Under Cook:
financials going sky high

Under the same Cook:
Apple is losing in education and creative markets big time
Apple has lost its focus in software and services
Apple is selling ancient hardware as if it was new
Apple's isn't updating nor improving computers with the only exception the ergonomic touchbar disaster for at least $ 500 more
Apple is putting minimal efforts in glueing new hardware together in their new iPhones
Apple is milking their brand name till the last drop
Apple isn't excelling in any category anymore and is playing catchup or trailing competitors
Apple is cutting products from their ecosystem and forcing you to look elsewhere
Apple isn't giving me any reason to be thrilled or proud of anymore

It will be a spec bump but they will justify the "Pro" name by comparing benchmarks of this "new" machine to the previous generation "Wow! x2 better performance!" (in simulated obscure test). I personally see it just being a current Macbook Pro paired with a 28"-32" screen.
That's really not apples fault I wish they would go back to the IBM PowerPC because the power nine chips smoke anything offered by Intel who knows Apple might go back you never know on their pro machines take tha into tconsideration because they already have the code all they have to do it's put the chips on the motherboard and implement!
Now let's see some real benchmarks if that takes place!!!!!
All the PC users will be crying and whining hehe...
Apples really good with surprising people, so you never know.

More in the "Pro area"?? ya right...

"Don't think something we've done or something that we're doing that isn't visible yet is a signal that our priorities are elsewhere," Cook also told investors."

So, either this is a very good kept thing they kept secret that "actually IS a secret" over a leak, or someone inside doesn't know too much about what is really planned.

I fail to understand why the same old questions are being always pounding on every time as "Do you think Mac will have a touchscreen" If Tim says "No" the first time, what makes u think if u keep asking he will say "Yes" the second time? He's a CEO, their *supposed* to know what there talking about... right ?

How does it run five times faster under windows if they're using the same processors all I know I don't have to worry about stupid battery and a CMOS chip going bad right middle of the project ha ha Ha ha ha Plus Windows doesn't have Thunderbolt and it's new implementation is a bag of hurt so how can it be five times faster if I'm running Thunderbolt on my external RAIDS please answer me this....
I guess half the price goes along with the pirated software too eh? Yeah... just do things cheap while you're making bank on projects so buy cheap hardware that breaks down all the time and use pirated software awesome.... but it's cheaper right?

Just compare HP workstations with a MAC Pro to see how many processor generations the Mac is behind. No pirated software but the subscription based Creative Cloud from Adobe.

My guess you still work with Mac Paint and have no clue what the world has to offer today.

Besides that, I'm no fan of Windows. But I have to admit it's very stable and to say that's not safe and full of viruses comes from the ignorance of the user. It's a myth from the past. So please open your eyes for today.

One of the pulling-a-rabbit-out-of-a-hat moments with Jobs and the creative professional market was Final Cut Pro X. Post Jobs, the 2013 Mac Pro was a similarly radical change. ... edit ... And there are some mitigating factors, in that the iMac has taken over part of the creative professional market on its own merits (not just because the Mac Pro deficiencies).

This is so insane that i DON'T want some of what you are smoking. Final Cut Pro X was the first clear cut signal that Apple wanted Pro users to GO AWAY. And if you think the iMac is filling the Creative Professions needs than you are using the same flawed concept that Cook and Ive have of what a Pro is. Xeon's exist for a reason. Core i7's exist for different reason... High end laptops and low end desktops. People who's paychecks depend on computing power are never going to fall for that reality distortion field.

And Timmy... using your BILLIONS to hire a large dedicated staff of ZERO to work on MacOS and Desktop computers is pretty damn good indication of where your priorities are.

If shareholders really cared about the computer side of the business, they would demand that it be spun off into it's own division... run by FORSTALL ( NOT a " tonerhead" )

As a Sys Admin I would like to see the Mac Mini updated with Thunderbolt 3. I use one daily for my scratch box doing all sorts of menial but intensive tasks that I don't want to perform on my Macbook Pro. I would switch fully to an Intel NUC if I could as the newer models are quite nice.

What I'd like to see:

Mac Pro:

Upgradeable
PCI-E
Dual CPU

Macbook Pro 17"

Mobile Xeon
4K 10 BIT DISPLAY
Up to 32GB ram
larger battery
'Legacy Ports'
Upgradable SSD

Also don't forget about that 3 year 24/7 on site warranty!

I never said he was going anywhere, I said give the man five years. What I was getting at is he will do good things, we just gotta be patient. Just because he has not come out with a new Mac Pro doesn't mean he hasn't done good things. IMO He's done incredible things and I'm enjoying him as the CEO.

He's had five years. I'm tired of being patient. He's completely abandoned the pro market. His company's software is nowhere NEAR the quality it once was and he's taken the focus off of making great products and placed his company's priorities on being a SJW and making products asininely thin.

What Tim Cook has done in his five years is alienated the professionals that were the backbone of Apple for decades, degraded the software his company produces (if not outright eliminated them), stubbornly stuck to failing product line, create a product that he's so proud of that he has to hide its numbers in the "Other" category among other things.

As it says in my sig, I didn't abandon Apple, Apple abandoned me.

Well actually the classic MP is a very nice looking case as well. Just as much a work of art as the trashcan. But I do think it is proof that it was a very good design. I wonder how hard it would be internally to just swallow pride and release that old case with new internals. It must be hard because they should have done that a year ago. They've lost customers and 10s of millions of dollars of profit by not releasing a Pro machine in 2016.
I agree that the aluminum MacPros are an incredible design, that stood the test of time very well for many years (hell, we still use lots of them at work even alongside cylinder MPs). But that design could be updated and tweaked to make it a little more modern: smaller, lighter, cooler, less fan noise, easily rack-mountable or used stand-alone. I work at a Fortune 500 company and we would buy dozens if not hundreds of those in a second. Especially if they could offer 16 or 24 cores.

Right now we are on hold for all the Apple pro machines (we have at least several hundred in various locations) hoping Apple will update. But it's not going to last much longer, if they don't do it our entire operation will almost certainly switch over to Windows for those applications. We already switched from Final Cut Pro to Premiere last year on our edit machines so that's one less barrier but it will still be a painful (and most likely permanent) transition.

And once all your workhorse machines switch to Windows, how long before they decide to just change all the laptops over as well? Currently virtually all our laptops (thousands of them) are Mac or in some cases Linux, you actually need a special request to be issued a Windows machine.

And after everyone is using Windows (or whatever else), how long before those people stop buying personal Apple laptops and iMacs so they're working on the same system at home? And then stop recommending Apple hardware to friends and family because they're now out of the loop?

Tim Cook does not seem to see the ultimate end game of this disturbing trend of neglecting the pro products. It will have bad implications far beyond just those products and users.

The 2013 "trashcan" Mac Pro was a mistake. I'm sure they went back to the drawing board to come up with something new, that's why we've not seen an update to it.

One can only hope. It is one thing to make a small appliance by taking out all the compactness and just tell the users to buy extras for the outside, but another to offer practical solutions.

Pro's don't mind peripherals, however every piece less that can be put into ONE enclosure is just a better use of space.

Cables hanging around everywhere and with Murphy's law the plugs are never at the angle/direction or side we need them in/on.

To me for PRO machines noting beats towers, which can be put under the desk.

My G4 Quicksilver was a beauty. I still have it and can't get myself to throw it out. (Of course recycle:)

Perhaps, the Apple team thought branching everything off like a mess is better for the future ? Isn't the new and USB-C slowly becoming off this as well.

I'm uncomfortable with how willing people are to deny presented information to maintain the Apple-hate narrative in their heads, and go as far as accuse the CEO of bald-face lying.
It would appear to me that there is quite a bit of space between "seemingly lying" and "bald-face lying." Tim speaks in very broad language leaving many things up for interpretation. Time between refreshes can be frustrating for many users and Tim's comments are too opaque to draw any definite conclusions. I think he believes he is allaying fears regarding the the future of product lines but to Mac fans it falls woefully short of what they need to hear, at this point, to restore some trust/belief in the continuation of those Mac lines.

"There have been no hints that a Mac mini or Mac Pro refresh is on the horizon, but Apple is rumored to be planning to introduce new iMacs in 2017, perhaps as early as March. Future iMacs are expected to be updated with USB-C ports and AMD graphics chips. "

Skip the stupid maintenance update of the upcoming iMac, and please just go to the 'future' iMac with usb-c and nVidia card.

Can we get pro hardware for pro users and not just a pro freakin price tag for pro users?

It's great that iPad can do so much more, but it can't run mac store games or apps, let alone adobe premiere pro, nor can it run 24/7/364 daemons and services. be an mx/ptr or reverse dns proxy etc.

pro users have pro needs, not angry birds and a pencil. the world is bigger than cupertino rainbow painters, and it's starting to *p* me off that it seems to turn into a microsoft from 15 years ago because 'actually' moving forward is held back so much.

It's utterly frustrating to read no-news and no moving forward, "just because it appears invisible", yeah, sure. ... said 95% of kickstarter.

No, see, everything will be "Pro". We'll have iPhone Pro. AR glasses Pro. Apple TV Pro. Then Lightning Charge Cable Pro (2" longer with USB A) and the new 3 Amp Charger Pro. Then there will be the 12" Pro MacBook with new USB-C Super Speed Pro (formerly Thunderbolt 3) with the USB C Cable Pro with charging status indicator light but you can forget the ??? Pro. Not Apple Watch Pro bands ugly colors enough. Just give me a ten pack of iPod Nano Socks Pro and I'll jump off an Apple Store Roof.

I think the design was flawed, however I wouldn't say a mistake exactly. At least it was trying to stay true to the "pro" moniker by having things like up to 12 cores, very fast SSD storage, large memory capacity, dual GPUs, etc. Maybe it was missing things (slots) but at least they tried to update the old MP with a fresh modern design, with the spirit of truly pro users in mind.

That's a lot better than what we are seeing now, which is an apparent apathy if not downright disparagement of pro products coming from the highest levels of the company.

The trust Apple has lost these last five years aren't repaired easily and definitely not with words. It's time for Apple to plumb that pipeline and fire not 6 but 12 cilinders (ecofriendly). Stop milking and give people bang for their bucks. Not tomorrow, now! Buy back your shares and stop paying dividends. Put those resources into research and development and set an example to the world as it used to do.

A man can dream but I'm afraid it's all my wishful thinking and what Apple will be offering too little too late.

Thanks Tim Cook for the lobotomy of Apple and removing its soul.

You've turned Apple into a money driven company based on marketing and blah blah.

I still think the Mac Mini is done (Not that it should be). It's been overly ignored for far too long. Apple likely will place emphasis on the iMac, iPad Pro and Mac Pro (Hopefully).
It's too bad,Hp is making a "mac mini", saw one in a drs office the other day and thought, too bad that could be a mac;(
The last mini is hamstringed, and not upgradeable and then they let the POS languish instead of trying to rectify their blunder..but then Tim would have to use a mac to understand what a bad deal the last crop of Macs are.
The best bang for the buck are the 2011-2012 macs..too bad
