My AT&T 16G White phone is in "preparing for shipment" for 4 days. How long does it take to ship? I guess they just ordered the shipping boxes and it is taking time to manufacture them.

I called FedEx to cancel the hold, they said they will attempt to deliver Monday then hold it.
I few things I've learned in my obsession for tracking my 4S:
1) The tracking link from Apple's email or website if often behind - even if it's on FedEx's website. Copy the tracking number into google and go to that version.
2) At times, you may have to refresh the tracking page even if you go directly to it on FedEx.com
3) Flight Aware is awesome for predicting whether or not FedEx flights are going to a city in your area - you can match it up with your tracking to figure out when it might be at the next stop
4) Calling FedEx usually will give you less information than you can find online. I called this morning to see if I could pick up my phone, and they told me it was going to be in Memphis all day, which was wrong. It arrived in my city (Atlanta) today at 1pm.
5) I called FedEx again and they said it's currently being sorted, and if it makes it to my local station before 5pm I can pick it up. So there is an off chance I can get it today... otherwise it'll be delivered Monday before 10:30am.

I think it depends on the model, color and carrier a little. I ordered black vzw 16gb on the 18th, and it's in my city today, the 29th. Delivered by the 31st even though I might try to go get it today before 5pm.

Mine is now "preparing for shipment" I hope a few of their workers drink three bottles of five hour energy drink so we all get our iPhones sooner!!
I'm thinking I should have reserved mine before launch but wasn't sure I wanted one bc I had the 4..when the chips are down iPhone 4s is the best choice for a smartphone until next year at least.

feels like I won't get mine for ages...
I ordered mine on the 28th and order status changed to "preparing for shipment" earlier today. Hopefully I'll have it in my hands by the end of the week *crosses fingers*. My estimated delivery date is the 10th-18th. Though I did order a 64gb in white so maybe that's why mine is about to ship already since 64gb isn't so popular.
I feel the same. My wife Windows phone is on its last leg. Im giving her my i4 when I get the 4S.

I can't afford the 64gb...
I can't really afford the 16gb, but it's the only reasonable amount I can spend.
Really? I ordered mine 24th and expected to get it 1st to the 8th.
maybe it's different in other countries.
