Ordered two phones on Oct 22 and 23, both 32Gb, black, ATT.
Today at 7pm status changed to 'Preparing for Shipment'. I called last week and had it changed for 2-3 day delivery via Fedx. That shorted the delivery time after shipment. Expected is now Nov 3 to 10.
cost $10 more.

ordered same day as you still processing...I was hoping to see some movement by today but guess not, however, I did order the 16gb white at&t.
I might call to have them change the shipping as well.
I ordered a black 32Gb ATT on the 19th and its still processing. How does this work? Do they throw orders in a hat and pick one out?
that must be the case. come saturday it will be two weeks since I ordered and I was promised 1-2 weeks to ship so come saturday if it still says its processing I will be giving Apple a call
I ordered the white 16G Sprint version on Oct. 24th. Estimated delivery Nov. 4 - Nov, 14. Still processing but they charged my credit card this evening so I am hoping this is a good sign!
I'm glad I read this thread because I can now see what a quivering mass of jelly I'd be if I ordered my 4S online or tried repeatedly to snag a reserve from a local Apple Store. I'm waiting until I can just walk in and buy one somewhere. Thanks, everyone, for going insane, so I don't have to.
Pre-ordered mine on the 24th in Ireland and it shipped last night. Tnt. I would have preferred UPS. They let you see the details of the shipping process. And the tracking number I get from Apple won't even work on tnt's website. Should arrive tomorrow
My credit card just got charged for the 16gb White AT&T 4S I ordered online on October 25. Order status remains at "processing." I called Apple, and the rep offered me a no-charge upgrade to 2-3 business day shipping.
Should I expect a shipment email later today, given my card has now been charged?
Just got an update! My order is now Preparing to Ship, ordered on Oct. 24 16G white for sprint. I was getting worried there for a minute!
Your status should change to preparing for shipment any moment now. Mine changed to that at about 7PM last night and it's still on that. I wonder if the charge is another pre-authorization or if it's the actual charge this go round.
Sure enough - mine now says "preparing for shipment." I'm hopeful I'll get it Friday Nov. 4.
AT&T by my house has plenty in stock of both colors. They are the top selling Store, and as such they always have plenty of inventory.
I believe the white 64gb AT&T model is the only one that isn't delayed. I ordered the exact same model last Friday (Oct 28th) and it's being delivered to me this upcoming Friday (Nov 4th). I ordered a black 64GB the same day and it's still processing. The white 64gb demand must be REALLY low.
Sweet. How long did it take for the phone to actually ship after it was updated to preparing for shipment?
