I'm gonna be in the California Bay Area today picking up an Apple Watch series 2 from Apple's company store at One Infinite Loop, so I'm going to be trying my luck at ATT corporate stores in the bay. Hopefully I get lucky
. I found a LOT of pluses yesterday in the Sacramento California area, just not black...i was able to reserve a 7, 128gb, Black, AT&T via the IUP link (new to the program) last night at 12:30ish. i could only schedule pickup for the same day (saturday), although i'm not able to go this weekend (busy). i called the store and was able to reschedule for tuesday evening.
I tried the non-IUP reservation link at midnight, 1am, 3am, and 8am with no luck. This morning I checked http://www.istocknow.com/live/ and saw a local NYC Apple store that had the phone I wanted in stock. It opened at 9am, I arrived at 9:30am and they took down my name for a reservation, grabbed a coffee and came back at 10am and was out the door with a 7/Black/256/Vzw in about 15-20 minutes.
So I'm a little confused the IUP reservation link is the only way to reserve right now right and that should be done at midnight PST or 8 am PST? Any way of seeing all the inventory by model instead of having to click on each individual store? thanks.

So yesterday I had a valid and legit reservation for a matte black 7 plus 128 GB. I arrived, waited in line for 2 hours only to be told that they didn't have my phone. I was furious. Totally defeated after a week of frustrating phone calls to the IUP team, receiving calls saying I'd get an email and never having one show up, etc.
My reservation "must have been a glitch" said the manager.
My issue now is that it looks like I'm in that situation where I have a phone reserved, no +'s showing at any store in Texas (mind you, I started looking at 12:01 AM CST this morning). I see only 7's in the drop down. I am an existing leper (IUP member) and figured I'd see at least 1 7+ somewhere in TX, but nothing. The reservation disappeared from my Apple app around 11 PM yesterday, but like I said, it's as if I still have one reserved. Any ideas on if that might be the case, and if so, when the app will clear up and allow me to see stock again? Since the reservation disappeared I am not able to cancel it or anything either.

It just all depended on what shipments they got and what was in it. She said it's the same for Apple Watch Series 2. This was at Apple Store Main Place in Naperville, IL.
There was even a short line outside this morning for reservation pickups, but that to only be for the 7, not the Plus.

Made a reservation for this morning with the IUP link but want to buy full price / non-IUP... any chance this would work?

As an FYI, I reserved a 7 128 Black AT&T on IUP for pickup today. I went to my store and right to the front of the line. The specialist got my phone and I asked if I could change it to the AT&T Next program. He did that for me without any issues. So the moral here is if you get an IUP reservation, you can purchase outright or change to a carrier plan in store.
Went to the 5th ave store. Was told there are no pluses or jet blacks, but the reservation will start on Monday. Didn't say when on Monday though.
I don't think the IUP link is specifically IUP only. People that are in the program can see more availability. If you are not in the program you can still make a reservation.
Just an FYI, I used the istocknow link someone posted a page or so back to look at the stock of regular 7s at my local Apple Store. I wasn't able to get anyone from the store on the phone but I drove over there. They allowed me to reserve a black 7 for pickup this afternoon. They didn't have any plus phones in stock. But, if you are looking for a regular 7, you can go to a store and buy any stock they have or reserve it for pickup later in the day.
I asked the guy again before I left, he said he believes the reservation for 7 pluses will open midnight EDT on Monday, and *all* colors will be available. Take that with a grain of salt as usual.
IUP users should get preference, which if I were an IUP user, I'd expect, so no bitterness from me here.
Frankly I'd not worry about it so much. Every iPhone launch has been a pain in the ass since... I don't know, 4S? 3GS? It was far far worse when the iPhone 6 launched and all the scalpers were buying them to ship them to China, when Apple didn't have stores there.
I think the situation is a lot milder now. Just change your expectations to get it in November instead of September, and be pleasantly surprised when you manage to get it earlier (I'm pretty sure it'll be available by then, or before that, even the Jet Black Plusses....)

I just went ahead and ordered online just now. If I find it locally before Oct 12-18th, yay, otherwise in a month I'll have a 256gb Rose Gold 7+.

This is exactly what happened to me. Reservations were all messed up yesterday. I believe they have your phones sitting and accounted for while they try to fix their glitch. I was able to go back to the store I waited at yesterday for 3 hours, and come out 5 min later with my iPhone and a free case.
Worst launch in history.

We know that the reservation page did open up but filled up fast. It looks like it will open again this evening.
It seemed that it opened up for the ones who were already enrolled in the Upgrade Program. I checked at 12:01 local (est), 12:01 pst and 08:01 am local as well. It seems there is a different page for those of us not currently in the Upgrade Program. Or am I mistaken?
They use the same page. I checked for myself up until 1AM and it had not opened so I am not sure when it happened exactly but we were told it opened and closed quickly.
Hmm, ok. So I'm assuming that you won't know when in the morning it will open tomorrow then?
I wish I did so I could check as well! We were told it would open again at 12:01AM and it should be local time.
Alright, last question. Are the customers currently enrolled in the Upgrade Program able to see the Plus stock before everyone else? It seemed to me those on that program could reserve 7's at about 12:02am. If its the same page I'm not sure I understand why none of us could see the stock. I did see on one page all the states come back with inventory for the 7 but not a single 7 Plus. However those on the Upgrade Program were reporting they could see them in every state and reserve.
Sure, I understand. iUP customers and regular orders all show in the same page. They do not use a different page. The iPhone 7 Plus is so popular it is sold in most areas that I know of.
Is there any way you can provide me with a link to the page you're referring to? I have links to 2. One seems to always state Apple isn't taking reservations. The other always shows the current inventory.
Do you mind sharing with me the current inventory page? Is that just where you select the iPhone with the carrier, color, and storage size?

She also stated the time was in fact local time. But that it didn't actually open up at 12:01 am this morning. For whatever thats worth.
Just picked up my iPhone 7+, Jet Black, 256GB on T-Mobile. They're having activation issues so they just swapped my SIM card from my old phone to the new phone. Occurred to me after the fact that I could've asked for a Verizon (CDMA, GSM) phone instead (although unlikely in stock).
The person beside me managed to purchase a 'device only' iPhone through IUP. It's pretty much still chaos as far as the IUP goes (no specific lines, not much info from staff, activation issues, etc). I'm upgrading from a previous IUP 6S+.
I don't think we have seen a 7 Plus JB 256 in the flesh yet, do you care to post some photos please?
I used the IUP reservation link and then I went into an Apple store to try my luck. I was able to purchase at full retail without making a reservation online. I'd say your best bet is to just use the current (working) reservation link as an stock indicator at your local store and just go. It was really simple to purchase the phone and the manner in which I wanted to pay. The iStockNow link was also very helpful.
