I, too, think (since there is no time-zone specification for the whole US site) that 3:01am might be when the site opens for in-store reservations.

Yeah i mean usually whenever apple specifies a time without adding if its eastern, pacific etc its usually their time by default so thats what makes me think it might go live at 3am eastern

It said local time

Well its clearly past 12:01 local time here in new york and the page is still down

I just refreshed the link and I noticed that Alabama just showed up while it was Connecticut that was the first one before 10 pm pacific time. So its refreshing as the hours come around.. lol

My guess is 3am, because their page says 12:01, the only guess i have is that 12:01 means their time.

I'm wondering if they are just going to give IUP a few days of exclusive access to the reservations before opening them for everyone.

ok, i finally found out the apple store reservation i did for last year pick of 6S+. Folks the actual reserve and pick up for general public start at 8:00am local time. Unless apple change this year it will be definately at 8:00am today.
make sense now that apple is trying to allow existing iUP members to reserve at 12:01am.

For the people saying only the iUP site went live at 12:01, you're wrong. The iUP reserve site has been up all day. I looked at it hours ago (CDT here) and could see what phones were available for them to reserve. So it's only this site for everyone else to reserve that is completely screwing up.

Also to report from CDT the site still says 12:01. Either it's PDT, or Apple has misinformation going out which is unlike them. Usually if a product is out of stock or not shipping on time usually they're straight with us, though we may not like it. This time we're just given completely wrong information.

I say that it's not 3:01 or 8:01. it was indeed local time. why? at 12:01 all the east coast states with the same time zones had suddenly stock (only the iphone 7, not the plus, but still) and Alabama for example was still in gray (one hour difference from NYC). Now I checked again and Alabama is live and on the list..still, no 7 plus..So I will simply assume that they dont have any new plus stock right now

It should have been up 7 minutes ago, as I stated I am in the UK and we only have one timezone. Apple said come back at 6:00am, it is now 6:08am here.

Well, it was suppose to be 6 here, 6:07 in the UK. Page still says we're not taking any more reservations, come back at 06:00

got 4 tabs open. furiously refreshing

You are right, it has been up all day. However I checked it about an hour before 12:01 am hit and the inventory had been nearly depleted. There were only a few states with iPhone 7 inventory. At around 12:01 am, it updated and repopulated almost all the states again with available iPhone 7 inventory.

Why does it look to me that they are deliberately trying to obfusticate the process? How hard can it be to just say exactly what 12:01am means?

Well, I guess they said *after* 12:01am, not *starting* at 12:01am. So even if the actual reservation starts at 8:00am local or 3:00 EDT they'd still be technically correct.

Major confusion here between the link for iUP people to reserve and everyone else to reserve. The iUP link is live, but the one for everyone else still says 12:01am

This is what i'm talking about when I say the "people trying to game the system are something else"

Can someone show me how to get to the "come back at 12am page OR the reservation page FROM apple.com? WITHOUT selecting IUP.

Thanks.

It's up now in the UK, not that there are any 7+ to reserve :-(

If they do this and don't sell phones to non iUP people for a few days that is complete and utter nonsense and I would be really tempted to leave Apple for that horrendous customer service that would completely ignore a huge part of their consumer base. We don't all want to be part of the iUP program. Just take my $800 and let me have the phone!
