if you upgraded your unlimited line and paid full price you could keep unlimited. There was no option when upgrading on the apple site to keep the unlimited you had to pick a new plan or you could try the method of switching sim cards when you got the new phone.

I'm talking about if you created an order and didn't see the unlimited option when adding a line then you could cancel go back and redo it after selecting that option.

Question, is the unlimited option still there when adding a line on apple.com? I would think it would have been closed by now. I'm just praying my phone ships before they do anything.

still an option, considering doing it... afraid verizon will come back and take it & my current unlimited data out of contract line.

i don't think vz would punish you, esp when you just clicked on what was available, they might take the new unlimited plan but the old one they won't, if they did that would really surprise me

Don't hate on the guy that called verizon. I read an article on one of the tech sites that caught wind of this and they have already contacted verizon on this issue so they know, only question is if they let us keep it or not. Only time will tell.

I hate on both the person that called Verizon, and whatever tech site you're talking about.

Just let it happen, don't ask questions.

And you didn't provide a link to said article?

And you don't think verizon doesn't know about these loopholes?

Elaborate on how this is a loophole? I went onto apple.com to add a line to my existing plan and one of the choices was an unlimited plan. No hackery involved. It doesn't matter if they offer unlimited data or not anymore (although, I know they don't), it was right there for me to pick.

If it's truly unlimited and it sticks, then great. If not, then they need a good explanation on what was going on since I made a valid selection during the normal purchase process.

why would you call them, thats exactly why people avoid sharing these loopholes.

I understand that but the thing was I quickly selected 2GB since it was 4AM and was just trying to get everything done and didn't think Unlimited was an option! So instead of canceling and placing another order I called them and they were very nice about it actually.

Thank you for standing up for me and not scolding me

The reason I called was because that's what Apple told me to do. I know I probably shouldn't have called Apple either but that's what they told me to do and since I've had unlimited for two years and don't want to lose it, I didn't want to be left out since I selected 2GB during checkout. I simply asked Apple how I could change the rate plan to unlimited and they told me to call verizon about it.

So they said call them the day I receive my phone and they will switch me back to unlimited

See that's what I did but I didn't want to cancel my order since I'm getting it on Friday and didn't want to wait any longer

I really doubt it will stick.
Verizon can obviously see and tell what accounts where just opened and have that data option that hasn't been available for years. They will just remove it and add an available data plan most likely.
They are trying very hard to get everyone off unlimited data, I don't think they will let that slide at all.

It is still a loophole. A loophole doesn't need to be any sort of hackery involved or tricks. It could be just a glitch in their system that they will probably correct and most likely their explanation will be an error on the ordering process or something of that matter. Doesn't really matter how they explain it or the excuse they give to the public.

Even if it is a loophole the worst they will do is bump you down to 6GB, which really is more than enough for one person

We'll obviously have to wait and see but you seem pretty sure of yourself. Almost like you don't want us to have unlimited.

Lol:D
Im just sure of verizon and the way they're after unlimited data users. Not that I dont want to see you guys have it for any reason.
Noone knows how it will play out anyway, we just gotta wait and see. Would be nice if you guys got lucky and got one on the greedy carrier though:D

I think it will stand. Verizon will just make their numbers higher when the have to report their earnings. So they gain a customer and stock goes up. Win win.

Yeah I get how Verizon's being lately. They're calling their throttling as "network optimization" but we all know it's throttling in every sense of the word. Anyway for them to convince us to give up on unlimited...

apple.com allowing me to add new iPhone to Verizon account with unlimited

Would anyone be gracious enough to get one for me I have a total of 5 lines already under contract and can't add another. If someone got one for me I can create a sub account for it

Edit: Nevermind it let me LMAO.

Yeah, hopefully the FCC, or whoever has authority, can stop Verizon from their plan to throttle but highly unlikely.
As long as people keep abusing the grandfathered plans (using it to replace home internet, seeding torrents, etc) neither att or vzw will alter any plans to begin/continue throttling. Sprint and T-Mobile will follow suit as soon as their networks become saturated as well.
