Okay everyone!

Updates times:

So I wanted to buy unlimited lines for my brother and mother mostly. Also like 2 more for friends who gave up their unlimited plans.

I had originally

Unlimited
Tiered 2GB

My brother used his upgrade on a 6, and then this glitch thingy happened.

I bought 2 additional unlimited lines that are intending on staying on the account. so 3 unlimited, 1 tiered

I was going to put my mother on the tiered, but figured. Screw that, put her on unlimited as well. We RETURNED my brothers preordered 6 yesterday. Got the contract date changed back to month to month, and I just started the port over to Google Voice about 30 minutes ago.

Since he was without a phone for 20ish hours, I let him use a 64GB iPhone until I got home today to start the porting. I turned off the iPhone, started the port process on his tiered number, and then popped in the SIM card of the unlimited number/line that's eventually gonna get his old number back.

But, when putting the unlimited SIM number/line card back in the phone, the number changed o_O. I only know because the area code changed. Still says Unlimited in my account, so I figure it's still good. Anyways, once the port to Google Voice is successful, I'm going to use Verizon's online service and port back the original tiered number into his unlimited line.

For my mother, she's porting her number in from Virgin Mobile , which I will start tomorrow once I see her. This one shouldn't be too hard

Let's see how long this whole thing takes

Still haven't been able to activate. Any other options? If I swap sims and keep on another line won't I be liable to apple for full price of phone if it never activated on new line?
Yea same here. Think I've exhausted my non-sim swap options.

I did do a hard restart while plugged in to iTunes and did a phone restore, which downloaded 8.0.2 to it which the apple support guy said "added the activation policy" to my phone correctly which he said matched it to Verizon, but then said I'd now need to call VZW and have them look up the IMEI to figure out what was wrong.

For those that have had trouble and returned their ship-to-home orders, what's the fastest way/best process to do so to open the account back and try again for in-store pickup?

I didn't activate any of the new iPhones on the new lines they were assigned to. I have one on eBay ending today that hasn't even been turned on. So far no problems.

SonRK,
looking forward to see if it will be done smoothly.

Does anyone know if it's possible to port number from another carrier into unlimited data plan that was generated with apple.com orders?

Tried to get my number ported into version from att with the apple.com loop. DOES NOT work, if you just choose to transfer existing number. Now stuck in a limbo with 2GB, 2 year contract.
Verizon apparently has no way to do it from their end, especially frustrating when i have more than enough unlimited lines at this time.

my plan is to port back to att, so I don't lose the number and can cancel this 2GB line. Then try again and see how sonRK does.

Any thoughts from people who has more experience?

thanks

Yes. So first thing I will do is to get the 2yr off this line. Then start to port out.
Just want to make sure it can be port back into a unlimited data line.

have not tried this but see https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/20008719/

port your number first then return the phone.

Awaiting sonRK's update.
I want to make sure a number can be port back into a "place holder" line.

Like i said, going through apple.com directly did not work for me. My wife is attached to the phone number, not sure what else I can do to get the unlimited data on her number.

I have more than enough unlimited data plan lines right now.
3 UPD Brand New, apple.com method
1 TPD/2yr/can cancel contract within 14 days./would like to keep this phone number.

I think porting out will not be any problems. Port back in onto a unlimited data that is where I see this whole thing can fall apart.
Thanks for all the help.

I lost for now 2 line with unlimited data with ATT by just buying iPhone 6+
they are so busy to correct this problem that this is the second week without unlimited
wandering if I move to verizon will they open me an account with unlimited data?

Wait - so you're saying you never activated numerous add-a-lines from apple.com and sold the phones. So you think apple/Verizon won't have any issues when they see new lines added with subsidized phones and never activating or paying for the line? That would be the sweetest deal yet.

Doesn't really matter. Sealed or unsealed will get the same price. Trust me I've sold many many many phones.

the only risk is if you transfer the line and the AOL recipient takes too long to assign a new SIM which is unlikely. the person turning on the iPhone would then activate the line.

Well I am out I couldn't find a buyer for my unlimited line so I am returning my Iphone and going to cancel the line. Really a shame that scalpers are trying to make a living off selling unlimited data lines when I only have one special line for sale . Have a great day !;)

Maybe I misunderstood. I had one shipped to home and cannot activate it on the new line. Therefore the new line does not show anywhere on Verizon. How would you AOL with the line never showing? Aren't you liable for the new line 2 yr contract even if it never activates or shows on Verizon website?
