STI resolution while trying to pick an iPhone with unlimited data. Apple Store employee said we have to call and I decided to cancel my order. Waiting for the representative on the Apple hotline.

I placed the other last night

My issue might be because of myself though. I called this morning to give one of my friends an unlimited line and I did the AOL thing. He called Verizon and said there's a pending order so I decided to go pick up my iPhone. Well then that error came up and I decided to cancel.

Just got off the phone with Apple. Says it would take about 48 hours before I can order a new line again. Wow. Does it really take that long ? I thought that's only for upgrade people

We got an error like that twice. Once was because we ordered a 6th line on a Nationwide Family Share plan.

The second time it happened, my wife went to pickup an iPhone 6 with a UDP at an Apple Store. The store scan gave some error, and the Apple Store associate told her that the order was hers, however the phone number for that phone was tied to someone else's account. After some calls to Verizon, and confusion in the store, I believe the problem is likely that this phone was returned unopened and Apple placed it back into stock allowing me to order it. I ordered it immediately for store pickup when I noticed it on iStockNow, and that was the only phone that showed available for pickup at the time. There wasn't enough time for the original purchasers pending activation to fall off before I ordered it causing the scan to fail.

If you are using a tracker and don't see multiple changes in one store inventory don't order.

I called Verizon and Apple to have the pending orders/activations/whatever removed and successfully picked up an iPhone 6 yesterday with a new UDP plan.

Thanks for that, I called Verizon and got the order removed from the system. Going to have my friend call in and get the line moved before I try to buy another phone. Verizon rep said my friend should be able to continue, and I checked Apple's online site and it's letting me place a new order.

The Apple Employee told me that STI is usually because of Serial / IMEI being assigned already, etc. So your theory is extremely possible. Ultimately, the 3rd party agent couldn't solve it, so my option was to call Verizon or cancel. Could have just been bad luck on getting assigned a returned iPhone, could have been because I started an AOL process.

Oh well. Perhaps better luck later tonight or tomorrow.

So got my iP6+ shipped to home today and decided to take a chance on it working without doing a sim swap.

Unfortunately I got the "Could Not Activate iPhone" alert with the following message:

"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes.

If this problem persists, contact Apple Support at apple.com/support."

Understand I might be SOL and need to return it and try again for in store pick up, but wondering if indeed it could be a server issue like a few others experienced on opening weekend (and I should just keep trying today/tomorrow) or if I should try connecting it to iTunes before giving up and returning it.

Any thoughts or advice are appreciated!

Do you have an extra one lying around? I would try just SIM swapping now since it seemed like if the servers were down you could just guarantee success with iMyers

I don't currently (have a 4s) but will have access to one next Tuesday so I suppose I could hold onto it until then and try it that way.

Single line new individual plan ?

Single line new individual plan ?

No family Nationwide 2000 minutes, 4 lines currently 3 UDP, 1 2GB adding a 5th line.

The 2GB is currently waiting on delivery of an upgrade (ordered after the new UDP line on apple.com), not sure if that might have mucked it up.

iPhone 6 ship to home

I added a UDP line from Apple and shipped to home. I received it yesterday, activated it, made a phone call to make sure it worked and it did. Made sure data worked then checked my account and it showed new number had UDP. I then swapped the sim with my iPhone 5 and everything is working fine. I get iphone 6 and daughter gets iphone 5 and we all get UNLIMITED DATA. I'm on a 700 minute Nationwide plan.

Same happened to me. There should be an option to activate over cellular data. Try connecting wifi again, let it fail, go back to the activation screen and it should say cellular data on the bottom. Hope this helps

My question though is you're only supposed to be able to have one Vzw account per person, how did you manage to get more then one? I'm not judging, I'd just like to do it myself!
I'm too arrogant to care if I'm judged, so there! :D

First, I'm happy to report that I am updating my new Slate Gray 128GB iPhone 6 that I picked up today and - ahem - had it activated in store this time. It's updating to 8.0.2 right now!

The account I added a line to had 3 lines with UL data. The one I had delivered and couldn't activate (described in an earlier post in this thread) was returned today. I did experience one problem in-store that led the Genius to call VZW - yes, I was apprehensive, but what happened next might answer your question.

I returned the iPhone that VZW mucked up yesterday, the order I cancelled through Apple. Last night, I logged into My Verizon to determine whether I could add a line - I could, so I trolled the "istocknow.com" web site, and found a 6 and a 6+ that worked for me, but I waffled for 10 minutes and the 6+ was gone. I then did the the "Buy Now" option for the device I wanted, selected the UL data option that was available to me, and made the purchase. I got my confirmation TM and email this morning @ 7 am that my order was ready.

Back to your question. During my pick up, the Genius got a message that he needed to contact VZW. I told him that, I wanted to know why and that, if the terms I agreed to weren't met that I would cancel on the spot. He was on the phone with VZW for 15-odd minutes - the feedback was that my return put a 72-hour hold on adding any additional lines. I asked the Genius to pose expediting that time limit, he conveyed my request, and they did. I brought my iPhone 5 with me, and checked that the new line was included in my account - it was (and still is), and it showed UL data and a contract date 2 years from now. So, success.

Evidently, VZW's activation servers are slammed - understandably. I think the only reason VZW shortened my wait time is due partly to the amount of business my company does with them - but it NEVER hurts to ask. I'm VERY assertive, but also very respectful - I treat the staff as I'd want to be treated, but I am aware of the crap that VZW is foisting off on us to get us on more expensive plans.

The returned iPhone is still in my account, but I'll call in a bit to get it deleted - and in 72 hours I'll check to see if there's a 6+ available for that 5th line in my account!

See my previous post - I found out just today that it's 72 hours...

Ship to home. Just activated. Looks like the key is using cellular data, not wifi. Apple allows me to order another right away. VZW shows new number with UDP. I have 5 lines in 700min Family plan. Will see how it goes with 6th line addition.

FWIW, I used cellular-only with my failed activation. I'm on the phone with VZW right now to get that device off my account. Good times...

You can't add a 6th to a family plan, I tried, and failed. 5 lines max. You can move a line or more to a sub account.

Do you think I can activate new one if I close one of the lines?

That I don't know. This is pure speculation but I'm guessing that the scan in the store checks this. I did the exact same thing you did with the same plan and everything looked good until they scanned it. If you deactivate a line it might be worth a shot. The worst thing that could happen is that you cancel that order and try again. Then Apple wanted to call Verizon so we canceled. After that, I moved 2 lines to a sub account and the next had no issues picking up another line yesterday.

I still haven't been able to find or order (for in-store pickup) a 64 GB space gray AT&T iPhone 6 in my area. Can't believe the demand for these things, or the lack of supply.

I also can't believe the number of people in this thread who have found and then returned iPhones. Does anyone know what happens to the iPhones that people return? Do they get resealed and resold as new or do they get shipped back to Apple and go into their refurb inventory?

Thanks, I'm unable to find the "activate over cellular data" option. Which screen did it show up on and what were the steps you took? Do I just need to turn off my wifi that I previously connected to so it can't find it?

Hi cnotes2019,

I see you opened few new udp lines using the apple loophole. Have a question for you. I received my first new line order yesterday (ship to home) and it activated fine. I then tried to make another order and it gave me below message. Did you see this before?

Important Information.

Based on the information you provided, you will only be able to pick up your iPhone in an Apple Retail Store.

Verizon may also require a deposit in order for you to purchase a new iPhone; deposit can only be paid in an Apple Retail Store.

You can still continue with your iPhone purchase on the Apple Online Store by selecting the Personal Pickup option, and then picking up your order in an Apple Retail Store.

If the Personal Pickup option is not currently available, your iPhone will be removed from your Cart and you’ll be able to purchase an iPhone, depending on availability, in an Apple Retail Store.

I found a Iphone 6 in stock at a local store and ordered it for pickup as it is allowing me to only order for instore pickup. In the rate plan details, i don't see the new phone number. Is this common for Instore pickup orders? Will there be any problem when i go for pickup?
