Sadly the sim-free model isn't available for the iPhone X at Pre-order. Most likely after about a month or so, Apple will release the sim-free model.
That's not true. T-Mobile or AT&T iPhone X models on Apple's website are both sim-free but come with a sim card from the relevant company for fast activation.

Youre thinking unlocked. Sim free means just that no sim.
I think he meant unlocked by saying sim-free since why would it be sad if you get or don't get a sim card with your phone? you can trash the included sim card and use your own...

The sim is a problem tho, we literally cant buy the phone we need (verizon) because of the sim. You have to have a post paid account. While the sim free phone can be purchased without a post paid account

No doesn’t mean it’s sim free. By the way. Sim free model isn’t the att or T-Mobile model either. Sim free model is Verizon/ Sprint. I don’t think you understand the term sim free. Means that it doesn’t come with a SIM card upon purchase.. Att/T-Mobile/Sprint/Verizon does come with a SIM card. Yes when you purchase the carrier model it’s unlocked when purchased full but technically isn’t sim free and plus they require your carrier credentials when you order it online. where as the sim free model does not (T-Mobile does not either).

You also realize that not everyone uses or have Verizon/Sprint/AT&T/T-mobile and uses others like Cricket, Straighttalk, H20, etc. So it makes more sense to get the Sim free model over the carrier model. So for them they would have to wait for the sim-free model or line up at the apple store on 11/3.

Keep in mind that att and T-Mobile uses Intel so it won’t work with any cdma network such as Verizon and Sprint. Where as Verizon and Sprint and sim free model uses Qualcomm, which will work on GSM as well. For some they prefer to get the one with Qualcomm. I’ve read that some who are on att or T-Mobile that wants to get the Qualcomm model because if they plan on switching they can without any issues.

Hello everyone,

I have never done the Apple upgrade program and I want to for the iPhone X. I have T-Mobile but was wondering if it is possible to pre-order the Verizon version without a Verizon number or contract. Also want to confirm that the Verizon iPhone works on T-Mobile correct?

Also, what is the pre-order like when doing that? I will want to order it as soon as the pre-order opens. Is there anything I should know?

Thanks

No you cannot pre-order the Verizon model without your verizon account info as it requires it. Yes Verizon model will work on T-Mobile.

Plus I believe you need to have a post paid account and not pre-paid. Not entirely sure on this as it does ask for the account holder's SSN and the account pin number. So likely it post paid.

Can I just say that UPS is frustrating? I understand that they have a lot of packages to move, but it's always annoying to know that the package that you're waiting on has been sitting at a facility that's a 30 minute drive from your house since yesterday, and is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow...

I’m already on iPhone Upgrade Program from last year and will be upgrading to the X. I really want it on launch day, but can’t really order it online because with AT&T, Apple will only ship the new phone to the Primary Account Holder address on the AT&T Account regardless of what you typed during the pre-order checkout for your shipping address. This has happened every year I’ve pre-ordered.

So what I’m wondering, is whether selecting store pickup will leave me worse off or with a worse chance of getting one on launch day than just ordering the upgrade online? Like is there less stock for store pickups or do they essentially just ship your phone to the store like online orders and it’s no difference in chances?

Apple can’t change the shipping address if the phone is going to an AT&T phone number even through the iPhone Upgrade Program, I’ve checked. I really don’t want it shipped to my dad’s house again.

I’ve got the iPhone 7 Plus with Sprint through Apple’s iPhone upgrade program. I intend to get the iPhone X 64GB when preorders go live. I know the monthly payments will be around $50/month, however does anyone know how much the down payment will be? Or is there no down payment since I’m already in the program?

So go get it

If I preorder a T-Mobile iphone paying the full amount, do I need to enter my TMobile account info? Just trying to gauge how fast I can make the process come the 26/27th.

If you select T-Mobile Carrier and make Full Payment, you don't need any T-Mobile account details.

It has already been discussed in last 2 pages.

For the record, regarding UPS, when no one answered my door immediately after exactly one ring, they left my $1200 CDN iPhone 8+ in open view on the ground outside my house.

Luckily a family member did in fact here the door and went out to retrieve it immediately.

There is no down payment in the upgrade program regardless if you're new to the program or upgrading. What you do pay up front when new or upgrading is the total tax amount for the purchase price of the phone + Applecare. Figure out the tax rate for your purchase zipcode and you'll be able to figure out the up front cost.

Do we have any information on newcomers to the iUP being able to get pre-approved before pre-ordering?

I know there were all those articles about existing iPhone Upgrade Program members getting pre-approved before the 8 dropping, but I want to join the program for the first time for the X and am worried not being able to be pre-approved will slow down the pre-order process so much that I'll lose the chance for the phone...

only existing IUP members are able to pre-approve. if you want to sign up you have to pre-order with IUP as checkout when pre-orders go live!

Damn, not what I wanted to hear...that means gotta rely on Apple/carrier/loaner servers to not hitch up...

Apple told me to turn my phone in/theyll cancel my loan and buy the phone outright because they wont let me upgrade unless im postpaid.

If you preorder using IUP then you Can opt for in store pickup on launch day(if they have stock) and with Apple rep you will go through the IUP process.

IUP only works with postpaid plans.

Yes i know, thats why im canceling my loan. Apple rep told me to bring the phone in and theyll stop my loan.

Im asking if i pre-order by paying full price will apple still ask for my verizon account number. If so i have to wait for a sim-free version.

Because they are not selling sim free yet. For sim free you don’t need any account details. Thanks to scalpers who buy and sell them at high profits and the real user is unable to get the device on time.
