How do you get the Verizon version?

On Oct 26th, go into Verizon and activate a month-to-month plan. $30 activation fee, $20 line access fee, and I think their cheapest plan is 2gb for $35. Then you will have a Verizon passcode set-up. At midnight, go ahead and pre-order the Verizon phone. and then once your phone is delivered, you can cancel your Verizon service. All in all, you will be out of pocket $85 for your effort, but at least you have a CDMA and GSM phone.

That is a one of reasons I have Verizon. Verizon has been awesome and worth the money with all superb Wireless benefits. I, however, do not recommend canceling the service as soon as you get the phone.

Why not cancel? That does seem like a lot of work for a phone. And cost on top of the already high price.
High price with the widest coverage in the US plus no coverage problems like T-Mobile is worth the money. Verizon is the best and top notch wireless carrier in the US. Love Verizon after change from T-Mobile. T-Mobile might be the cheapest price but with a lot of hidden baggages or costs like inside building coverage issue and narrow or limited coverages to certain area. I hope Verizon will do something to prevent people from abusing their new subscription and cancellation right away just to get the phone.

So I don't need to receive the SIM card and activate it on my current phone? I'm planning opening a Verizon account so I can preorder the iPhone X on the Apple iPhone Upgrade program and switch to t-mobile later.

Am thinking of using my mates Verizon’s account to buy an iPhone x upfront for use in Asia. Does anyone know whether the phone will works properly eg in terms of lte download speeds since it’s a gsm/cdma phone?

Just two visits to the Verizon store, and we are talking about a phone that costs in excess of $1,000 when all is said and done, yet you are now complaining about $85 extra or so to snag a CDMA & GSM phone?its all relative man

Yeah you will need the SIM and activate it before you can pre-order

I don’t think Verizon really cares as this is extra revenue for them for nothing.

These are relative statements that vary from person to person. For example in my case my wife has Verizon which has horrible coverage where we live and I have T-Mobile which has amazing coverage. I spent many years on Verizon and Ive seen much better overall performance wherever I go with T-Mobile. I live in AZ.

P.S. When T-Mobile and sprint merge there coverage map will destroy Verizons. It'll take a few years but it'll happen.

He is talking about the preapprovals, not the preorder, the IUP preapprovals will open around Tuesday most likely.

I know.

Just can't wait to see how this launch will go.

Hopefully, great but I think the demand has never been higher so we'll see if the servers can keep up.

Hey!
I'm planning on getting the iPhone X pre-ordered to a friend's place in the US and having him bring it over to my country. Since i'm not a resident, the only option i see is ordering the T-Mobile phone which comes unlocked (This is correct, right? The unlocked part. Does it get locked if someone turns it on with the T-mobile sim?), because all other carrier options require Carrier info which i don't have since i'm not a US resident. This is the only option i have yes?

I plan to primarily use the phone outside the US, (Pakistan) and all the networks are GSM here. I was going through the supported band list and the only difference is additional CDMA bands on the Verizon/Sprint phone. From what i see globally almost everywhere there is GSM support, so i'm hoping i'll be good to go as well when travelling?

Hello Neighbour (I'm from India). I'm doing exactly the same thing. You are very much on track. We only have 1 option, T-Mobile. As you said, we have GSM Network so it won't be a problem. Also worldwide almost all countries have GSM Network available.

The only downside is we will have less Data Speed compared to Sim-Free as T-Mobile iPhone X will be using Intel chip while iPhone X with CDMA has Qualcomm chip and it's a faster one. But none the less it won't really affect much practically. You will still get high speeds and it's more than enough for everyday usage.

Also if your friend starts iPhone X with T-Mobile Sim Card, it's not a problem at all. It will work in Pakistan without any issues as the iPhone is unlocked and needs no activation at all. Just think this way that you travelled from Pakistan to USA and you bought T-Mobile Prepaid Sim Card!

There is 1 more option.

1) You pre order your iPhone X (T-Mobile) on Apple.com

2) Activate your VPN and chat with Apple Customer Care and ask them to reserve your iPhone X Verizon for pick up from store. Store which is nearby to your friend's place.

3) If it all it's available for reservation, then your friend can pick it up from the store without any Verizon account details required.

This option is only available if the store can reserve your iPhone X and your friend might have to stand in the line for sometime.

Let's say your friend get's the reservation and he picks up iPhone X from the store, you can cancel your pre-order without losing a single dime. Apple only charges you when they ship and I know for sure that it won't ship directly once you place the order. It takes about 3-4 weeks. So you that much buffer of time to reserve iPhone X Verizon and get it picked up from the store. The only problem is the availability in store.

Hey Hey Neighbour! =) Thanks for the detailed response, hmmm that complicates stuff. I was expecting that if you manage to get in on the pre-orders in the very beginning, they get delivered by the launch date. 3-4 weeks is too long (Friend flies out 9th November).

The other option you mentioned, If you just hop on the chat with customer service, they let you reserve a phone plain and simple (if they have it in stock, which i think is going to be impossible), no questions asked or payment made?

I highly doubt it will reach you by 9th November. I guess it's better to ask some Americans here who have been placing pre-orders before. I've ordered online but never done pre-order so there could be a different scenario.

I think my advice would be to place an order on October 27 and then wait until 2nd or 3rd November. If the shipment has no movement then just cancel the order. And all this while you can obviously try to reserve iPhone X at the store.

Honestly, your situation looks very tough. I guess one needs at least a month to get iPhone via online order from Apple.com

I also suggest you to search and check the Thread related to iPhone 7 Plus Pre Order. That will give you some fair amount of precise time for the shipment.
