What’s the benefit of picking up with Apple in-store? Higher chance of receiving on launch day? Lower risk of package being delayed or “missing” with UPS?

Also, are the Pro Max cases going on sale tonight as well?
For me, it saves a day of anxiously tracking my delivery and makes it easier to know exactly when and how I'll have my new phone.

Ooo congrats! I would love to hear your thoughts. I cancelled my order after seeing multiple videos wallet not staying on the phone very well when going in and out of pockets.
I personally love it. In my opinion, it was never meant to stick strongly to the back of the phone. Especially knowing that you need to remove the wallet from the phone to pull any of the cards out anyways (the thumb hole is on the side that sticks to your phone). That in mind, I think the magnets are at the perfect amount of strength. Strong enough to hold it in your hand and shake your phone without fear of it slipping off, but easy enough to push my finger and get it off if I want to grab my wallet while its in the pocket, but not take out my phone.

The lack of space for cards is concerning -- they say 3 cards, but if one of those is an Apple Card, things are super tight. I tried off-setting by doing Apple Card, regular Visa card and drivers license (thinner than a credit card) and it make it manageable, but still not much room for movement.

Cool thanks. Mmm I may have to rethink LOL. But I also carry my tips in cash with me so that may be a problem.

iOS 14.2 released, if you're on the beta, get the final version so you're not on the beta when the iphone 12 pro max (in blue with everyone else) arrives, along with iPad OS 14.2, watch OS 7.1

are we thinking the Pro Max will be in high demand/fast delivery delays this year?

I'm thinking so. It's hard to say exactly how fast since the Mini will be a factor as well. Not only do you have those of us who have been waiting for the Pro Max, there's also a number of people who thought they wanted the Pro (or were just trying it out), but are now switching for the Pro Max.

The best thing to do is to be ready with multiple devices, close any unnecessary programs/apps, and make sure your internet/data is the fastest speed, especially if you are after Pacific Blue or Graphite.

Probably will the same as every year, dates will slip quickly. We’ll be ready

I benefited from picking up at the Apple Store near me because my pre-ordered 12 Pro didn't make it on launch day.

I got lucky because there were tons of the Pacific Blue 12 Pro available on launch day in 9 stores near me but they disappeared by the end of the launch weekend...

OTOH my preordered 12 Pro arrived earlier in this week and just sent her back unopened with a nasty note to Apple - not to screw pre-orders that were paid IN ADVANCE !

I just checked my email count and it is WORSE

Don’t feel bad. Here is my count for emails and not much for texts.

Did you order two iPhones, one for delivery and one for store pickup? I'm starting to think the store pickup option upon preorder tomorrow is the better avenue to go, or does it not matter?

I've preordered iPhones upon iPhones over the years, but I'm so out of sync as my current unit is iPhone X.

EDIT: Wait a second, you can't do store pickup upon preorder if I recall correctly. You have to rely on available stock on launch day, correct?

UGH!

Yes, pre-order and Apple store.

Apple store pickup depends on what inventory they receive so it pays to check for the phone availability (color, carrier, storage) at each Apple store location nearest you.

They have a 15 minute window for appointments.

I got lucky with a high in demand iPhone during launch day so I returned the online phone when it finally arrived 3 weeks later.

Quite angry at Apple for not making online pre-orders a priority because they paid in advance of launch day...

Anyone in a rising COVID area and thinking about retail closures like what happened in the UK? I prefer to pick it up in store on launch day because it avoids my worrying about UPS just skipping my house for the day (has happened several launch days), they deliver late in the day, and not worrying about tracking it.
However, I’m worrying about a possible COVID closure. If the local stores (3 possible ones) close because of government induced lockdown or on their own accord, I’d have to wait a while till they opened back up or I could get a new order delivered which would be a few weeks by how the Pro inventory is looking at the moment.
