I think people weren’t as into it since this happened so long after the Apple iPhone Event. Stores are closed Black Friday sales. Election madness. Too much time since announcements. People forgot If they weren’t on MacRumors? Also we didn’t compete with 12 and 12 Pro. Glad all four iPhones didn’t order at the same time.
It has to be a blend of these things. Was still able to snag a 11/13 window 37 minutes later. Shoot I wish it had been this way for the 12 Pro!

Just a PSA. Checked iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max in all gold and blue in all storage and carriers with full payment, all still available for 11/13 delivery.

I did not get in until around 8:23am EST on computer browser, but was able to order from the phone app by 8:13am.

Got in and got my phones. Had to switch and order my wife's phone through verizon due to her trade it responsibilities. This was the most frustrating apple order experience ever.

I just went in and put in a mini also, just for the heck of it, and at 7:40 central time, I could still have a black, 128 gb delivered next Friday. I was shocked.

Ordered an unlocked 12 PM on the site. It took like 10 mins maybe longer for the store to go live. Very odd. Was a choppy experience going through the steps. Surprised that trade-in is not an option in-store. Guessing due to Covid. This was the first time I ordered on Apple's site and not AT&T and I really preferred it. Also really preferred this versus using the Apple Store app. Opted for in-store pickup as I hate the feeling when iPhones are being delivered to my house. Would much rather pick a time slot and get it then.
As you will see, a LOT of people request that UPS hold their packages at the Customer Center and pick them up. That's what I have done for the last 10 years.

Is it possible to change the pay method after the fact? I rather use debit than Apple card.

Apple's Store finally went live for me at 5:27am. Got my order in for Pro Max, Pacific Blue, 512GB and also picked up a MagSafe Charger, 20W Power Adaptor, and Apple's Deep Blue Silicon Case. Nov 13 delivery on the phone.

I was not impressed with how Apple kept displaying the "Almost There, still putting the finishing touches on the store" message. When the store is supposed to be live at 5am and you got up in the middle of the night, that kind of message drives angst and worry. If it is as simple as the website is flooded and Apple's servers can't handle it, why not put up a message that says "Demand is high, but don't worry, we'll get you in as soon as possible"?

Not impressed Apple. That was a poor shopping experience.
Did you use the App on your iPhone? That opened for me on my iPhone minutes before my iMac or iPad.

How dare Apple not allow millions of people gain access to their website at 1 time.
Admittedly maybe I'm cranky because I am only 4 hours into my sleep when I got up to preorder, but all I'm saying is the way Apple displayed the Almost There message, it led one to believe the online store was still not ready yet. They could have at least said the store was up, but simply busy and to try again later.
