Yes the iphone apple store app seems to almost be the required ticket. Even the app on my iPad did not show my preapproval setup from Tuesday only the iPhone (did not try the browser on my MacBook at all) The message from apple to setup my preapproval took me to my iPhone and I think apple prefers for faceID verification and phone data verification ease on our orders.
I found out a few days ago from a message on my iPad that only your iPhone will have the preapproval setup. Not an iPad, not an iPod Touch and not apple.com on a Mac. Weird.
 
Managed to enter the damn website on my iPad after trying it like a crazy person on my MacBook and two different iPhones including the Apple Store App.

In-Store Pick up on the 13rd in Berlin! I actually wanted to finance it but the stupid website of the credit banking provider keeps crashing so I decided to just pay it in full ...

What a fiasco, probably on my part. Was ordering swimmingly on my iPhone and kept getting interruptions when processing payment. Kept going kept going kept going. Nothing.

Switched to the Mac, and busted my way through most of the checkout. "Maximum number of attempts allowed, please choose a different payment method." I was using my Apple ID balance and four gift cards, plus an Amex to cover the difference, but it wouldn't let me no matter if I changed my CC to cover the balance remaining. I think it saw my 7,000 attempts on the iPhone app as being an issue.

So, I just winged it and checked out with Apple Pay using my Apple Card and it went through for a November 13 store pickup at 8:15 a.m. So, now I'm sitting on a zillion dollars in ID credits and gift cards still (saved over a four-year period), but I guess those can be applied when I pick up the new iPad Pro in the spring.

Long story short, I'm in for a launch day pickup at 8:15 a.m.! iPhone, Pacific Blue, 512 GB that'll be replacing my iPhone X 256 GB that has a swollen battery (don't think I can get any trade-in; just need it to not catch fire for the next week).

Kind of glad I don't have to watch UPS airplanes departing China this time...LOL
You can try call Apple and see if they can apply the gift card balance. I called to change credit card last month. Maybe they’ll do the gift card too.
 
I did. It finally opened at 8:10am but then I received an error message to contact Apple so I finished it on the website by 8:11am. I’m a little worried because my card isn’t showing a pending charge to make sure I have the funds. Do it typically show up and then fall off and show again when it’s preparing for shipping? I did get a confirmation email.

Yes, that is the way it usually works. But not sure how soon the pending charge shows up. Mine hasn’t yet either.
 
That's the way it has always been, a gradual rollout. I vaguely remember a video about their operations center where they try to manage this huge hit on their servers. I usually don't get in until 10 minutes or so later, got in at 5:03 this time so looked to me as if it was faster. Did see that some didn't get in until 30 minutes after.

So do you spend a ton of money for hardware (or data center access) for a peak demand that is only going to last for maybe an hour once every year? If they did then Apple things would be even more expensive.
Understand the gradual roll-out (used to work on servers in IT, a long time ago) but it would be nice if it weren't so sloppy. Maybe they should use Amazon/Microsoft cloud and they could get the temporary bump when needed. :)

So glad you finally got through. I ordered Gold Pro Max 256GB on 1UP at 4:01 AM. What did you end up ordering?

Pacific Blue 256GB Sim-Free. I’m even more excited now because I’m off next Friday, but I think I’m going to have it held at the hub if I get a late delivery time. I do have the premium UPS my choice membership so I’m hoping I can pick a 2 hour confirmed window.
 
Too many complaints on here in the past about UPS drivers never ringing the doorbell, or they ring it once and then take off before anyone can get to the door. Then you're stuck waiting until Monday. If you can, have them hold it at the CC and pick it up.
We have 2 coming via UPS and one for Apple Store pickup (mine). I know it's fun to watch it sit in ZhengZhou, but knowing i can get it at 8:00am next Friday is relaxing. I'll still be here with your guys watching.

Apple took long enough for me to get in - about 15 minutes. Verizon came up first (as always), then the Apple app came up on my phone, but not the iPad, but finally the website came online. It was behaving really strange at first, took me straight to pick up and then all kinds of fun.

I held out and still got launch day delivery! YES!!

Nothing in the account yet, but I received the email.

Glad it came through, I had a Zoom meeting start at 7:30 this morning!

Let the fun begin!!

My daughter is hiking / camping out near Moab, and drove towards town to get enough of a cellular signal to order... dedication or sickness?
I had to order one time from Maui, HI. It was earlier there so I was at a party on the beach and I had a long walk back to the hotel so I could get cell service to order my iPhone! My husband wondered where I had gone. Lol
 
Does anybody know how many iPhones you can order per Apple ID? I say Apple ID and not per credit card because previously each year me and the mrs use the same card to order two phones each , this year however the mrs ordered 4 and received 4 email confirmations and I ordered 2 and received 2.
Will any of them get cancelled?

Apple's Store finally went live for me at 5:27am. Got my order in for Pro Max, Pacific Blue, 512GB and also picked up a MagSafe Charger, 20W Power Adaptor, and Apple's Deep Blue Silicon Case. Nov 13 delivery on the phone.

I was not impressed with how Apple kept displaying the "Almost There, still putting the finishing touches on the store" message. When the store is supposed to be live at 5am and you got up in the middle of the night, that kind of message drives angst and worry. If it is as simple as the website is flooded and Apple's servers can't handle it, why not put up a message that says "Demand is high, but don't worry, we'll get you in as soon as possible"?

Not impressed Apple. That was a poor shopping experience.
Judging from the tone of your post I bet you're not impressed by much.
 
excited to see everyone getting their phones and release date delivery. i’m going to have a blast reading everyone’s tracking posts. opted out the Pro Max this year but can’t wait to see everyone’s pics next Friday. happy preorder Friday!
