I have had a 256 GB every phone since iPhone X, and I checked mine before ordering and had 90 GB used. These days, with all the iCloud services and optimization features, you need less than you did years ago.Go big or go home!
But seriously, I have always gotten the largest capacity phone because of all the movies and shows I download for my kids in case of power outages from storms. Just a habit I guess. The difference in price is negligible on IUP anyway but I’ll never get more than 512 though.

Partially agree, but I don't think it was a patience issue, just that most people went with the standard size this year, 12 mini too small, max too big. A lot of people are just skipping this round altogether.
Well what time does UPS normally deliver to your place? I'd say it will be around then.
I agree, I do not touch those deliveries. I requested a hold for pickup and somehow it delayed the package like two days.
I was surprised to see that I can pick up my cases in store today!

I was able to order a Pro Max to pick up in store as I’ll be in the States next week, however I have an iPhone X for trade in and I see they will be sending a box to a fake address (as I don’t live in the US) but I was hoping to do the trade-in in store when I pick up my phone. I did it for the X a few years ago but I don’t know if nowadays is possible due to COVID 😣
This was my issue too! Finally had to pivot and change payment methods for some reason, doing so on my Mac and not on my iPhone which I had originally intended.
All of those are factors sure, they always are. And putting the most popular 2 models in the first batch obviously made this one slimmer. But those numbers are more "over time" numbers. During the pre-order, its a particular class of user that is ordering...and you can even seen it in the comments over the last month how many people normally would get a Max just couldn't wait and ordered a regular Pro. A lot.

I think a lot of people find the 6.1” to be the sweet-spot. 6.7” is too large for most people.

Here yes, but as we are all aware, the vast majority of iphone users are not like the people that are posting here.
Have it held at UPS CC so that you can pick it up on that day instead of waiting for the driver.
My driver didn't arrive till 8pm that night!
I was able to get the Silver, Graphite and Gold Pro Max 256GB's without an issue for pick-up on Friday 11/13, I just checked again and there is still pick-up available for 11/13 at my local store and surrounding ones as well, does not look like a sellout as quick as the pro models did when they launched. So hopefully everyone can get a shot this time. Good luck !

hmmmm I ordered the same phone twice with the same Apple ID. Once as a in-store pick up and again as a financed option (delivery) and now the 2nd order (financed) disappeared from my account and the link in the booking confirmation also leads to an error page

It has to do with the servers. I checked on my iPad it showed up. Also, checked on the browser and it was there. Just not showing up on an iPhone. It’ll show up later today.
Placed my order this morning on the apple store app seconds after it finally opened up. Successfully ordered a Pacific blue iPhone 12 Pro Max 512 G with delivery on launch day. Added a kumquat silicone case. Excited for the new camera in particular since I currently have an iPhone XS Max.

Based on previous issues with the 12/12 Pro launch, duplicate orders are cancelled by Apple because they think you are re-selling one of them...
Call Apple to see what actually happened.
