Well, it depends on your preferences. I don't want to take the day off of work to wait at home. I've found that I have to be vigilant to watch for the UPS truck because if I'm say in the backyard or restroom when the driver shows up, he may not leave the package even if I've left a signature on the door (the drivers have this discretion), and then I have to either wait for the next delivery day or go to the CC that evening when the trucks get back. Someone else mentioned the possibility that a driver could say he made an attempt to deliver, but he never actually showed up at your house (it can happen).

I prefer having it held at the CC because I can pick it up at my leisure, usually first thing when they open or on my lunch break. Even if there is a line to pick up packages, I'm in and out in 15 minutes at the most. Of course, things could go wrong with the hold for pickup option, too, but it's worked well for me.

There's also the consideration of how far you're willing to drive to a CC.
great info thanks, I live like 15 min from the Independence CC.

Anyone know if our phones will be delivered by a UPS crew separate from the daily UPS ground delivery crew? My UPS guy usually comes around 4:30pm but he only delivers ground shipments so I am considering going to the UPS hub to pick it up first thing Friday morning.

The last time I pre ordered for launch day delivery, UPS delivered my iPhone around 8:30am. They normally deliver around 4-6pm for any other packages to my residence.

I would prefer to hold it at UPS CC for morning pickup but I don't have a tracking number yet and apple.com still says preparing for shipment.

Does anybody think it would be too close to Friday to request a hold at the CC? I heard it takes a day for the request to process. So even if I get a tracking number, say tonight, should I still try to have them hold it or just wait around at home? I kinda don't want to give UPS more chances to f*** up ;)

And the excitement builds.....!!!

My 128 GB Rose Gold 6S Plus left Anchorage at 2:28 this morning. It's likely headed to Knoxville, if it follows the same pattern as last year. Somehow it can make it from Tennessee to LA to my local distribution center overnight and be at my house right on time. If you think about the logistics in all this, it's mind boggling. Someone should make a movie about it!!!

I requested hold for pickup through the web site a couple days ago and it updated immediately.

I just got my Origin Scan for Nashville; my phone has been in Mt. Juliet since I ordered. Hopefully leaving soon for St. Louis. Apple still says "Preparing for Shipment."

UPS finally picked up my phone from Apple's Mt Juliet warehouse. It's now boarding a cargo plane from Nashville to Tampa. Hope it likes warm weather.

Why do you think it's going to Knoxville???? Louisville, KY would be the obvious choice.

Mine is departing from Harrisburg PA but apple emailed me that due to traffic restrictions in NY, it might NOT be delivered on the 25th but on the 26th instead.

I don't blame Apple for ignoring the PFS emails. Can you even begin to imagine what a nightmare it would be to update each iPhone? I'm sure they are well aware of how those who REALLY want to know what's happening with their orders also know how to find out - without Apple's constant involvement. And I have no doubt a "shipped" email will arrive Thursday (tomorrow) with the delivery date of Friday. That one is a "heads up" to make arrangements to either be there to sign or make alternative arrangements.

I think this period between ordering and delivery is the most FUN of the whole process!! As I mentioned in an earlier post, I wasn't going to get a 6S Plus - totally happy with my 6 Plus - but when midnight 9/12 arrived I couldn't stand being left out of this whole process and ordered a 6S Plus. No regrets!!!!

Usually the phones are on a container with thousands of other phones. They will scan one barcode for that container and it updates all the phones in that container at the same time. This allows them to only have to scan 40-50 items instead of tens of thousands of items.

So my tracking has not updated since yesterday morning saying it left Harrisburg. So I was just curious and hit the chat button and gave me even more info on the last location even though it was not in the regular tracking page. Thought this was interesting, it also says things about Apple setting restrictions on the shipments.

My phone just got scanned in at Nashville after two days of "Label printed; waiting for pickup", so they must be scanning in warehoused phones for delivery now.
