Finally got my tracking updated, I'm guessing my phone missed the truck yesterday or something.

Can you tell me what to do to track my phone? I tried my order number and all of my account phone numbers with the UPS tracking. Mine still says preparing to ship also.
 
Sign up for a UPS MyChoice account. Its free and it shows you any packages heading to your address. That's how I found mine. Tracking by reference never worked for me.

As for picking up at a CC, on the tracking detail page is a "Change Delivery" button. You can step through this to see which options are available to you and which ones might result in a delay. You may not be able to do this until the package has actually been delivered to UPS first.

You can do it, but you will sit with an exception until the package is actually delivered to UPS. This doesn't mean something is wrong, it just means that UPS can't process the change until they actually have the package in their hands.

And yes, I'm posting this b/c I fully expect some folks to freak out when it happens to them. Don't worry - it's totally fine! :)

One of my phones has been sitting in that status since Monday:

Harrisburg, PA, United States 09/21/2015 1:46 P.M. Package is in transit to a UPS facility

This is me also. I wonder if it means the phones are just hanging out waiting to ship, or if they're actually in transit to a different UPS facility than the one in Harrisburg.
 
My phone still shows "preparing for shipment". I went to my UPS My Choice Account and it shows a packing to be delivered on 9/25. I checked and it shows scanned today in Nashville, TN coming from Mt. Juliet, TN which is an Apple distribution center. So the Apple site is not displaying up to the minute information but at least I know it on its way. i went ahead and changed the delivery and have it held for pickup. If your phone is coming via UPS, sign up for the free service and use UPS My Choice!!!

@rarebeauty has it. That's what I did. UPS had it in their system last Friday I think it was. As soon as it showed up, I had it rerouted to the UPS Store closest to my work so I can pick it up at my leisure.

Ordered at 3:08am, iPhone 6S 64GB Verizon. Space Grey. Still "preparing for shipment" for about 4 days now :(

I estimate they will start leaving in an hour and a half. But there's no guarantee anybody will be shipped out of Louisville on these flights. They have four shipping cycles to get all the phones out to their destination hubs.

My order status at apple.com still says, "Preparing for Shipment" with a delivery date of 9/25. If it has not shipped yet, is there still a chance it will arrive on the 25th?

When I look up my UPS tracking number, by reference since I haven't received a shipping notification, it shows the status, "Order Processed: Ready for UPS"

Does anyone know if phones are shipped overnight even though "standard shipping" is the delivery method?

Anyone else seeing the same status on their end?
 
For people who have PFS on the Apple website or on their app, if you have UPS MyChoice, put in your "Billing" phone number. I kept putting in my cell phone number and nothing came back. I kept getting something like "No information on that tracking number" or something similar. When I put in my billing number I got the following back. (I can't post a screenshot from here):
