I will have mine held for pickup because then I can get it early in the AM when they open. If I wait for them to deliver it I will have to wait until after 5:00PM when they get around to delivering in my neighborhood.

I've done this before, lastly for my Apple Watch.

I was able to change my shipping address to my work through the apple website. (I ordered on the Apple site) so it seems I am set for the 25th. Kind of wished I started getting further updates, but alas I will have to play the waiting game at this point.

Just an FYI to all you psychos out there checking your status every hour. My Apple Watch didn't change to shipped until Thursday and I picked it up Friday morning at the UPS hub.

True, but by then we will already be tracking the planes and trucks so we will have a pretty good idea where our phones are in transit. :)

Everyone always say that it should show up on your profile when you order from Apple. But each time I have preordered my phone with Apple, it has never shown up there before arriving. And yes I am checking the correct site. Do I have to enable this feature?
Mine has alway shown up when status changes to 'preparing for shipment' or some time around there.

I know this question has been asked in the last few days but.....it's a lot of threads to go through to find....

I just purchased 2 phones outright to use on my AT&T acct.

My plan was to atleast buy them and have them on order in case wait times just get longer and longer. Once they arrive I plan to return them and re-purchase them using the Apple Upgrade Program. We can do this right??

Not sure if you can re-purchase the phones that you just returned.

As is stands right now you would have to make and appointment to use the Apple Upgrade program, and if they have the phones you want in the store then that could work out. IMHO I would call Apple and ask the question.

It would be at the discretion of the Apple retail store manger. They definitely have the capability, since i've returned something before and repurchased the same item, but with a gift card instead.

Well I might add that I just purchased them today so the shipping date isn't even until mid to late October. So in theory, there may be stock on hand by then so I don't see why not :). In the meantime I am going to continue looking for store reservations/new stock in the stores while waiting!

Guess I'm in. I ordered about an hour ago and still have delivery for 9/25. Status processing. Ordered the 16gb rose gold 6s.

If you have it held at UPS does it ever delay your shipment? I'm thinking of doing this so I don't have to camp out on the couch and wait for UPS to deliver.

Right now most of the orders should have moved to processing and we should start seeing some movement to 'preparing for shipment' later this week (or eariler). Once this happens we should be able to get details on your phone and let the tracking begin :)

Here are some notes to help track orders:

Apple will automatically add your phone with it's serial number in your support profile. You can see it here:
https://supportprofile.apple.com/

You can look up the week of manufacture and factory here: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

Excellent info!

Ok, maybe this help.

I live outside of USA, so I have to use a freight forwarder addresses (P.O. box address) which is forbidden in Apple Store but they still ship it anyway :p BUT now I have 2 orders of iPhone 6s and has just reached me the warning (for use P.O. box address) in one of the orders. Coincidentally the warning is for an order that I consulted in the Chat Apple website because I was worried that I did not reach the confirmation email several hours after the pre-order (and the other pre-order send me the confirmation email like 15min after), so I think that's why they were "warned" the situation and I got the notification.

This notification says:

The order you recently placed with the Apple Store cannot be processed because Apple does not ship to freight forwarder addresses.

To allow us to process your order, please reply to this email with a domestic shipping address and your order number. Please note, if the new shipping address is also a freight forwarder, your order will be cancelled. If you do not reply within 7 days then your order will be canceled and you will not be charged.

We appreciate your business and apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any questions, please call 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).

What tell us this? We have to wait at least 7 days to see changes in our orders, counting from 13/09

Hope this help :)

My advice for anyone who wants to know the moment their phone ships is to set up a UPS my choice and whatever Fedex equivalent is. I have mine sent to send me a text anytime a new package is being scheduled to delivered, and I normally recieve the notification when the status is "A shipment label has been created..." Until then, find something to keep your mind off it

If you have it held at UPS does it ever delay your shipment? I'm thinking of doing this so I don't have to camp out on the couch and wait for UPS to deliver.
If you know the route packages normally take when on UPS, have it held at the location that is before "out for delivery". That way the package would have been there anyway by that day so that it could be delivered by the scheduled date.

For tracking via reference number, you guys are saying to use a phone number. I bought mine unlocked, so what phone number should I use?

It's the phone number on the Apple account you used to buy it.

Sign up for a MyChoice account (this is free). Then when it ships, just go into the app and request to have it held. It will let you pick the location, and then it will put everything into pending for a while, but as long as you've done this before the phone arrives at your local hub, you should be good to go without a delay.

People sometimes see delays if their change doesn't go through until after the phone has arrived at the hub, even if it's not out for delivery, as it may have already been sorted onto the truck. If you make the change as soon as the phone ships, then the change will be processed before the phone arrives and you'll be good to go.

Never had mine held but I think I will do it this time around. Don't feel like waiting until 5/6pm EST to see it. I can drive to the hub and have it that morning.

My son's school is closed on 9/25 because The Pope's US visit hits NYC. So I'm quite happy that I "need" to take the day off from work as I can spend the day with the boy and have the added bonus of getting my hands on the phone the moment it arrives.

On the flip side however, the whole city is a mess of closed roads and diverted traffic. Hopefully deliveries that day aren't affected. My neighborhood isn't one of those closed to traffic the whole day, but it's nearby to quite a few of them.

Didn't know that, so I guess they could return phones and turn around and repurchase them on the Apple Upgrade plan.
