I would have been happy if my phone showed up that early. Last year it was close to 8PM before it arrived. I may choose hold for pick up instead.

I highly recommend hold for pick up. Get phone as early as possible and no line at UPS. 3 people at my UPS center. Was done so early I could not get in Apple store yet to pick up a case. Looooooooooooooooong line at the Apple Store. Had my phone in my pocket. :)

Here is my timeline from last year for iPhone 6.

Well they can release them early but I doubt they will.

If the phones ship this week, wouldn't they just be sitting at our local UPS facilities for several days? In that case, couldn't we just intercept it and pick it up and get it early? Maybe slip the clerk a couple bucks to release it early ;)

So I just looks for the closest UPS Customer Center? Cool, looks like I'll get my phone on my lunch break instead of at 6-7pm!

I'm having it delivered at work and it's always there around 11ish AM. I'm not gonna touch it and just let it deliver there. My work address is not on my state ID and that would be a problem picking it up at the hub.

I'm planning on having it held at my local UPS store. It's less than 5 minutes away from my house whereas my hub is over 30 minutes away. I get out of class at about 10:30 so I'll head over around then. Can't wait!

I knew that you could hold packages at the distribution centers. However I didn't know you could get packages held at the local ups stores. How do you do this? Once you get a tracking number can you go to ups.com?

You must be a UPS My Choice member to do so. Once you've signed up for that just go into the app and select pick up in store and it'll give you a list of stores to pick it up at. Do this as soon as you can as others have said, if you do it too late it can delay the shipment.

But I thought you wanted it to be at a Customer Center and not a regular UPS Store

Ordered at approximately 3:08 a.m on Saturday morning, got my confirmation email at about 3:18 a.m. Still processing here but i feel better that no one else has gotten beyond it either!

we're not going to see any preparing for shipment until next weekend at the earliest....
If you mean this Friday/Saturday/Sunday which is this weekend then yes I agree.

But that still falls under later this week Friday and Saturday IMO.

They hold them.... Tried it last year. Apple had some kind of agreement that they were forbidden... That's not saying someone won't let one slip...

Look for the customer center that services your home address. That's where it usually is like 3-4am and then hold it there and get it when they open.

Good effort on trying to get it early, but so far I haven't heard of anyone pulling that off.

This second week is killing me, but I guess there must be a reason that Apple changed the time between pre-orders and launch dates.

I want to pick up my iPhone myself and not get delivered (since I will be at work and nobody will be at home). Do I have to set a UPS hub to pick it up on the launch day or a "The UPS Store" could work just fine?

You can choose either, but there is some debate whether choosing a UPS Store might delay delivery by a day. My UPS hub is not far, so I always choose the hub. It's an easy pickup for me.

Thanks for the response. The hub is the "UPS customer center" in their website?

As a ups my choice member to make sure it doesn't get delayed the easiest way to do this is to go onto your default delivery options (assuming you aren't expecting anything else until next Friday) and find the ups store you want it delivered to and set that as your default pick up location, that way you don't have to make sure you do it quick enough to not miss launch day

If you do this, know that EVERYTHING that UPS ships you will go there until you switch it back. So if you get a lot of packages, you might not want to do this until it's closer to the 25th, and make sure to switch it back as soon as you get your phone.

You can do either. I like my local store as pickup is super easy and it's close to my house. Picking up at my local hub is a real pain as they're not designed for front desk work and there's no customer parking at all.

For my store, packages are usually there and ready for pickup btw 10:30 and 11. Sure, I *might* be able to get it earlier at the hub, but it's such a hassle that I'd rather wait.

So how does this work? Does it get sent from the hub to your local store that morning of launch? Or does it get sent to the local store INSTEAD of the hub the night before? Im just trying to figure out the quickest way of picking it up.
