My order (64gb black at&t) which I placed on Oct 7 at 7:30AM EST was showing "preparing for shipment" until last night when it actually shipped out. Its now in "Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong" scheduled for delivery for 10/14

Apple.com pre-orders: Who's stuck in "Preparing for Shipment"

Even though I found my phone on UPS website and knew it had shipped, i just received the email confirmation from apple that it shipped. This is the first time I received my phone from UPS, always received thenm from Fed-Ex.
Tracking on the UPS reference site was done by using my phone number, the order number did not work for me. I only input my phone number and not even the country or zip code.
My 32 GIG white ATT is on its way.

I finally got my tracking info by phone number with no zip code. My order on Apple.com still says Preparing for shipment.

well I finally found the tracking on UPS's site for my phone. The only way I found it was by putting in the order number that I received from Apple in an email they sent asking if I wanted apple care +. The second order number started with a 7, not a W...
I hardly frequent these forums anymore... but figured i'd come over and look to see how everyone else's orders were fairing.

I finally found my phone on UPS! I just put in the billing phone number (not the country or zip code) on Track by Reference! The last step my iPhone has completed was an Origin Scan in Shenzhen, China at 7:45 local time. Hopefully it will depart soon! I'm just glad to finally know that my iPhone will be shipping!

Yours was probably lost in transit somewhere. Maybe it fell out of the plane.
Still not updated on Apple, but the UPS trick finally worked for me.

After many days of painful waiting, the UPS trick worked. My 64 GB black iPhone 4S is still in China. ETA Friday, 10/14, by end of day.

So I finally got my shipment notice. I, for one, would like to know how Apple plans to get my package to Atlanta from China in two days without using teleportation. I assume there is no iPhone pony express with Tim Cook delivering phones so how does that even work?!

Ordered Friday about 2pm Eastern. Been stuck in Preparing for Shipment until this morning. The UPS trick was not working for me last night. Apple account shows shipped this morning. Still scheduled for 10/14/11 end of day according to UPS.
By the way, using the Reference Tracking at UPS, I needed the BILLING phone number! Not the main phone number for my Apple/iTunes account.
Which worried me, but I verified it will be shipped to me and not the billing address.

what did you use for reference? if it was your phone # what format did you type it?
Yeah mine is still preparing for shipment. I called apple this morning they said that it is still going to ship today, but nothing on UPS so im a tad worried...Im in MN
