My confirmation email is timed stamped 3:11am and my order is still "preparing for shipment".

I hope that status changes soon or I will start to worry.

Your phone is sitting safely in Kentucky. Mine did the same thing until last night when I was able to track with my cell.

Your forgetting about everyone downloading iOS 6......

Don't the new phones come peloaded with iOS6, so all the you have to deal with it the ATT or Carrier activation servers, not the iOS servers? Do you think there is an iOS update by now that the phones will be looking for?

I don't think activation and iOS6 conflict besides perhaps bringing the internet to its knees?

The conversation may go like this... "President, President, we can't seem to reach any of our forces" "Why" " The internet is clogged because everyone in the world seems to be activating their iPhone5 and downloading iOS6"

I may be wrong, but I am pretty certain you can just activate the phone directly from the phone w/o having to use itunes or calling the provider.

This is true, you only need to turn it on and follow the instructions to activate, if that's all you want to do. HOWEVER, you have to use iTunes backup or the iCloud backup to restore all your apps, data, photos, etc. Be safe, back up the old phone first, unless this is your first iPhone, as you will not have anything to restore.

okay this could be a very dumb question but it is something that hasnt crossed my mind until now... how exactly does one activate a preorder phone once they have received it in the mail? (AT&T if it matters)

Since this was brought up...I'm on ATT, but preordered through apple. If I want to set up as completely new, all I do is turn on phone and follow steps, and the phone will be activated for me?

I agree ... iOS downloads may put a load on Apple servers, but I believe that activation issues are more constrained by database operations on the carrier's side.

Anyones phone on the same boat as mine:confused:

Don't stress about where your phone is located or what time it leaves a location. If your date says 9/21, you will get it on that date. UPS has to hold all the phones until 9/21, everyone will get their phones on the same day regardless.

I am not stressing...I get a kick out of tracking it. Gives me something to do when I have a few minutes to kill. I imagine many feel the same here.

As most of our phones begin converging on Louisville and other hub locations, it won't be long before we all start going our separate ways. will be interesting to see the movements from here. looking forward to seeing mine arrive at DFW Airport in the tracking logs!

I can't keep checking, it makes it feel longer for me. For me, it's like watching a clock. I will check it again Thursday to make sure nothing crazy happened lol
