Quick question. Do you guys know if the new SIM card for ATT comes with the phone? Cause as far as I know the sim cards are different than the iPhone 4's and won't work with the new iPhone. Do I have to go to the ATT store or Apple store to get a new sim card?

Your iPhone will come with a nano SIM.

I don't understand why pre-ordered phones have to wait until an official launch. If people who ordered online happen to get them days early then what the stores should get them then so what. It's obvious that online orders can start receiving them now but they choose to wait for 1 specific day and cause all sorts of hell for the system when trying to activate them. Freakin apple lol

AT&T-locked phones have always come with a new SIM.

The SIM card for the phone is pre-installed and comes with the phone. No extras.

Support for example (Apple + carriers). With probably the largest consumer device release in history -- certain things need to be ready. If calls trickle in early, staff may not be prepared to give correct info. Just one thought. Another is Apple not wanting vendors to be upset that another vendor, or they, deliver a device before it was agreed upon.

Don't forget (I'm sure no one here will) to upgrade to iOS 6 tomorrow. iOS 5 iCloud backups won't work on an iPhone 5. That's always the most annoying thing if you have to get a replacement phone from a Genius. You first have to have the same version of iOS on both devices to be able to restore.

Question - I am going to be giving my iPhone 4s to my mother on Friday. She has an iPhone 4. Should they both be updated to iOS 6 or should I keep them both on iOS 5 to make the swap easier? Or does it matter one way or the other?

Thanks so much :)

What's up ordered on the 1st hour, mine said delivery date 21th,and still sitting in China.

Adding my info

Not that there isn't enough info, but this is what I've seen:

1) Ordered a 16 GB White iPhone (AT&T) @ 1:14am MST on the Apple Store website.

2) Received e-mail confirming order at the same time.

3) On Sunday status changes to Preparing for Shipment.

4) I couldn't find my tracking info until Monday afternoon.

Delivery: 9/21 by 3:00 P.M.(by end of day for residential deliveries)

- Order Processed: United States @ 1:15am, 9/17
- Origin scan: Nashville, TN @ 12:01pm, 9/17
- Departure Scan: Nashville, TN @6:00pm, 9/17
- Arrival Scan: Louisville, KY @ 12:09am, 9/18
- Arrival Scan: Louisville, KY @ 10:00am, 9/18

5) Apple site still shows as 'Preparing for Shipment'.

I ordered this for my wife, as I used her upgrade last time around... I'm almost more excited than she is even though I'm not getting one til December :)

A few journalist were talking about this on a podcast the other day. Studies have shown that this method results in the best customer satisfaction overall, free advertising, and doesn't hurt the bottom line that much.. within the practical constraints. It may also eliminate most of the "scalping" type feeding frenzy. The only thing else that may work is to have a sliding scale price, day 1 price is $1000, day 2 is $900, day 3 is $800, etc. Although that will be the best for the bottom line, no one is going to do that (except maybe Samsung), as they think it will hurt customer satisfaction.

So Apple is doing the right thing for you and other consumers....

Consider yourself lucky, some phones here are nowhere to be found. It only takes 5-6 hours to fly a phone from China to Alaska, and another couple hours to Louisville.

Mine still says "preparing for shipment", but yet says "Delivers on 9/21"... I bought it at 2:02am PST.

Not real worried about it, the last few times i've done this it's done the same to me and I've gotten it on day of release... I actually got it one day early when the iPhone 4's came out.

I think it's real.. Some employees working for the carriers at distribution centers have been allowed to activate and use theirs, just not allowed to leave said distribution centers with the phone... according to another thread on macrumors

cough.. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1444002/
:D

I'd like to believe that it's true, but how can anyone with a screen name of "GFLovesMy9Inchr" be taken seriously?

It's closer to 12 hours total ;)

But, he should still get it by Friday.

Anyone further than KY? I'm still showing AK but it should update by tonight.
