So then I can put a class action lawsuit against apple because I was in middle of a 2 hour meeting during that time and they should do it when people are working. Wait, what about people working differential shifts, wait... UGH! Let it go

I admit that 3am ET was a little hard to do, but ill be honest i was going to get up or figure out what i had to do no matter what time they decided to start the preorders. The only frustrating thing for me about this whole iphone 5 preorder is how they have known for way longer then we have when they were going to do this and then they spring that preorders will start 2 days after they announce the iphone 5 so all customers are in a craze trying to figure out how theyre going to pay, what service to go with and tons of things really fast and then sell out of first batch in 1 hour. They shoulda been a little more prepared, i mean not only did they sell out extremely fast but i was up 10 minutes before 3 am ET and kept trying at&t website but it was down and then even the apple site was down for a little while otherwise i coulda had mine ordered right at 3 and had it for release. I realize if i could have dug around a little deeper and saw i could use the apple store app i could have done it right away but the whole point is, they should have been prepared and made it easy on all the people that got up right away to get it. Anyways it wont change my mind about apple and how much i love there products, i just cant get my head around the fact that a giant successful company cant figure out a way to make the preordering go alot smoother and easier. Seems like it will always be a problem even for future releases.

Pre-ordered from Apple Store, now my AT&T website profile says:

Contract end date - 09/14/2014

Unlimited data plan is the only thing keeping me with you, big blue.

Interesting. I ordered through the app on my iPhone. Received the email at 3:07 am eastern. Still listed as processing. My AT&T account changed my next upgrade eligibility date to 4/14/2014. I find it odd that your contract commitment is exactly 2 years and mine is 1 year 7 months:confused:.

That is a good thing imo.

My contract typically runs for 18 months.

My upgrade eligibility is the same as yours (20 or so months), but the contract term reflects 2 years.

1 year and 7 months is usually the date eligible for an upgrade on a 2 year contract. At least it was for me.

guys, waiting an extra week or two won't kill you. maybe there are bugs that will get ironed out by the time you get your phone. you never know.

class action lawsuit guy, you are a funny dude. hahaha thanks for the laugh.

Got my order and confirmation at 3:07 EST through the Apple store app. As of right now my status is:

Processing Items
Delivers 9/21 via standard shipping

Does it always take this long to process??

I'm on the phone now with corporate since I feel there's an issue regarding unfair arrangement of the pre-order process to favor the West coast over other parts of the country. By making the ordering start at a time which was much more reasonable for west coasters they shut easterners out of the pre-order process. I think there's a class action lawsuit in there.

Good grief. There is nothing on this Earth as patently dumb as this post.

For your sake, I hope you are kidding.

I used the Apple Store app. I intended to get up at 3am but it just didn't work out that way. I could never have imagined that in one hour the entire stock of preorders would be sold out unless of course there were never that many in stock to begin with..In that case shame on Apple for not having enough product on hand to meet the tremendous demand that they had to have known there would be based on previous releases. Mainly I'm pissed that I got up in the middle of the night to place the order when I could have accomplished the same thing later at a reasonable hour. Having the whole thing start in what are normal waking hours for all of the continental US would have made more sense. It would just have been a matter of going from AM to PM. I'm not going to say any more on this. I'll leave my order as is and the phone will come whenever it does. I have no intention of queueing up in that madness outside the store which happens every time a new iPhone comes out. I'm sure if I were to get in line I would go home empty handed since the people who camped out overnight would have already gotten all the stock on hand before anyone else had a chance.

I'm only kidding about the lawsuit part, not the fact that I was inconvenienced for nothing.

I pre ordered today and I tried to get a new AT&T account. I got a message about a deposit and then the order went though. My order says unlocked gsm.is it unlocked or do they all say that? It took forever to process but I did get a confirmation it ships on 18 or 19.

Wow, what a coincidence. We both received the confirmation email at the same time:D.

This is the first time I've ordered the iPhone online so this is new for me. I've read a few threads where "supposedly", their status was changed to preparing for shipment, or whatever it says, and they placed the order and received their confirmation at least 30 minutes after you and I did. As long as we get it on the 21st I will not worry about it. If I get mine early enough I will probably go to my local Apple store and just maybe, let those in line drool;), lol.

Oh, wow! :D

Yeah, it's my first time pre-ordering too. The others I just done a reservation and waited out at my local apple store. It would be nice though to see the status change to "preparing for shipment". Like you said though, I'm fine as long as I get it on the 21st. My girlfriend tried so hard to pre-order one this morning from the AT&T website and on the very last step, her internet went down. So yeah, I plan on rubbing it in a little bit too. ;)

I actually woke up at 2am CST and promptly ordered my wife a phone first then mine, no snags whatsoever. Both read shipping the 21st.

BUT! Checking my credit card they've only charged my account so far for one and it's mine, not my wife's, which I ordered first. Weird. We get a free iPhone 5 maybe? lol, sssshhhhh :p

Still processing here...ordered Black 32gb at 3:18AM ET. Hope it updates soon. I want that Sept 21st confirmation. Makes me nervous with dates changing

I have to change the billing address on a friends account because im using his upgrade and the address needs to be the same as the shipping address. When I change the billing address on verizon.com, it keeps forgetting the apartment 10 min after I enter and save it! ughhh

Still processing for mine too. I wonder how much carrier plays into this? Who else is with Sprint?

Mine always said:
Available to ship: 2 weeks
But this was just added:
Delivers Oct 5 via Standard Shipping :(:eek::mad:
Finally got through a 434am ET via Safari.

Was able to order on apple store app at 1:59 CST but panicked because it would ship to my parents six hours away. Spent the next twenty minutes trying to get on to AT&T to change it. Finally gave up and ordered from the apple store on my computer with no trouble at 2:20 CST. Order is now processing(delivering the 21st) and my credit card hasn't been charged at all. Will my CC be charged when it ships? And has anyone been moved to "preparing for shipment"?

I think it has varied for everyone on their CC getting charged. Mine was charged almost instantly after I pre-ordered.
