Exactly my point WTF ! lol. I'm on the same boat
I just want mine to leave KY already and get to my local hub so they can hopefully deliver it early.![]()
Ok, for everyone who is wondering why Apple has not updated status to shipped even though a lot of people have figured out how to get UPS tracking numbers (or FedEx).
For those who tracked from China- China is production. When you order something to be shipped to you, it is shipped from a distribution warehouse not production. UPS main hub is Louisville Ky, it is also a drop ship distribution center for many companies who do not warehouse their products.
For those that came from areas in the U.S. and it now appears to be headed to Ky - those places are holding areas for storage. If you got your SN and checked it at the monkey site in previous posts you probably found that your production week was July or August and cannot sit and take up room in the production plants so they get shipped over to the U.S. and sit in a holding area other than UPS's busiest center.
Tomorrow we will begin seeing movement of all products to destinations close to you for delivery on launch day. At that point, you will begin receiving ship notifications from Apple because at that point it will be shipping from distribution to you.
Now, is it possible some of us will get our shiny new toy and nothing ever update - you bet because things happen. But this is why nothing has been marked as shipped from Apple and nothing is really moving away from Ky.
All that being said, I have enjoyed tracking mine to Louisville just as much as others, all part of the excitement to me.
Still awaiting an arrival scan from AK 12:58 A.M.
My scheduled delivery also changed from end of day 9/21 to just 9/21![]()
Mine looks like it went from Louisville back to Anchorage.
Anchorage, AK, United States 09/18/2012 12:58 A.M. Departure Scan
Louisville, KY, United States 09/18/2012 12:07 A.M. Arrival Scan
Anchorage, AK, United States 09/17/2012 3:06 P.M. Arrival Scan
Have to share/vent:
Ordered on 9/14 @ 3:15AM (Sprint, 64, black). Confirmed by email from Apple & bank (pending payment). Today, had to check my balance for some stuff. My balance increased. Checked what was missing (take a guess). I almost had a hissy fit (is hissy still a used/cool word). Called my bank and they told me it was still there (purchase for the phone), just not showing on my statement. They told me to call Apple just in case.
Called Apple to address that matter and other stuff (like tracking). They told me my purchase was there and it's on for the 9/21 shipping. I asked about tracking and he said that more than likely, my phone was already here and I should get a tracking email tomorrow or Thursday. He said to check with the carrier for AppleCare (since many carriers don't cover theft/stolen for the iPhone). But the main thing was that my phone will be delivered on 9/21!
Also, let's say the manufacturing week is 37 vs 28... The newer the device, the more likelihood they discovered a defect in the manufacturing process and worked out the bugs. I pity those that got phones made in August, vs September.
I feel a "I survived Anchorage Departure 12:58" coming on as soon as we get a status update. Haha. Seriously though, I'm confident we'll all get our phones by 9/21 regardless of the UPS errors. I'm sure there's an enormous overload of traffic, and we very well may have taken off on the flight earlier, but the system didn't update. Whatever the case may be, as soon as I see a check in near my local hub, I'll know I am good to go!
My phone didn't show it was scanned at 3:51 this morning until about 5 pm tonight. UPS is way behind with the updates.
I'm sure the UPS backend is starting to get hammered with all these phones shipping.
Once those Apple order statuses change to "Shipped" all hell will break loose!![]()
What are you guys telling UPS to get them to hold your package without attempting a delivery?
