i am so glad i went to radio shack at 9am to pre-order the iphone 5...not only did i not have to wake up ridiculously early (live in central time zone) but i was the first person to pre order one and that was at 9!

not trying to be a jerk here or anything, but I work for RadioShack and we were told as of today "Not to promise customers delivery of iPhone 5 on 9/21 and will call when shipment arrives". You indeed may still get it on the 21st , but because of that memo I pre ordered mine on Apples website

That's exactly how best buy operates . I got screw over that way for the 4s. No thanks ...

Ordered 3 phones(in 3 different orders). 2 prepared for shipment. One still processing. Worried that because they are all shipping to the same address I will only get two. Any truth to that statement?

I preordered mine from verizon but my delivery date is the 28th. If they havent charged my card I might cancel and just go to verizon on launch date so I can have it on the 21th.

Does anyone in USA apple ATT order changed from "Processing item" to "Preparing for Shipment" .

As i can see some UK user's iphones are already in Preparing for Shipment status now.

My order was placed at 1:14AM (MST) and is still listed as processing.

As long as it drops on the 21st, I wont freak out.

pre-ordered an AT&T 16GB through Apple Store app at 12:08 PST and my order is still in the processing stage. I really don't understand how they are handling these. At least my delivery date still says Sept 21st.

Mine has changed to "Preparing for Shipment." Not exactly sure when this change took place but it was somewhere between 8:30pm and now 10:15pm PST I was out of the house for dinner. I received my order confirmation e-mail at 12:21am PST.

Last year mine didn't ship until Thursday (shipped overnight from the USA), and although it arrived on Friday, it was still crappy waiting for it to ship while everyone else's was shipped! I just ordered a 2nd 16g black,this one from AT&T site via Premiere.Says ships in 14-21 days,just like last year if you didn't order on opening day.I'll see which progresses faster (I would hope Apple since it was 22.5 hours earlier) and cancel the other.
It was 20 days last year-no problem as it was my 1st.
