Ordered at 3:45 AM EST. Order is "processing."
As a side note, the hold for $488.89 just fell off my Chase account. Should I be concerned or will they re-charge before it ships?

Is it possible its taking awhile because im having my number ported from att to verizon?
Hopefully later today we'll get the email. 32 is just the right capacity for me.
I was all ready by 2:30am EST with my 2 macbooks auto refreshing apple.com and att.com but ended up succeeding with the iPhone app. While the apple store at apple.com still said we'll be back and att.com completely died, the app performed true to form and I had my confirmation by around 3:15am. Status now says preparing for shipment, woohoo

Kudos to Discover-I didn't know about ShopDiscover until I read a post after I placed my order, even though I talked to a Discover rep just a few hours before ordering my iPhone 5. I called Discover and although they said the 5% cash back really comes from the vendor, so in this case Apple, Discover credited it back to my account. That's great customer service.

i already got my apple care email actually but my order still says processing so im thinking soon its gonna change, i wish just once i could be one of the lucky ones and get my order a day or two early this is like my 4th preorder with them and not once has the product came before release date.
Just checked and mine still says "order is being processed" Delivery 9/21 , Ordered 3:15 ET

Since I work at Frys Electronics at the cellphone department. I do know how bad the systems are for Verizon and AT&T could be that it's taking a while to register the bulk of devices at the factory. Like 16gb a good amount of people get. 64gb a lot less people get. 32gb is the majority though in my opinion so it's taking a while to register all the 32gbs on Verizon

I just got off the phone with customer service. They told me no one who ordered online or over the phone will be getting their phones on the 21st. Because of the overwhelming demand the first run of the phones is being sent to apple stores only. The 2nd nad 3rd runs will fulfill phone and online orders.
I only called because my delivery status was bumped from 9/21 to 10/5 after ordering at 3:40 EST. i asked her why people had statuses that said preparing for shipment ad she reiterated that no one who ordered online or over the phone will be receiving a launch day phone. Apple stores only will be getting launch day stock.
Not sure to take it as a grain of salt but thought if put it out there

Ordered mine from apple store app on my iPhone at about 2:15 central time. This morning it says preparing for shipment 9/21. 
I also received an email this morning that says they noticed I didn't have the opportunity to get the AppleCare+...I wanted it, but in the app, thru express checkout, it never gave me the option. I just have to reply to the email and they'll add it.

If they do that I'm never preordering from them again. The whole point of preordering for the launch date is to get it on the launch date.
My 2x 16gb's prepared for shipment - ordered at 8AM UK time (the moment the site went live for preorders). White & black.

Weird, mine just says "delivers 9/21" the "via standard shipping" disappeared. Received the Apple Care email early this morning, still processing items.
Holiday Shipping is a Good Thing!
It means that Apple changed your "Standard Free Delivery" to 2-3 business day shipping just like they due or "Christmas" aka Holiday Shipping.
