Hey fellas,
My order status just updated to "Preparing for Shipment." Any idea when I might be receiving it (based in the midwest)? The order status page is showing a target of Oct 5, but I've heard that Apple underpromises and overdelivers with shipment dates.

Wow... After reading this thread all week, and having 20 pages to read through after 8 hours of sleep, it seems eerily quiet in here.
I learned last year that my neighborhood is the last one on the UPS route. For the iPhone 4S, the driver came around 8pm and said he had delivered over 70 phones that day and mine was the last. I still have yet to get a phone today.
I can't lie I've been drinkin. I had a big shelf exam today, I just hope the big brown truck shows up before I pass out.

We here in hawaii it is still 315 so there is plenty of time before 8. I just hope they show up before I go dinner.
I'm growing tired of people saying they're going to wait for the "iPhone 5" vs. grabbing an iPhone 4S.

Logic would suggest that the next iPhone WILL NOT be called the iPhone 5. Maybe iPhone 4G, maybe iPhone 6 or perhaps full circle and just call it simply iPhone again.

I don't get on these forums often, usually only when a new device is coming out. So I was looking at my previous posts and found a thread by this guy. A little psychotic if you ask me. I wonder how he feels now?
So I just got my iPhone 5. Have it all up and running smoothly. I love it! Anyway, it shows that I have 7 apps that I need to update on the App Store. I click the update button. Tells me to type in my password. I do. And then nothing happens?? Why aren't my apps updating?? I tried like at least 5 times already and it's not working

I made a $5 bet with a bitch in my class (I'm a junior in high school) that it wouldn't be called the iPhone 5. Apple went against all logic with naming this phone. I made this bet back in March(ish).
I dunno, we updated about 20 a few hours ago and it was slower than usual but all updates succeeded. Perhaps now that everyone has played with the phone for awhile they are trying to update their aps and the server is slow.
So did you open the app store app and it listed the apps needing updating, and you selected update all? What if you try one by one, perhaps an issue with the first one and the others will update?
I updated all and then did one by one and it didn't work. So I turned off my phone and turned it back on. Then they all started to update. Thanks tho!!

The phone I received does not match the serial number in my support profile. The number it is associated with is not mine. I called the number and the person on the other end has the phone that my number is associated with. Unbelievable. Waiting on apple to rectify the problem.
sorry if this has already been posted, too busy to ready over 300 pages (yes, I tried search, nothing)...
my iPhone 5 black 16GB AT&T arrived today (yay!), (pre-ordered on apple.com)...two things seem to be missing:
1) no sim ejector tool
2) no cleaning cloth
anyone else missing these? or have they stopped including these now?
I also received my Zagg invisishield screen protector...I was sure I ordered a full phone kit, but it's just the front, ugh, now I have nothing to protect it with until I get this squared away...too bad, Zagg was so good to have it arrive same day as my iPhone any suggestions how to keep from getting metal parts scratched?

I didn't even think about those things until now. I was just happy to finally have my phone. No, I didn't get those things either. I'm OK with not having either. I think I lost my sim ejector tool not too long after I got my new iPad and I had bought a micro fiber cloth at the dollar store not too long ago for my iPad and it's worked great. Apple still included the stickers, though.

No SIM ejector tool nor cleaning cloth comes in the box. My local Apple store gave me the SIM tool today. Have fun !!!

I didn't get them either. However I saw on an un-boxing video, in Australia, they did.. Their box is huge... Don't know why there are these differences. What is Apple doing?

I got my phone today, at the same time the Space Shuttle Endeavor flew over my office, piggy back on a NASA 747.
After all the hoopla, I called AT&T to perform some phone number circus tricks.
I bought the phone on my wife's number, but I will use it on my line, and she will get my 4S. They asked, did you activate it yet? My answer is, no.
Then they did some swapping. But when we finally turned on the phone, it had her phone number on it still. The text ready, activate it and if you want to change the number, call AT&T.. So with the CSR's blessing, I activated it. He made some more changes, and called the phone. It worked. By my phone number does not show in, Settings, General, About. He was surprised, but didn't say or comment about it. I could just tell. Anyway he left me with that situation saying all's right in the world.
So has anyone had a hidden surprise with their phone?
I noticed an unadvertised feature.... 16 Apps per folder. No one said anything about that. I had suspected there may be improvement here, but gees, this really helps me out.
All my phones are delivered.
On my package, I had the following label & numbers.
UPS EXPRESS (though that's not what tracking said)
A nice 1cm high number 1 to the right of my tracking number.
Also I had a secondary label: P:RED S:OUT I:RE1 With a bunch of other numbers below.
