Well guys, after a full week of shipping updates, I leave you all with this. It's been real and it's been fun. But it hasn't been real fun. :D haha

----------

So let's try to get to 10,000 posts.

I got my phone today, at the same time the Space Shuttle Endeavor flew over my office, piggy back on a NASA 747.

After all the hoopla, I called AT&T to perform some phone number circus tricks.

I bought the phone on my wife's number, but I will use it on my line, and she will get my 4S. They asked, did you activate it yet? My answer is, no.

Then they did some swapping. But when we finally turned on the phone, it had her phone number on it still. The text ready, activate it and if you want to change the number, call AT&T.. So with the CSR's blessing, I activated it. He made some more changes, and called the phone. It worked. By my phone number does not show in, Settings, General, About. He was surprised, but didn't say or comment about it. I could just tell. Anyway he left me with that situation saying all's right in the world.

So has anyone had a hidden surprise with their phone?

I noticed an unadvertised feature.... 16 Apps per folder. No one said anything about that. I had suspected there may be improvement here, but gees, this really helps me out.

All my phones are delivered.

On my package, I had the following label & numbers.

UPS EXPRESS (though that's not what tracking said)

A nice 1cm high number 1 to the right of my tracking number.

Also I had a secondary label: P:RED S:OUT I:RE1 With a bunch of other numbers below.

I had been wondering about folders holding more apps. Thanks for confirming this.

Just about 9:15 pm over here and still no delivery by UPS. Thinking the odds are slim the UPS driver is still on his way. Any bets on if he still shows and when? As I posted in another thread, Apple should have gone with FedEx.

They have come as late as 10PM... So keep your hopes up.

So I found out why the UK thread has so many posts...

They have so much more to complain about. Their carrier service and customer service sucks donkey balls, T-Mobil being the worst.

hello peoples! i didnt even see this thread lol. so lemme start by saying hello all! gays, feel free to pm me :-D
anywho,
this is my story, i preordered last friday the 14th, but there was an issue with my att account that didnt allow apples website to verify upgrade eligibility. so i preordered my boyfriends phone on apple at around 4am cuzi i just couldnt get thru until that time. damn busy servers. me, was stuck and apparently lucked out. i thought that my boyfriends preorder went thru so easily, he' be getting his today. boy was i wrong. he tells me later that day his order says shipped in two weeks, estimated delivery of oct 2nd.
i felt so bad, so after getting my att acount issue resolved i preorder mine at around 11am on apples site. fast forward to thursday even when i'm headed to his place for dinner. i get an email notification from my bank account stating that apple has charged my card. i'm thinking, why? if its supposed to be delivered oct 5th for me. so i log onto my apple account on the bus, and low and behold the status says preparing for shipment! YAY.
but i preordered at like 11am on the 14th, meanwhile my poor bf's apple account has no change on thurs, still says delivered by oct 2nd. i felt so bad.
forward to friday the 21st, i see that its going to be shipped sometime the 21st! i'm happy my phone will be here soon, but my bf's status is still the same, until 445pm the 21st where now its preparing for shipment! yay! i think both our orders will be on the same flight out of china! i got my tracking info i'm sure he'll get his later today.

are those good speeds? is there good LTE coverage in NYC?

You said Anywho... That's midwestern talk. Nebraska?

In NYC, expect world class service, however population density may slow things down, by shared bandwidth.

I really don't know what LTE looks like in the City, but out West, I have 5 bar 24Mb/s LTE and at home, just 1 - 2Mb/s 4G/3G

I have to have a Micro Cell at home to make things work, otherwise it's just 2 bars, and dropped calls. AT&T gave it to me for free.

iphone 5 not delivered as promised- poor customer service

called apple and complained and the 1st moron i spoke to said "sometimes these errors happen. and we dont have a solution for this. apple miscalculated the demand for this product." when i ripped her a new one she transferred me after a 40 minute wait at 11:30 pm to chris who is calling me back tomorrow to forward my call to sales support and his words of wisdom "we overbooked the deliveries of this product. unfortunately yes you are potentially in the next shipment of deliveries." i of course flipped a lid and let him know that i could have walked a mile at 545 am been 2nd in line at the ardmore apple store and f ' ing bought one on my own and not wasted a whole day waiting for a phone that i got my butt up at 4 am 7 days prior to "pre-order" and wasted the last hour on hold waiting for you to tell me you that your company screwed up, lied and now cant do a thing about it after i waited on hold for 40 minutes. chris's response, " while i understand your displeasure unfortunately there is nothing i can do for you at this time as the office is closed. ill take your name and number and call you tomorrow when i get in at 1pm. what is your serial #." my response," i dont have a serial number!!!!!! i didnt get my friggin phone!!!!!!!!!! if i had an iphone 5 serial # we wouldn't be talking. hello- that's why im calling you!!!!!!"

While your frustration is completely understood, part of civility and humility is to understand that you are not the only customer who got the short end of the stick. Part of the problem, with limited supplies, is that in order to make your situation right, some other person will have to suffer.

The difference between you and the other victim, is that your situation is purely accidental, while to rectify the problem, would require purposeful derailment of someone else. IE: Passing the buck. So when the rep says their's nothing they can do, the real answer is, there is nothing they can morally do to help you while not hurting the next guy.

In good conscience he can't help you. But he really wishes he could. He wants you to be happy and knows this isn't possible. The one thing you can do, is keep calm, and listen to what he's saying. Have compassion for these guys. They are taking calls for problems, just like yours, and for scratched and dented phones too. (I am still looking into this, I don't know how wide spread the problem is.)

I know it sucks, but think of it this way. You did not waste your time. You at least tried. You learned something. There is nothing wrong with being a victim and there is nothing wrong with accidents. ****** Happens. I hope you feel better, after a nights rest.

Life's good, and it will get better, just not today.

lol no i just talk like that. i live in NYC.

My dad and grand parents said/say any who, it just sounds like family.

Am I the only one who is very paranoid having the phone 'naked'? My case is in the mail and I feel real uncomfortable after reading about how easily the black version is getting scratched/scuffed.

Bingo +1

I got white though. I felt this would be a problem with the black units, based on build materials. The black phones are blissful, but atoms thick black over white, just isn't durable, other than anodization being pretty tough to begin with, these are in your hands and pockets. I have acid washed jeans, sometimes sand just appears in the pockets. I have to be careful all the time.

Try the phone in your pocket with keys.. What's going to happen? Aluminum vs brass or nickel.

So as sacrilegious as this may be, once again a case will save your phone for a long time to come.

I am waiting for my ebay ordered bumper case to arrive, any day. It's made for the iPhone 5... Too bad Apple isn't making these.

Good night all.

I am going to bump our phones down the line...

Everyone one gets something new. :D

Holy FFFFFUUUUU...

I ordered a 32g black from :apple:.com at 3:50EST and so I was to recieve my order on Oct 5 ("ships in two weeks") .... This morning I got an email from :apple:.com stating that my order has been shipped!!!!!!! My UPS tracking details that the item (oh glorious item) was shipped at 10:47 PM last night (9/21) and that it will arrive on or before 9/28.

So for those like me, bummed out about being in the second round, have no fear .... we will be living in extacy sooner than expected!

64gb black AT&T
Ordered 9/14 6:30am est

Got shipping/tracking email today at 7:20am st. Eta 9/28

Gl to everyone still waiting for movement on their order

Ordered: 32gb black Verizon full price
Time: 7:30-ish a.m. Launch Day
Status: Changed to "preparing for shipmt" yesterday/Friday 8a.m.
Apple's Shipped email: today/Saturday 6:40 a.m.
UPS Tracking: origin scan China 4:35a.m.

For those using the UPS trick, entering your phone # or part of your order #, be advised that it still shows only that the package is in the system, without details.

Reference to poster above who went ballistic during a call to Apple:
Sometime around the ordering process, I was asked to take a survey. I agreed. In one of the comment boxes, I factually detailed my "profound disappointment in Apple", per the "9/21 delivery date" on the submit-order page, followed by "2 weeks" on the post-order Thank you page, and then "10/5 delivery" on the email confirmation. That was all on Friday. On Tuesday, I received a call from an Apple employee, to discuss the details. I set forth the facts again, politely yet firmly. The gentleman apologized profusely. I made it clear to him that while I understood they were slammed with orders, logically, since the post-order page's delivery date had been changed to "2 weeks," the page inducing the order (submit button) could/should also have been changed. He gave me his direct dial number, asking me to call if I had questions/issues later.

Yesterday, after digesting this and several other threads, I took notes, and screenshots, of posts mentioning the various delivery dates encountered by others, throughout the ordering process. I called the gentleman, left a voicemail, advising generally of this and other threads. He promptly sent me an email, thanking me and requesting the info, which I then forwarded. He called again to say thank you, saying that Apple was determined not to repeat the errors we witnessed this go round. Whether that is truth or fiction can only be determined during the next major launch date.

Bottom-line: Losing your mind with the California guy/gal on the phone is unwise & unfair -- that individual had nothing to do with the ordering process. You can make your point, but in a manner reflecting respect for the Apple agent, as well as self-respect.

Just sayin'.

My original Oct. 5th delivery has just shipped so I think it has been bumped as well.
Sept. 28th delivery.
