Actually, I would like an iPhone with a wider screen. The long, thin profile of the iP5 does exactly thrill me.

Apple? This is a rumor. Maybe the reporter is drunk? Maybe you are under the influence of something for believing it, but Apple hasn't said a peep so I don't see how you can accuse them of being guilty of a crime not yet committed. Do you work for PreCrime? Director Burgess is that you?

My friend, have you ever heard of something called sense of humor? Or sarcasm perhaps? I merely used a famous quote to joke about this situation, but maybe you are a type of person who can't take a joke or even know what sense of humor is.

Don't be so serious ;)

Diversification

What is all this fuzz and talking about apple should not release more than one size? This is becoming a very mature market. And - the natural progression in a mature market is to DIVERSIFY! In mature markets you do NOT afford to have a small array of products. Obviously there are many user scenarios here that should be covered better by Apple.

The interesting part is what should the portfolio be?

Saw today that Samsung is releasing an S4 with a "real camera":

I'm not saying that apple should do this. BUT - they will loose out because the market is flooded by alternatives.

One thing everyone says about large screened android phones selling well thus bigger screens are always wanted, I offer this way to look at things. If you want an android phone that has good processor and decent battery life, you have to get a big one. Me and my girlfriend went to Verizon to look for a phone. I had her look at every single phone in the store. I showed her all of the cool android stuff and windows phone stuff and iPhone stuff. She absolutely hated windows phone, she quite liked android and iPhone. Her problem (that a ton of girls have because, to quote her, "girl pants suck") was that the only well performing android phones were too big. So she went with an iPhone.

tl;dr she choose the iPhone because it worked well and could nicely fit in her stupid small pocketed girl pants pocket

It's the same ratio as the Galaxy S3/4, HTC X/One, etc., 16:9, or ~1.77, 1134x640=1280x720=1920x1080 (give or a take a few pixels :D )

i.e., the display isn't disproportional tall vs. it's width anymore than any other 1.77 ratio phone, however the physical design may be taller because of the top and bottom sections of the case (and potentially make the display look taller, even though it's not).

Don't know what so many people are complaining about, it's not like they are planning to replace the current 4" iPhone. The larger iPhone would be another model to chose from. It's like saying they should only have one size MBP or one size iMac. Personally I would like the choice to go for a 4" or 4.7" model.

Well the larger screen size makes it nicer for web browsing and the like. Also if they make the UI more gesture based then the larger screen size would be very welcome. Otherwise it will just be more rows of icons.

I would've replied to this, but since you don't know how to properly quote, I'm done. I won't do the work for you. Good day to you sir.

Have a nice day too.

PS: That the site choked on the size of your own replay is not my fault.
Next to this you do not have to replay if you don't want to. :D

well after those icons and flat GUI, and how they have changed iOS so profoundly bad, Mavericks name, all can happens now.

Apple never insulted their users in a keynote, Craig just done that. Never show a beta product, just ship it when is ready. Apple is getting behind and this changes will make it even worst.

All hope is lost

Because people just like to complain:rolleyes:

Clearly the point I was referring to, was native cellular voice call capability...

You are probably the only person on here that chose to read my comments this way. It is amusing that you are nit-picking my post, when it was you that made the ridiculous statement, that the S4 is not a phone, which caused my post in the first place.

Regardless of the amount of question marks you use in your post, it will not detract from your ridiculous notion that the S4 is not a phone.

For clarity - S4 is a phone, iPad is not a phone, case closed.

Which stone have you been living under the last 2 years? GO BACK TO SLEEP!

Overhere the largest carrier for normal phones (KPN) has fully switched to IP-telefony, they have left the native phone calls some years ago. I bet you, that cellular phone calls will go that way very soon and will be no different than how Skype works.

I agree. I'm still using a 4. I like the wider - even if its smaller - screen. I suppose if get used to a 5.

Really, a mini with phone capabilities would not be so bad. I use mine as a phone about 3 minutes a day. The rest is forums, texts and such.

What you need to know is that Apple's decisions are NEVER determined by what will sell well. Apple makes the best possible products without regard for what the beancounters and suits decide.

Or, at least, that's what they used to do....

I was going to correct you, then I read your last line. Apple's products are now evolving into items that will be determined by what people want and what will sell well. It's a predictable evolution considering their stock price and the analysts concerns.
