Looks like iOS 26.0.1 is mainly a quick bug-fix update, especially for camera, Wi-Fi/CarPlay, and Calendar search issues. If you’re already on iOS 26, it’s worth updating once it drops to avoid those annoying glitches.

Yeah, I’ve seen others say the same. Seems that post-upgrade indexing isn’t completing for some people. I can’t search my messages from before September on my 15 Pro. I was running the public beta on my M4 iPad Pro and have had no issues on there
On my spouse's phone, Settings search is the same way. Some things are just missing from a search. Even compared to my phone side-by-side (same model), and there are system level options that only show up in search on my phone.

It's not possible, as one of the many factors is the content of your phone. For example, I recall an occasion where one iOS update trawled through my photo collection and assigned pets' names to pictures where it could. It took a number of days before things settled down.

[Edit]
NB, I agree, it would be useful to have in indication of background processing following an update. There's plenty of spare space on Settings > General > Software Update. It might not align with Apple's design philosophy of keeping things out of the way of the user, but I expect most users would appreciate something like this. For a long time, Apple tried to hide the notion of a filing system from users, but they changed that approach eventually.
I do feel like it’s totally scanning my photos for identifiers or something like that. Like many others under messages threads right after I restored my photos tab disappeared. It’s still gone but the links and documents has now magically appeared and i suspect my photos will eventually return in a day or so. It’s just so weird how they have the phone scheduled to do its indexing of things. Why can’t they just have it run overnight when the phone is plugged in overnight and charging instead of random times throughout the day causing the phone to heat up A LOT and drain my battery when I’m going to actually need it?

I do understand it’s for ease of use for the user and it should “just work” and we shouldn’t think about it but I do and so do a lot of others when their phones are cooking in there pockets or hands randomly throughout the day when I’ve never had this happen before. They did have the pop up message in iOS 18 showing that the ongoing device setup and updates are happening but haven’t seen it yet in iOS 26. That was something but man if we could just get a little more insight into knowing stuff was still going on in the background it would be greatly appreciated!

This has been a thing since at least iOS 18.

Not being able to download Apple Intelligence LLM models seems like a benefit as opposed to a bug? Or maybe that’s why Apple Intelligence isn't working - we can’t download it!

Bearing in mind that Liquid Glass is basically useless, what else is there? Virtually nothing other than bugs. That's Tim Spindler's Apple for ya: zero under-the-hood improvements, terrible UI changes, and a plethora of Apple service-pushing features that can only cater to those paying eternal subscriptions to the company.
I love it, it's the best iOS I ever used. Great UI! My iPhone 16e runs super fast and no glitches or bugs so far.

The thing that drives me absolutely mad is the animation of the keyboard in Safari, when it switches from light to dark depending on the background. For instance, if I open the keyboard with a dark background, the keyboard starts as bright then immediately does an animation down from the left corner to switch to dark. Having two modes is one thing, but why the animation?
Because the children that wrote the code never read anything about usability and think that it is progressive, modern and up to date.

Hopefully they will fix the lagging keyboard response and the dark mode too, it looks really bad and incomplete

I wish apple would clarify exactly how long this is going to last?

“Immediately after completing an update, particularly a major release, you might notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance. This is normal, as your device needs time to complete the setup process in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new assets, and updating apps.”

How long is a “temporary impact?” Does this mean like a couple hours? Or does it mean random hearing up doing basically nothing for many days after the update which is what has been happening on my 14 pro. I went as far as to wipe my phone and restore from back up from my Mac and the issue remains. I’ve never had this problem this long after any iOS update up until iOS 26. I just wish there was some more transparency with what the heck is actually going on? We are left in the dark.

Could they at least implement a status bar somewhere in the settings app showing the progress of the “indexing” and an estimate of when it will be complete? Would this be hard to do? It’s really annoying having my phone so hot and stressing me out! Some people on here say “give it a week”. Some day “mine is fine”. I’m really hoping there is some notes in the bug fix noting thermal performance because something weird is definitely going on. Really regretting updating so far. Of course my sons 17pro is nice and cool while my 14 pro is cooking all the time.
They used to have a section under battery health that said "finishing software updates in the background" but in ios 26.0 it doesnt have that section anymore. That section was helpful because it would show up for a week then go away and it let me know it was done processing in the background

Agreed. Apple isn't leave us much choice, since they aren't saying anything about the Wifi/Bluetooth/Carplay issues.

I think we have to assume if 26.0.1 isn't released soon and fix the issues, that either it's a hardware problem or Apple may address the issues with 26.1 someday. Either way, we are better off returning the phone while we can, instead of guessing.
Yea they should scrap ios 26.0.1 and just have it all be fixed in 26.1 once their betas are done. I think theyre in beta 1 of 26.1 but Im sure there will be more betas for 26.1

Where are you seeing UI lag? I have a 16 Pro and haven't noticed any lag or any problems. Is it lag when doing specific things? I'd like to reproduce what you're seeing.
17 pro here.

It’s all over. Safari, Reddit, other apps. Scrolling between home screens with a widget AND coming out of an app and directly scrolling the Home Screen

Okay, I'm not missing it then. I don't have any of that lag. Everything's been perfectly fluid for me.

Maybe this has been answered: can anyone on the 26.1 beta comment in the WiFi bug? Resolved or still there?

Doesn’t look like our lucky day is today. Maybe tomorrow

EDIT: i stand corrected but the wifi bug is mentioned for iPhone 17 and not 16..

I have the beta on my 14. Siri keeps asking me if I know where Sarah Connor is, anyone else experiencing this?

Loving iOS 26 but it is buggy. I used the public beta and submitted a few and they are still there.
(iPhone 15 Pro Max):
  • Lag using Spotlight
  • Lag hitting the send button in messages (have to hit it multiple times to send)
  • Each time an app is updated:
    • if you use a widget on the Home Screen it breaks
    • If you use a widget on the lock screen it disappears
  • Battery (in iPhone15PM and 13P) is terrible
  • Safari seems less compatible with more sites
  • I'd love a dedicated button to take me directly to my tabs in Safari
  • Image Playground keeps opening screens behind the app and only way to reset this behaviour is to restart
  • Cannot access other parts of Activity app when a workout is in progress
  • While I'm pleased to see Preview on iOS devices, that main screen when you close a file is irritating.
  • Apple Music annoys me the most where it's download manager has been unreliable and flaky for years
    • Gets stuck downloading albums
    • If you ask to download, it just sits there, does nothing and then shows the download button again
    • Sometimes downloads in the background but you have to close and reopen the app to see if it has
    • Shocking bad behaviour when working offline, even for tracks I know I have downloaded to my iPhone.
  • Settings have been obfuscated (again) and it took me ages to set the default to off for those damn Live Photos!
  • Sometimes have difficulty swiping up the notification screen. No matter what I do, it takes several attempts then once it's gone, the next time it can work perfectly again
(MacBook M2 Pro): In MacOS 26 it's been fairly solid apart from the Safari app. When scrolling the page just freezes sometimes and I have to wait a second to scroll again

I've got the latest AppleTV and stereo HomePod Pro 2 and am noticing sound changes (louder and quieter) but cannot workout why. Sometimes the spoken word is gone altogether and all I have is background music. if I leave it a while it will come back but then you've lost the context (if your watching something) or I have to rewind/close the program and reopen it to get the sound back

(Watch Ultra - First Edition): Again just lag. Most annoying is the Stand hours. I can be stood up for about 15 minutes sometimes for it to register I have a stand goal. Worked perfectly before the upgrade. Interestingly I've had this problem on all watch versions using an OS that's newer than the version it was released with.

(iPad Pro M4): Love this. Probably the most stable and as much as I griped that it's still not MacOS on there, it is doing a much better job than I thought it would. Still want to be able to use Parallels on there though!

(Vision Pro): I've not noticed anything really with this other than it seems more stable. Loving the widgets I can anchor to a position in the room and when I next use the device they are back. Also loving the Virtual Display for my MacBook Pro. Means I've ditched my extra monitors so less clutter and when I take off the headset, the office is gone. Smart move - even if wearing it for 2+ hours at a time REALLY ages your face!

But by far my biggest gripe with everything is the lack of AI functionality. My business is AI and Automation and I'm sticking around with the Apple ecosystem but it's so frustrating knowing what's possible but not having access to any of it. Apple seriously need to up their game here because it's beginning to get VERY frustrating.
