Has this product even shipped five million units yet?

Apple sold 1.4 Million iPhones total in all of 2007 (so in 6 months). Apple hasn't revealed sales numbers for the Apple Watch yet, but it's estimated that they sold somewhere between 1 and 3 million as of the end of June, after it had been on sale for 3 months.

So the Apple Watch appears to be set to sell somewhere between 2 and 6 million units in the time that it took the iPhone to sell 1.4 million.

What a flop - it's only doing somewhere between 42% and 300% better than the iPhone did.

Product is beautiful, concept is cool, apps are okay... Is the obligatory need of an iPhone what I've heard people don't like.

A girl from my office just won an Apple Watch and guess what, she can't use it because she has an Android phone.

Apple creates giant, beautiful ads for the watch = Apple Watch is failing and they're getting desperate.

But, if Apple had created Watch advertisements were all small and subtle, people would say that they're not putting in the effort/creativity/budget into the advertising and therefore it is a flop.

Can't win can they?

But, on topic, they really are spectacular and beautiful. I do think though that the paintings are overwhelming the Watch, at least in the pictures.

... including "Chromosphere," which displayed the Apple Watch in colored orbs of light, and "Butterflies," featuring a huge kaleidoscope of fluttering butterflies.

... and why would I need an iWatch?

Love my Watch. Since I have had the watch, it has helped me lose weight, encourages me to keep fit, helps me stay in contact with my Family, set up reminders while I am on the go. Today I used it to buy a new laptop for my daughter. Now I am not saying you can't do some of these things with just the iPhone, but the watch makes it a whole lot easier.

still doesnt make me want one.
Maybe not this generation, but look at the first iphone and look at iphone 4 for ex. Things will get better and better from design materials and os perspective
And i think this is the scale of importance for a watch
1 design
2 materials
3 os

Wow! That is an unbelievably beautiful and impressive advertisement! The tiny Apple Watch with the massive backdrop of flora and fauna is a spectacular attention grabber!
Certainly a lot of work and expense for a so-called flop.

This is pretty immaculate and over top in a way that Apple typically doesn't do things...I think it works though.

Wow, I don't remember Apple advertising any other of their products as much as this watch. To me, it shows how half-baked this concept is and they are desperate to meet their sales goals.

Switzerland is definitely not in trouble, Mr. Ive!
Ahem...

And if massive advertising equates to desperation for sales then Samsung must not be selling many Galazy anythings.

The Selfridges window displays are always fabulous. Since April there has been a single Apple Watch window, with just one tiny watch hovering in the centre. It was already very striking. This looks like they have taken that concept up a notch and are displaying across the whole store-front, which sounds amazing!

It's not an watch problem, I just don't see as many people wearing watches anymore. I personally don't want to wear any kind of computing device. That doesn't mean the product is a flop, but it does have a limited market.

The ad is beautiful.

Neat!

I look forward to future generations of Apple Watch. It's not a must-have right now, but this looks like an area to watch (no pun intended.)
I'm not directing this specifically at you but why does everyone always trot out the "it's not a must have" line with the Watch? As if people only buy things that are a "must have". Complete BS. When people spend $5 every morning on their coffee is that a "must have"? When they go out to restaurants and spend $13-$15 a pop on drinks is that a "must have"?

Yes - I MUST have coffee in the morning.
I haven't worn a watch in years and that doesn't make me grumpy like lack of coffee does.
Big difference.

What a flop - it's only doing somewhere between 42% and 300% better than the iPhone did.

The iPhone was a flop until it's 2nd year, with that year's addition of 3G hardware plus an App store with native apps. A massive price reduction was needed to inventory from gathering dust after the first few weeks. That's why a lot of potential smartwatch buyers might be waiting until the anticipated eventual 2nd generation Watch hardware, or at least WatchOS 2.0 with native apps.

No. Must haves are things like food, water and shelter. Coffee is not a must have. I love chocolate. I eat it almost every day. But I wouldn't die if I didn't have it.
