It would be more useful to be able to delete purchases permanently from the purchase history. Like apps that you downloaded to try them and they were rubbish, songs that someone downloaded when they were twelve and now don't want anybody to know about, and so on.

And then, you lose your iThing, and you can't restore the sales. You have a copy on iCloud, you know?

then don't listen to it. It may have been added to your library, but that doesn't mean you have to listen to it.

That is not the point. People have their own personal music libraries. If they don't want to see that album there, they shouldn't be forced to see it. It was a silly move by apple. Just give a link to a free download through iTunes. Shoving it in everyones library was just so nonsensical.

I'm 40 and can safely say that the millennials are the worst generation in the history of the USA. Complaining about free music. Complaining about one of the greatest rock bands in the history of music. Just absolutely amazing.

Seriously, if you don't like U2, then there is something wrong with you. This probably explains why you (a millennial) have made so many bad mistakes in life, like being in debt so much. Maybe if you spent less time complaining about getting free music and more time learning some useful skills, then you wouldn't need to sell your organs to pay the rent.

Don't be such a pompous idiot.

"If you don't like U2 then there is something wrong with you", seriously?

I'm almost 36, and I can't stand them, but that's MY musical preference. I listen to rock/metal which isn't everyone's taste, but if Apple had chosen to force a Metallica, Disturbed, AC/DC etc album onto everyone's iTunes I'd still call it a dick move.

There is no one type fits all mentality for music.

I don't understand how Apple could have thought this was going to work?

A lot of people didn't understand that it hadn't been downloaded to their device but equally how did Apple think that U2 was a universally liked sound?

Maybe Tim thought, hey, it worked for Steve, maybe it'll work for me almost twenty years later? It was foolish, but it's not a big deal.

The only people who have a legitimate complaint IMO are the shareholders. What a waste of $100 million. Whoever thought that this was a good idea clearly is out of touch and should be fired.

Someone put a slice of cake on my table. I didnt ask for it. Now, my options are to eat the cake or throw the cake in the bin. Why should I have to throw the cake in the bin? I didn't put it there? Whoever put it there should put it in the bin and not insult me by putting it there in the first place.

No-one likes cake.

To all those out there who feel that this junk album forced deep down all of our unwilling throats is some kind of a generous "gesture or gift" are completely out of your minds, seriously! Ever heard of invasive advertisement tactics? If Tim and Bono were really so generous, they should give out 25 + million grants of 30, 000 + dollars to independent artists who create original works every day! Make those grants available weekly and then buy those albums, and give those away for free as promoting hardworking independent artists!!!

Showing props where they ought to be!

LOVE you all so much!

Bahhahahah I know you. You must be one of those people who get all bent out of shape on instagram when people post things they spend with their money. Usually posting why don't you feed the poor or do X instead. I love how you are dictating how they should give and what they should give. Ridiculous. A gift is a gift only a self serving, myopic ignorant individual would be so negative otherwise. Just delete it geez.

I think there might be a few out here that don't like cake.

an important trait for hipsters to broadcast is their freedom of will and that only they are in control of their destiny. it is also good to bash things everyone else is familiar with as something not good enough. gives them their unique character and you know it is attractive to carry the unpopular opinion

The album is so terrible it should be considered malware.

LOL... the album is ok, is like fun elevator music, it is good to have it playing in the background while you are doing something else and not paying attention to it.

I never actually got the album and I want it. Nothing in my iTunes library.

Apple does not like you, I have got my copy, Apple likes me

I don't listen to U2, actually I don't listen to rock music period!!!, I don't want crap that takes up the already little 16 gb of space.

would you want a bunch of dildos sent to your house all the time?

Which service have you subscribed to? YES is the answer, one can never have enough.

If you don't like U2's music, then there is something wrong with you.

NEWSFLASH : NOT EVERYONE LIKES U2 !!!

And to think that "there is something wrong with people" that don't like U2 is a very pompous and ridiculous thing to say.

Millions LOVE the Beatles and I completely understand why they are so popular. Guess what? I'm not a fan of the Beatles. I don't hate the Beatles, and there's nothing wrong with me. It's no big deal. I feel the exact same why about Bruce Springsteen.

I'm a big fan of SEAL, NIN, Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears. Do I expect EVERYONE to like these bands? No, of course not. And it wouldn't ever occur to me that "there is something wrong with people" if they didn't like or support the bands that I really am into.

Next time, put a little bit of thought before you post such ridiculous and foolish statements like the this one.

Would you throw a hissy fit if the Beatles were added to your list of purchases for free?

Who actually thought that was a good idea? The people who act like others are ungrateful because they don't want the damn album are probably the ones who actually like that type of music. All of these people would probably get mad if a crappy chief keef album was added to their itunes account without their permission. I know it's crazy... but not everyone likes U2 or listens to that type of music.

U2 is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and an argument could be made that they are indeed the greatest.

If you don't like U2's music, then there is something wrong with you. This is what happens when an entire generation of kids grows up on Britney spears and Justin Bieber. No wonder the millennials are the worst generation in US history.

Well music is a subjective form of entertainment. People like different things and grew up with different music. You're probably the type of person who thinks you listen to "real" music (whatever that is).

Why get mad? It should be irrelevant if you don't like this music. Ignore it and the 'problem' goes away on October 13th. If it happened to download automatically, what exactly have you lost? If Kim Kardashian had the same deal with Apple, people would find it hilarious and probably make her the fastest selling artist of all time. Get mad? Relax, enjoy the music or do some yoga.

Im confident this has nothing to do with who does and does not like U2. Its about whiney little bitches that can't accept a good thing at face value and instead find everything on earth to complain about. If i was apple and i got a reaction like this from something I gave away free i would max out your phones memory with dumb cat videos and anything else I damn well pleased just to spite you. Jesus. A bunch of ungrateful ppl is all this is about. If you think apple "imposed on your rights" then you should go talk to your representative. other wise just shut it. I'm sick of this and i feel for apple having to waste some poor guys/girls time coming up with a useless 'tool' so you can have you whiney way.

Imagine if santa clause had to do this **** every Christmas.

O

Funny... I didn't even know this was going on. I looked in my iTunes and it's there in the cloud waiting for me to DL it. Not sure why people are getting their panties in a bunch but I guess I'd whine if it "automatically" downloaded onto my phone.

This thread is living proof that there will never be world peace. In other news, Apple says that 33 million people have listened to the U2 album. Factor that in.

afdoc, why would you whine at that? If someones mail got pu tin your mailbox what would you do? Keep it and pout for a week that it got put in your box or would you "delete" it by just sending it back to your post office?

O

I guess I just don't understand what the big fuss is. So you don't like U2 then don't listen to the tracks. I have feel Apple thought they were doing something nice but in the end bunch of whiny folks are making it sound like its the worst thing Apple has ever done.

I just don't get it.
