D-List Celeb Endorsements are NOT innovative

What's next Kathy Griffin, Silverchair, and Johnathan Taylor Thomas spots?

I think Chuck Norris would be good.
I hear, he can do anything including singing, rapping , blues and whatever is needed.

Never got to fight Ali, but would probably have beaten him up too.

Now there is a commercial! Special effects and all should make that possible.

This is...beyond terrible. Is there such thing as objectively terrible when referring to things like this? I mean...it just seems trashy, lazy, stupid, not well thought out at all and an insult to the viewer.

I can't believe I'm becoming one of those people that make statements like this, but remember when Apple used to be artful and visionary and were about the big had advertisements with meaning that could win awards for how well they're done. The past year Apple has come out with ads that if you didn't see the Apple logo at the end, you could easily mistake it for a Samsung ad or any other generic crap.

I know it'll seem like an overreaction to other people, but to me...this ad just made me sad (hey that rhymes!) every new ad that comes out lately just impresses me less and less. And I don't mean that to come out like I'm just at home being all stuck up sitting in my chair like "come on Apple. Impress me!" Like I'm some grouchy movie critic, I'm just...I don't know. I can see the culture of the company changing to be more generic and like everyone else. It's like that feeling when you're marry your hot girlfriend and she stops caring bout herself and gains 100 lbs in the first year.

Relentless complaining does seem to be the order of the day at the moment. I sometimes think Apple could release a fully autonomous artificially intelligent robot personal assistant and the only thing people would do is to complain about the colour.

And that AI would log on, and complain about that commercial too.

I would argue the Samsung commercials have more identity, and personality, than either of these. That first one is just odd and lazy. I didn't bother with the other one. I'll just remember ray for goodfellas and let it go haha.

Whatever, guys. I know this is the place for relentless complaining, but I really like the Ray Liotta one.
Me too, it was hilarious!

In this thread: People who don't realize Apple, like any smart company, makes marketing that appeals to different audiences and demographics. Here's a crazy idea, maybe the ads aren't targeting you! Shocking, I know.

coincidence?

The Ray Liotta one didn't bother me. The Naomi Campbell one was atrocious, though. So disappointing to see Apple actually allow that one to even be seen by the public.

I loved the Goodfellas reference....did you catch that?

Why bother complaining about what Apple "could" do? There's plenty to legitimately complain about with what Apple actually "is" doing.

What are these?! Am I just so out of touch, or is Apple? Who lives like that, drives that, talks like that, dresses like that, or needs Apple music explained again? Am I missing something?

Of course he did. But it seems like every Apple ad these days features celebrities. Using them sparingly is fine; using them in every ad is overkill.

Ever thought that these celebrities actually use Apple products and want to do ads for them? Heck Hollywood uses Apple products so much that I sometimes start to think movies and tv shows are just one big Apple commercial

Instead of working on correcting the Apple Music app, Tim keeps traveling and spending money in marketing, marketing, marketing. By the way this is the worst spot Apple has ever released. I though it was an ad for a app on booking manicures or nail polish. Disgusting

It's not just that it's not appealing. But it feels like it's cheapening the brand. Is this really how Apple wants to be seen?

"Marketing is about values" – Steve Jobs

And the view that this somehow cheapens the brand is your perception. To me it is not. And I am not even a fan on the DJ in this ad. You however are still seeing Apple only from your point of view. Not every Apple fan is like you. Just because their taste are different doesn't make them "less"

I guess nobody in editing noticed she double-tapped before DJ Kaled delivered his brilliant line "Baby you is amazing" (at about the 0:45 mark). I've never known Apple to allow their products to be advertised by showing them operated in an incorrect manner. Weird.

I was happier when Apple featured indie music in their various keynotes, ads, and presentations.

No, the color is clear: Rose Gold.

Problem is that Apple takes its sweet time to release whenever they think it's ready.

BUT, they have not released anything with a WOW factor and from the looks of it they won't
for some time to come.

These days, the second somebody has an idea, SAMSUNG or GOOGLE will throw something onto the market, half baked or not.

Apple Watch, iCar, Apple TV as a game console (Fell asleep at the switch there , HOBBY my a$$)

MBPs, iPhone, iPads and watches are all matured and a given short of some spec updates (even those take too long).

The what have you done for me lately crowd is disappointed.

As an old fart, I no longer focus on music as being important. I do understand it's part of the young generation. So, that is where Apple has to go.

With Liotta and Campbell they are trying to keep the door open for older folks.

As an Apple customer since 1984, I have also been more negative lately, because it seems they have abandoned their base products and MBP updates are afterthoughts.
The mini might as well be officially be discontinued if they don't believe in it any more or at least combine it with the Apple TV.

The Pro people are crying and if they are smart, they should have already looked for alternatives. The Pro will end like the servers they used to sell , i.e. discontinued.

Analyzing Apple services doesn't show a pretty picture either. No equivalent to dropbox. Storage prices too high. Apple Music , not on par with Spotify offerings.
Beats .... beats me. Can't do anything with that and so on.

All my Apple stuff is working really well, occasional upgrade hick ups expected, but they don't have anything that's a MUST HAVE at the moment.

Unbelievable. I absolutely agreed with every point in your comment. I have the exact same feelings about Apple. I almost feel that this is should be published in the NYT as the official manifesto of long time apple users who are discontent with their products. Your essay was well toned and without extremism. Thank you for voicing our concerns. How can we send this to Mr. Cook and his team? ON a side note, what are the options for MBP? I had me curious.

I guess if you like him that much, you should learn how to spell his name...

There's a pudding stain on her back... what the fuc.. is that... I think it's doo doo

Let's see how many will figure this one out.

Oh and the ad.. wtf.. Either I stopped drinking the koolaid, or I don't get it. And there is no way Siri understood him with his slur and spitting.

Ugh.

Such repulsive ads. They show what Apple has become under Tim Cook: vacuous, inane nonsense that is a slave to fashion.

Steve Jobs, no-one is a bigger fan of you than me, but you made a mistake in appointing Cook as CEO.

You really think it's Tim Cook? I kind of feel that's what happens when a company flies high for too long.
