Not gonna lie, the speakers on the iPhone 7 are amazing... I turned it all the way up and started playing music and it woke the baby in the next room. GREAT sound and no more of that silly cupping the bottom of the iPhone to attempt to focus the sound towards you.
It's improved but I expect louder for iPhone 8

You know what else is magic? Not being able to plug your new iPhone 7 into your new MacBook Pro without a dongle.

I think the word you're looking for is courage.

The courage to force consumers to use dongles.

The courage to tell consumers to take their phone to the pool & let it get water damaged, but not back your product with a warranty.

The courage to increase prices constantly.

Love that elderly gentlemans style though ✌️

And regarding the warranty I don't get it. Tests on YouTube show it to be pretty good under water
Yeah I trust the water resistance a good amount after seeing some videos featuring ****er tests and such. I mean I'm not going to purposefully drop my phone in the water but I will take my phone on water rides in amusement parks now for example. Still in my pocket like a usual attraction but yeah. If I need to use my phone and it's pouring rain, I will use my phone then as well. I'm going to get Apple Care soon anyway so I won't have to worry.
I am a little worried if the best innovation of the iPhone 7 that is worth promoting is... water resistance - something the $20 Casio watch I had back in the 1990's delivered flawlessly.
Okay, water proofing an advanced smartphone with tons and tons of openings, while trying to maintain certain cosmetic standards is much much more of a challenge engineering wise compared to a basic watch from 20 years ago.
A $20 watch doesn't have ports or holes where water can enter, such as the lightning port, speakers and sim tray
Exactly. Water proofing these smartphones is far more of an engineering feat.

I sure hope Apple didn't record this ad on an iPhone ;)

Because you can't pause while video recording (!) and the audio you get while recording is in mono (!)

Long time lurker, first time poster.

was it interesting that the music app shown in the commercial had a landscape mode?

**edit: just rewatched. saw it was the Notification Center. bummer.

Decent ad, but it kinda makes the iPhone's target market look like a bunch of rich old has-beens who want to show off to younger generations. I guess taken in context with their other ads that usually feature young folk, it's alright.

Because an ad isn't full of youthful Millenials you think Apple's target market is old people and not you? You must be a Millenial... ;)

If you make it long enough, one day YOU will be a "has-been".

you're an old rich bastard getting a new iphone will impress the young ladies.

this is like the opposite of think different and really suits apple well.

Same in the Samsung world. However water resistant means just that.
Exactly, Samsung doesn't cover water damage at all either, I think this commercial is better then Lil Wayne pouring champagne on a Galaxy S7 lol..

It's a okay commercial, nothing more or less... could of probably came up with a better idea lol

This is funny. Apple don't even cover liquid damage under warranty.
Which means if your new iPhone 7 came defective and water resistance ability was compromised, Apple warranty doesn't cover your defective water resistance phone.

Can anybody actually replicate this with an iPhone 7/7+? I have a hard time believing that there's actually enough bass coming out of those speakers (even if they are stereo and practically magic) to jostle a small puddle of water. Edit: (never mind, the fine print at the end of the commercial says "Music Dramatized". I think that probably means that the phone can't cause a small earthquake in its immediate vicinity).

I'm surprised Apple's legal counsel signed off on this commercial. While the guy clearly wasn't diving into the pool with his phone, most average people are going to see this commercial and just assume that the phone has no problem getting wet, period. Most people don't tend to read the small print of the warranty which says explicitly that water damage isn't covered. (Edit: Ahhh, yes, the fine print at the end of the commercial mentions the fact that liquid damage isn't covered under warranty. While most people probably won't notice that fine print, it does tend to negate the content of the commercial, in my opinion.)

Ugh. Apple Ads suck these days. They never used to show off features, but just talked about WHY the company exists, WHY they're cool. Touting features is just telling us WHAT we are buying, and with the internet etc WE ALREADY KNOW THAT. It's not cool, uninspiring, and the same stupid tripe everyone else does.
