Haven't you been reading the recent articles? The apple tv should be in the next round of announcements.
The issue is when those next rounds of announcements will actually be…

I can’t speak for everyone but I’ve been holding off on getting another ATV for quite some time now in light of this “supposed” new model announcement and yet here we are still none the wiser…

Why? What specific problems are there with the current M4 memory that you have?
Currently? Maybe no reason. But more RAM just makes it a longer lasting investment with better performance when having several apps running. My main professional uses for my ipad pro are Procreate, Nomad Sculpt, and now that i am upgrading was planning on using Final Cut more and getting away from Premier Rush. All apps that can use a fair amount of RAM.

Also, i currently have a 2020 pro so this will be a decent upgrade for me.

i am now on the lookout for a discount m4 version. that oled screen is tempting
Same. I’m on a A12Z version and have been looking to upgrade.

I do want the 1TB version of the M4 for the 16GB of RAM, but I do think 12GB would probably be fine now as well. So now the question is - clearance M4 1TB or new M5 256GB?

As an M4 iPad Pro user, i don’t understand this update. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the M4 and they’ve spent money on an M5 for no real world advantage(s). Spend the money on releasing an iPad with 50% more battery, that’s what will grab people’s attention, not M5 fluff, which doesn’t mean that much to the average user.

I guess the main draw here is that the base model now comes with 12gb ram. Otherwise, I am not sure what to make of it. I definitely won't be upgrading from my M4 iPad, and I suppose it will make for a decent upgrade for users still on M1 or older iPads? To those to stuck with their 2018 iPad pros, now is as good a time as any. :)
Nah, my M1 Pro is still spiffy and doesn’t need an upgrade anytime soon. It’s still stupidly overpowered!

Maybe the new C1X chip will allow for better battery life on cellular models. Just got the M4 version 3 months back and not going to upgrade to the new one. Happy to see same price. Looks like it has only a single front facing camera. Faster charging is very welcome.

Apple press release in my country's website shows the price and states that the new 40W charger is available. However it is still not available to purchase on the website.

I am still on a 11" 2018 A12X... The battery is no longer lasting a day with light use so it is time. I would consider a NOS M4 just for the screen alone but I am not paying the Apple Tax for a 1TB+ to get 16GB RAM so the 12GB base RAM with the new M5 IPP is worth it to me over a discounted base M4 version, unless I could get a really good discount.

For me its not just a better CPU, but more RAM, 256GB vs 64GB storage (just comparing base models), OLED screen, and a new 100% health battery with much better effective SoT battery life vs LCD-based iPads. I would totally consider a M2/M3 Air but the real-world SoT battery life in those are not as good as the M4/M5 OLED IPP.

I would love them to just go back to the thickness of my 2020 pro and use that space for more battery.

Can this new iPad mirror the MacBook and function as if it were the MacBook? Suddenly, you'd have a touch-enabled Mac. The Tab is on the right,

Love the tandem OLED on my M4 iPad Pro but whenever Apple has an image showing the iPad with the rest of the product lines, the iPad bezels look ridiculous in 2025. Guessing the M6 iPad Pro in 18 months will have a redesign purely in the form of reduced bezels finally (I know people say the huge bezel is needed for holding it, but they should be able to handle that with software, like they do for palm rejection, and I use it exclusively in laptop mode with the new Magic Keyboard which has been awesome since adopting aluminum). There isn’t much more they can do on these – it’s as close to a slab of glass with perfect display and blazing performance as they can get. There is less reason to spring for the 1TB now with the RAM bump on the lower capacities. 24GB on the 1-2TB models would have been nice. Compare tool showing no increase in battery life from more efficient SoC, next model will be based on 2nm. Only other things I can think of for next model are C2X modem, maybe higher peak outdoor brightness like the new phones, and silicon carbide battery by then hopefully. I will try to skip the upgrade this go around, even though I sometimes wish I went for the extra processor core and more RAM (but I hear it doesn’t help with my apps constantly refreshing so what’s the point).

You’ve answered your own question, friend. On the iPad the Bezels serve a very real purpose, giving you something to grip. I use mine primarily as a laptop as well but there are still times you need to grab it. Reduced bezels might work on the Mini but they’d be useless on the 13” models

Wait to see benchmarks. If the 3 performance core M5 has the same multicore score of the 4 performance core M4 found on the 1TB model, I’d go M5 256, especially if the 256 config is confirmed to also feature the 2x faster storage advertised on this update.

All these new Pro machines but where is the flex? This would have been the perfect time to finally announce a release date for the elusive iPad version of No Man’s Sky or whatever the Pixelmator team have been cooking up.
