lol @ 1:04 holding iPad n air to take picture..

Reminds me of all those people at concerts... You a phone you fool.

Apple, nice Ad. Now fix the iPad remote App so that the keyboard doesn't disappear after using it with the Apple TV. Thanks.

Ooh.... are we playing a game of lets bring up the MOST off-topic subjects possible??????!

Sounds fun. My turn...

I like peanut butter. Can you swim?

If that were a real degree then you'd have no excuse. Sorry, but this is a very good ad. If you're going to argue bias you need to actually find an example of bias, right? Since, this isn't a case of Apple lovers loving a bad ad, maybe you could link us to a good MS ad where most MR comments are negative? I'll hold my breath for that.

You missed the point completely. He said that if that ad was done Microsoft , people would be in arms complaining how crap the surface is etc etc. And that is the way we roll on MR, if you honestly believe there is no bias here on MR, the word bias does not mean what you think it does.

And in no way was he having a go at this ad, it's a damn good ad. A very very good ad, if you replace iPad with surface, people on here would pay it out.

----------

Cause when I put on a pair of overpriced, no-longer trendy denim jeans with the hope of a button fly retro feel, I'm thinking of poetry and making my impact on the world [by writing my own verse].

But when you pick up an IPad....

I noticed that for sports training/iPad combo like sumo stance in this ad and golf swing in an another ad? there is always someone drawing on the body for improving human alignment etc. Is there a specific sports app for this or just using a simple drawing app?

Wow, this quote is like seeing this scene play out in real life. Considering the tribute to Woody Allen at tonight's Golden Globes, thanks for the life-imitating-art laugh Rafterman!

Nope, I go by the history of forums like these. Personally, I prefer and own mostly Apple tech, but that doesn't mean I drink the Apple koolaid. The bias of the typical Apple fan is hilarious. Insult an Apple product and they act like you just insulted their mother.

By the way, I have a B.A. in Media Study, with concentrations in film and video production. So my "imagination" is perfectly fine.

Yeah, but the problem is Samsung and Microsoft are to busy trying to slam Apple product instead of telling us why their products are good. In one word: They are crap on making adds and you know it ;)

this is easy, their adds suck because of this:

The leader is assailed because he is a leader, and the effort to equal him is merely added proof of that leadership. Failing to equal or to excel, the follower seeks to depreciate and to destroy — but only confirms once more the superiority of that which he strives to supplant. There is nothing new in this. It is as old as the world and as old as human passions — envy, fear, greed, ambition, and the desire to surpass. And it all avails nothing. If the leader truly leads, he remains — the leader.

They attack the real leader, because they suck:D

I can see why people might think the ad is a little too much, but I love it! Sure beats those Surface ads. Any of them!

Unbelievably pretentious.

There is nothing pretentious in the ad. It's all real use cases and real users.

Other vendors pretend to be Apple by mimicking their style. That's pretentious.

Some try to cherry-pick features to compare with iPad. As if iPad doesn't have more salient points and apps than the competition. That's pretentious.

Some try to dream up fictitious use cases to paint some sort of ideal world imaginary. That's pretentious.

This ad looks like a collection of real world apps used by actual users. Nothing wrong with that.

Moving stuff, but would be just as moving if the iPad, or any other product wasn't included. It could just as well be an advert for underpants. Which have, after all, been taken to the bottom of the sea, to the top of Everest, and to the moon.

Two words succinctly summarise Apple' s attempt at pretending the iPad is "all sophisticated, like wot those clever people is"

- Pretentious? Moi? -

Now that's the end of the matter. No more of this arty farty palaver.
Let's get back to the 'left-handed website' browsing, shall we?

Good. Sorted. Fine. Done. ;)

I love the ad. I am not sure how effective it is but when the Ipad logo came out at the end it was a complete surprise to me.

As a filmmaker, I'm going to have to agree with him. A DSLR with a good zoom lens is an appropriate tool for that situation. Even a gopro would be better quality than an iPad, or a blackmagic pocket camera.

If they had shown the iPad being used as a wireless monitor for another camera or to control a gopro, that would be realistic, but the rig using the iPad as the camera made me laugh.

The Best photographers in the world can take the same shot with any camera! You should know that. If there is an extra lens on the end of it and I will make it all the better. It's all about the glass

Unbelievably pretentious.
Explain??please

This idiot darrell-etherington from tech crunch takes a stab at apple. He's getting a lot of heat for calling Walt Whitman poem terrible.

"What will your verse be?” is the tagline for the ad, and the idea is that each person gets to contribute one verse to the overall poem of human experience (which is a terrible poem by the way).

"They would never mention a competitor now... Not one single good marketer would. Marketing 101 would agree." - crackbookpro

There was no confusion unless I misinterpreted the above quote from you.

My response stated Marketing 101 wouldn't say anything about "Don't mention your competitor." Marketers make direct comparisons all the time. I used marketing in the car industry as an example of competitors being mentioned in ads. Ford says their better than Chevy and Dodge, Nissan's better than Toyota and Honda, etc.

As for the analogy, you were completely right, it wasn't close. That's because it wasn't an analogy. Analogies are comparisons, what I gave was an example.:D

If I did misinterpret the quote above, sincerest apologies.

You are confusing yourself(again). Taking words out of context, and using them to how you see fit. Remind you, being a scholar of grammar only will work in the classroom, not on forums, unless you are indeed a scholar - and, btw, you used 'their' when it should be 'they're'. *Ford says they're better...*

To guide you... Apple started a Tablet Market in 2010, and I responded to a previous post/quote about Apple not mentioning their competitor at the time(like Microsoft mentions the iPad in their adverts these days in the tablet market), and you on your own make silly comments and respond and make an analogy of a car industry.

Excuse me, not an analogy, an example... (lol)

After all this... I related more to the initial post I quoted by mentioning that Apple only played 'dirty' marketing per se with an anti-competition campaign in a market like PC vs Mac in the 2000's. You relate how? By speaking of the car industry... The freakin' car industry. (lol'n)

You Sir or Maddam, didn't relate, didn't show insight on the OP, and more than anything, didn't come close to understanding my post, and are now confused once again... Because you confused yourself.

My guess... After all this, you are evermore confused about Marketing 101, and even now English 101.

People on MR have short memories. Apple spent years attacking Windows with the Mac vs. PC campaign.

Hahaha. That's the funniest thing I've read today.

Explain??please

No they can't. That's why the best photographers use high end SLRs with massive lenses on them. The iPad is not a good photo taking device in most situations. Let's be realistic here. The ad is fine and feels very Apple ish but camera capability is NOT something Apple should be highlighting.

Wow! All the things you can do on iPad... that nobody does.

And then you go back to your fart app like Netflix or Instagram

Really?

Nice ad, love the new voiceover too. Very powerful.

HOWEVER

The advertisement states: "Medicine, law, business, engineering these are noble pursuits, necessary to sustain life". But it suggests these are not passions, whereby the real passions are poetry, romance and creativity. Apple's own job descriptions ask for people who have passion in engineering/business, but they're suggesting in this advertisement that medicine, law, business and engineering are just necessities, they are not passions.

Call me a skeptic, but this ad is a little hypocritical.

But hey, all the Apple fanboys love it, so :apple:

I honestly don't know how anyone could dislike that.

It's not always best to be the best... Sometimes hater's hate.

And, like some say, "haters" dont really hate you, they hate themselves.

Back to the advert - I personally think it's Apple boldest and most brilliant ad since their SuperBowl ad in 1984... Pretty sweet for the Apple Team this time around the ad debuts during the 49ers playoff game. Wonder if any meticulous planning was involved???

Find it kind of funny - Sure there are some niners fans at Apple HQ that now receive more street cred becuase of the timing of the ad.

The only thing I wish about this ad... Would be to just call it the iPad. Like the original. Not iPad Air at the end of this commercial - even though now, it's called the iPad Air.

Besides that, this ad is revolutionary for Apple. The international crowd will be wow'd more than anything. In 1984, the SuperBowl ad did make it on international broadcasting, so I'm wondering the reach this ad got and/or will get???

This ad could spark some momentum internationally... Think it is one of Apple's Top 5 adverts of all time.
