Bizarre move from apple. From a fairly hippy pacifist founder to discounts for the army, not exactly expected, doubt Jobs would appove at all.

Killer discounts.

You do realize the internet, the microprocessor and several other technologies that you use to make this misguided statement were derived from military R&D projects? Of course, you didn't.

I ordered two phones. I'll decide which one I like better and return the other. This is actually a more palatable price for the XR.

Good grief people, a discount for veterans isn't "pro-war." It is a discount to those who signed up to defend your self-indulgent hipster attitudes. Most soldiers want peace (we don't like being shot at).

If you haven't served, you have no idea how much a veteran has sacrificed for you, even in peacetime.

Yeah, discounts for people who are "brave" enough to join the military.. protecting american people. In Afghanistan.

Exactly. Brave enough to sacrifice their time, energy, blood, sweat, tears, family, and freedom to travel all over the world to fight our enemies, so you can sit in your moms basement, and write stupid crap like that on the internet.

Getting a 10% discount is no different then buying an Apple product from an out of state vendor and not paying sales tax on it. Kind of pointless.

Veterans can mail order from AAFES and NEX tax free so it pays to comparison shop; although the exchanges offer a limited selection of products with small discounts. Maybe Apple will offer the same discount via the exchange so you'd get the doscount and tax free sale.

Not so fast ..... cynical of this generous offer. Didn't Apple propose to digitize Veteran's health records? This is a PR stunt to soften resistance to Apple's offer to the VA.

$899 for iPhone XS and $674 for iPhone XR? Those look closer to what the prices should be before a discount at this point, lol. I don't often put a lot of stock into the claims about Apple sales being down because this is often proven wrong each year, but this kind of looks like a sign that maybe things aren't as insanely great as they're used to. Either way this is a good addition.

There’s always that guy that finds the negative in what could only be construed as a positive.

This is definitely a good thing for US service members.

Even the Education Store (students and teachers) discounts are limited only to Macs and Apple laptops. Education discounts exclude iPhones. I guess Apple hasn't yet figured out that iPhones are commonly used to cheat on midterm exams and SAT tests. :p;)

Parents of college students also
qualify for the educational discount which is a nice perk as well.

I know it's been this way for ages with the educational discount, but I'm still shocked they have no verification process in place at all. Anyone can use this portal for a discount, so I'd expect someone like Apple to have loopholes like that on lockdown.

That said, kudos to them for offering something up.
This is because Apple needs to sell more phones. They don’t care that you will cheat at this point. They want to save face by officially not lowering the price but yet give you the loophole to buy the iPhone at a lower price.
