LOL, these are some of the most stupid ads i've seen yet. "if it's not an iphone, it's not an iphone"...well duh. I could say that about anything/everything...

If it's not a BMW, it's not a BMW.
If it's not a hot dog, it's not a hot dog.
If it's not a turnip, it's not a turnip.
Shall i continue?

Yeah, bad advertisement there Apple.

Haha someone probably said that in the meeting. Than the superior chuckled and said "you're right but most people are too dumb to care, let's roll with it"

I love these ads. Especially the second one. Considering that all other company's have to put out several models in an attempt to keep up with the sales of the iPhone proves that Apple indeed has the single most popular phone in the world. No other one phone can touch it. I know at least a dozen people in my personal sphere that switched from Samsung to the iPhone when Apple started offering bigger screens with the iPhone 6, but none that have done visa versa.

I like the tag line. It is in fact....the simple truth.

Well if Apple would get rid of the bloatware and give us the option to delete it then I wouldn't be part of the 10 % that hate their iPhone since I don't believe the ******** that Apple is spewing about only 1 % not liking their iPhone. Sounds like a politician trying to get elected.

Can anyone tell me what the dinosaur app in the "Hardware & Software" advert is? Thanks!

Apple tonight debuted two brand new iPhone 6 ads that appear to be a part of a new marketing campaign. The ads feature a voice over detailing what makes an iPhone unique compared to other smart phones and smart phone platforms while showing off multiple iPhones doing different things on a white background. Both ads end with a new tagline: "If it's not an iPhone, it's not an iPhone."

The first ad, "Loved", talks about the iPhone's high user satisfaction rate, claiming that 99% of people who have an iPhone love their device. It shows off people messaging, sending emojis, FaceTiming and having a good time on a multitude of iPhones before cutting to the new tagline.

The second ad, "Hardware & Software", explains how Apple is one of the few smart phone manufacturers to design both the hardware and software parts of the device. It goes on to say that this allows the device to function as a whole better than other smartphones can. It shows off games, intensive apps like GarageBand and iPhone-exclusive features like Apple Pay and FaceTime.

The new ads mark the third campaign centered around Apple's flagship device after the Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake ads explaining the differences between the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and Apple's award-winning "Shot on iPhone 6" campaign.

The hardware software is decent, the other is bad. A waste of the tag line..the iPhone 4 Ads were better... Although the tag linesof both are amazing

I don't particularly like that protruding camera but the 6 is an amazing phone, I think it will be very future-proof, similar to the iPad 2.

define Amazing, because a 750P screen, 1GB RAM and 8MP non-optical stabalizing camera in 2015 are obsolete features.

Looks like you fall for Samsung's spec sheets. Personally I couldn't care less for gimmick stuff like 2K screens, ridiculous curved side screens or 4 Gb of RAM on a phone. I do agree, however, that the camera could use a bump. For me, amazing is the build quality, the smooth experience (from the retail store to the OS) and services integration.

When you look at the tagline, it is a bit generic and lame....

But then you realize Apples competitors(Samsung especially) stay trying to ride Apple's coattails with the design and what not, so they are basically saying in a classy way

"If it is not an iPhone, it's a cheap imitation."

Which pairs well with the hardware advert as well saying "If it is not an iPhone...a product we make inside and out...it's a cheap imitation."

I like when companies can be a bit cheeky while still being classy about it.

If its not an iPhone, then it must be an Android...

(no wait,, that's the wrong one..)

Anyway, i don't mind these ad's, Good music..... too.

However, they could have come up with a better tag-line....... I think Apple people are used to the fact that Apple's hardware and software just works together well..

But try and add a third party product to the mix & it topples over like dominoes. :( U can never get that third party hardware working WITH an Apple product 100% can you.

The drought continues.

These ads are not funny, they're not entertaining, nor do they have any content, nor do they explain why you should buy an iPhone. I don't think the man in the street will understand what's so special about hardware and software working together, unless you give an example. None was given in these dreadful ads. The music in the first ad was ugly and indicative of why no-one buys today's music. Finally, I can't stand the voiceover, whose nasal, snarky tones I find irritating in the extreme.

Sorry I can't be more positive.

Agreed. If this were a high school assignment I'd grade it a C. These are like so many other ads that club you over the head with a blunt message. Having seen them once I've no desire to ever see them again.

One of the best Apple ads, by way of contrast, is Photos Every Day. It draws you in. It is beautiful and complex and effortless.

OK I have to admit that I'm in the 1%. Don't get me wrong, my 5C is the best phone I've owned. It does more things better than any other phone I've owned or whatever company I worked for bought me. It's just that the idea of "loving" a phone, seems odd. It's a useful tool but nothing more. I don't love my lawn mower or Prius either. It does what I want and I put it away when I don't need it.

My iPad on the other hand is a fantastic device that I use literally from dawn to dusk. That I'm exceedingly fond of.

Yea your so right! The masses buy on spec! How lame I am and the 130 MILLION others that BOUGHT these "OBSOLETE" specs in these phones! Duh!

P.S. Tack on ANOTHER 50 Million for the last quarter about to report. So now that's about 180-200 MILLION iPhone 6/6+ sold..

Again WOW what a spec failure the iPhone is.. It's such a failure that those "outdated" specs translated into RECORD SALES.

Your right APPLE better rethink its strategy and follow your theory that the mass population buys on specs and specs alone.

EPIC FAIL ;)

How's those super specs doing for Samesong?

Crickets..

The marketing problem I have with BMW is their branding. Im a laymen and I have no idea what their model names mean. You could explain them to me but then that defeating the purpose of proper marketing.

BMW along with most other German auto manufacturers don't really waste time trying to explain their cars models. They like Apple market the experience you will have using their product. Everyone ownes a car, but not everyone owns the ultimate driving machine. Pretty much they are saying no matter which model you choose will give you the same experience.

Spot the easter egg?
CJhEXeOUwAAGFMw.jpg:large

99 iPhones facing the viewer. 1 iPhone faces away.
It's a very clever moment in the ad, but I don't think you can call it an Easter egg when the audience is expected to notice and get it.

Agreed. Those ads did very poorly for Apple too. I don't like these new ads. This revised tag line is somewhat better because the old one would put of people who owned a different smartphone rather than make them want an iPhone. There is an important difference between "if it's not an iPhone, it's not an iPhone" versus "if you don't have an iPhone, you don't have an iPhone".

Still, while this new tag line is less off-putting, they are not very good ads. Nothing memorable about them.

This advertising campaign has been done for several reasons. First, the term "iPhone" is a protected trademark in the most of the western world. However, it is not in parts of Asia, South America and the third world. There are several non-Apple phones sold in those markets with the name "iPhone" that Apple legal cannot touch due to jurisdiction and extradition.

Second, their "hardware and software under the same roof", specifically the roof of Infinite Loop in Cupertino, keeps the development very tight. When I was doing Windows apps back in the day, it was very frustrating seeing bug reports from users running no-name PCs with sub-standard parts, poorly written device drivers and blaming the bug on us when our app crashed on these crap PCs. Run our PC app on a Dell, Compaq, HP or IBM, it's fine. However, cheap-o user wanted to save a grand and expect their no-name PC to run like a brand name machine. Somehow, we were to blame when the app did not run on their cheap PC.

The same thing is happening in the Android world where no-name Android phones are crashing Android apps that run fine on Samsung or other brand Android phones. I know several app developers that gave up on the whole Android platform as they just encounter cheap users that complain a lot and are not willing to pay for anything beyond their monthly cell phone bill.
