Apple today uploaded two new iPhone 6s ads to its YouTube channel, highlighting built-in features including Touch ID and the video taking capabilities of the iPhone 6s, including 4K video capture.

The first video, "Fingerprint," focuses on all of the things that can be done with Touch ID beyond unlocking a device, including opening passcode protected apps, checking into flights, signing documents, making purchases with Apple Pay, and starting cars.

The second video, "Onions," features the 4K video capturing functionality included in the iPhone 6s. In the hyperbolic and humorous video, a child captures her mother cutting onions, which goes viral because of its impressive quality.

Unlike other recent iPhone 6s ads Apple has uploaded, these new videos focus on features and do not feature celebrities, aside from a cameo from Neil Patrick Harris in "Onions." Apple's most recent iPhone 6s spots have covered features like hands-free Hey Siri functionality, the photo taking abilities of the device, and Live Photos.

WOW!! GREAT news!! 4K!! uh.....and WHERE am i suppost to see the 4K recordings? On the Iphone? Oh nooooo, that one doesnt have a 4K screen....On my TV? Oh noooooooo, altough my tv IS 4K the latest Apple tv ISNT 4k!
So why do we need it? We dont!

it starts your car ?

Man, we're getting lazy...... Who thought a finger could do so much.. .... is that someting perhaps the Apple car would do ?

Nice Onions ad. Summarizes well the modern 'art' and the business and hypocrisy surrounding it.

I'm one of those stuck with the 16GB iPhone 6s. So why did I get my first 16GB iPhone since the 3G even though I'm fully aware that the storage is severely outdated for 2016 and unfit for purpose on a device equipped with a 4k camera? The answer is that the 6s is my new work phone (which I can use for personal stuff as well). Previously I've bought my own iPhones, but now that iPhones are available also from work, I got myself one. Unfortunately our purchase limits rule out everything but the base model (or the 64GB SE, which in turn is too small for my use), and due to some accounting and taxation BS I can't just say "make mine a 64GB plus instead, take that extra 200€ from my next salary" no matter how much I'd like to.

So it's somewhat frustrating that the base model comes with severely outdated storage since for me fixing it is not a case of paying 100€ more but skipping the "free" phone and paying 869€ instead. That 16GB launch time base storage was introduced 7 years ago with the iPhone 3GS, and it's still the base storage even though apps have ballooned up, cameras have vastly improved and also the iPhone prices have gone up quite a bit especially outside the US. As a result of all this, the actual usefulness of that 16GB has deteriorated over the years quite badly, so going 32GB minimum is long overdue.

It's somewhat ironic that Phil & co keep using iCloud as the excuse for keeping the 16GB model around. Now that I had to go from 64GB to 16GB, it became obvious that the iCloud Photo Library doesn't work as advertised. The storage "optimization" algorithm kept pulling ancient photos I haven't viewed in years to my phone and eating away the little storage I still had left. To add insult to injury, all those ancient photos it pulled to the phone show up as new for Photos for Mac import even though it's using the same iCloud Photo Library. With the 64GB devices I didn't notice these flaws since there was plenty of headroom in that storage, but now when the optimization was really needed, it turned out not to work properly. I've had some smaller issues with the iCloud Photo Library before, but this one was the last straw. I dumped iCloud Photo Library and went with Google Photos + occasional local backups to OS X Photos instead, so I can now drop my iCloud storage subscription. I guess I should be happy that Apple pointed out their own flaws and now I'm saving 3€ a month.

Fingerprint, a too much of a mean streak in the narrator voice. However, content is good.

Onions, a total parody of the film scene these days with the semi-talent and no-talent artificial celebrities these days.

Would rather see more Cookie Monster or other Muppets. An Ernie & Bert ad would be great!

I agree.

I really hated the obnoxious voice of the narrator in the Fingerprints as. Obnoxious narrators used to be the domain of Samsung. Sad that Apple think that obnoxious equals trendy.

Most don't. They show an imac in the commercial a lot for viewing it. I'd say the percentage of 6S users who turn 4k on or have actually seen their recordings in actual 4k on a 4k screen is pretty low.

That said, I liked the commercial even if I think Apple should be focusing marketing on what makes the iphone unique instead. For me, it's the support, apps, apple ecosystem (few have all the pieces IMO such as both a mac and apple tv) and the fact I'm accessible to most users, especially those with iphones because of facetime, imessage, etc but can easily use google, MS, amazon, or whatever for others.

Marketing has already done apps to the ground. The apple ecosystem not so much. You really need an apple tv and mac to see it shine.

IMO, they need cellular macbooks. Carriers subsidize or give zero financing and it's the only way Apple even competes in smartphones. They really need to push Macs regardless and start educating the mainstream. It's inexcusable they don't have a 4 or 5k monitor out yet with a redesigned mac mini.

I'm sorry but this is a ridiculous ad - the 4K one that is.

I don't know of any single person who would sit around and watch a video on their iMac...um that's why you have a big screen TV! Why watch it on a 21-27" display vs a 55-75" 4K TV??

For those saying 4K TVs are not that popular, these are now the default choice in the market, with 4K TVs to be the primary option in 2016 for sales.

The biggest problem is there is no Apple TV option to view your files on.

I'm fortunate I have a Sony 4K 75" TV and the iphone videos in 4K look stunning. Now the process to get these onto the tv is as follows:

Connect iphone to mac
Sync videos to photos
Select videos and move them to my NAS
By thankful my TV is Android and so I can install Kodi
Play them back in full 4K resolution.

Now can you imagine every day people trying to do the above! They had the chance to release a 4K player during the holidays but of course typical Apple have to wait another version until they do.

It's not like there isn't 4K content out there with Amazon prime and Netflix committed and doing 4K and now 4K HDR.

Is it possible to playback 4K video out of the iPhone using a Lightning to HDMI adapter?

Good question no idea. But isn't Apple transitioning us to a wireless world, what with the new MacBook and all. Why not have a 4K ATV as well

It's great to see SignEasy being featured in the iPhone 6s - Fingerprint ad. I loved how he bought the boat in a matter of seconds...And that's not where it ends, our users close deals while vacationing on the beach and complete paperwork while stuck in a snowstorm or remote areas like Africa or Haiti. Read about the feature on http://bit.ly/1TuyW73

two ads, night and days apart in terms of creativity. Actually I hate the series of ads in the spirit of the first one.
