I see a lot of complaining about the $159 pricing of the AirPods, but the Bragi Dash in-ear, cordless headphones are priced at $299. Is there a competitive quality model that is priced lower than $159?

Actually cheaper then I was expecting. Looks okay but certainly not for fast runs or hard workouts. Will most likely fall out but will have to test them anyway.

Looks like I'm going to get new phone, watch and these.

QUOTE from "LovingTeddy - responses in bold

First: they break very easily. Just look the quality for lightning cable. I can imagine the adaptor will looks like when it bent around inside your pocket. I have never had a lightning cable break under normal usage

Please define normal usage. I have countless lightning cable that has wire exposed, I have lightning cable stopped functioning after a week of normal use.

Please don't tell me you never have this

Anyway. This adaptor will be connected to your phone. The wire will be bend around in your pocket or your back pack. It will be throwed around. I have no faith in quality of this crappy adaptor. I am against headphone adaptor and I will never use one.

Second: You can easily loss this stupid piece of crap. Adopter makes sense when it not moving around and get throw around all the time. Like VGA to DVI adaptor, it plugs in your monitor and never move. Top tip - leave the adapter connected to the headphone cable

So are you suggest me to buy serval headphones and keep them in different places and buy several adaptors? No thank you.

Third: The adaptor will be plugged and unplugged all the time. How can you guarantee it won't break the Lightning port someday? Refer above but also isn't it no different to the lightning cable that I plug in and out during the day which has never broken a lightning port?

Good for you. When you have an adaptor need to be plug and unplug and lightning cable need to be plug and unplug, you have double the chance to break something.

And I never said the port will be broken, I said it might be.

Forth: What happens when you kiss or the adaptor breaks? You pay Apple 10 dollars for the piece of crap. You probably need several, one in your office, one in your car, one in your home. There you go, 20 dollar extra spending right there. Refer above - one adapter connected to the headphone cable solves your "problem"

Sorry. No. I will still need carry the headphone around. And the cable still gonna break. And my car does not have Bluetooth, so I probably need one if I want connect my phone to the car

Sorry. That is not going to happen.

I firmly believe removing 3.5mm will have big black slash to Apple. I cannot wait and see iPhone's sale tanked.

5 hours is useless, I work 9 hours and need 12 hours per day...... I'd rather the 3.5mm jack, I don't need stereo speakers built into the phone, I don't even need one speaker, they're small and crap and I only ever have my phone in vibrate... I never use the built in speakers.

The answer is simple... buy two pairs keep one in the charger and swap them out.

I feel the same way, the earphone included with iPads and iPhones go straight in the bin here. They are not just uncomfortable, they are painful.

....and they will fall out when you move your head. Apple doesn't recognize that people have different size ear canals. Most vendors supply multiple ear buds to account for this.

I mostly agree, but a simple speaker for notifications and calls is necessary ;)
it's whining. buy what you need if it's so specific instead of crying until you get exactly what you want.
Problems, or annoyances, need to be solved. In this case there is no problem. The things he's whining about are all optional. I don't believe he needs 12 hour battery either; that's very long fpr continious music.

I was thinking about the same for travelling, 5 hours is too short.

Same. But (and I'm not defending Apple because I am iffy on these things) when traveling, you take these out at some point and can put them in the little box charger, no? My question is how long does it take to recharge? 30 Min? I can live with that. More than an hour and I'm giving the side eye.

I had BlueTooth earphones with me once when traveling from NY to LA and they died halfway through the flight because I forgot to charge them the night before and did not have my earphone chargers w/ micro USB in my carry on. It was a terrible morning and I forgot all kinds of things. Anyway....I had no way to charge them and it was really annoying.

I never ever use them because the fit is so poor. Who the hell is their ear model?! lol

30 minutes of charging from dead will get you an additional 3 hours. My guess is they use the same burst charge model of charging that iPhones do (quicker charge to 80%, then trickle charge the rest for good battery health).

These are priced to move people.
You're joking, right? These are ridiculously expensive for something that will fall out and get lost very quickly. They should have been included with the iPhone 7 to minimize the inconvenience of losing support for 99% of headphones out there.

Also can they be paired with non apple devices or is Apple using some closed proprietary version of bluetooth?

Yeah, the more I look at these, the more I think they are just unsuitable for what I need. They will just fall out while running and likely aren't sweatproof. To be honest, I also just think they look dumb, but would overlook that if other things weren't disqualifying. The dash is too expensive, so I am wondering if the lower end headphone product is sweatproof. The promo videos don't really show anyone exercising in them, but that might be because they want to promote the dash for workouts. However, I don't need the fancy doodads, and I would rather take the battery life over all that stuff.

I'd be interested to know just how ""seamless" these are in real world usage.... and definitely weather its always automatic, as what is often demoed at the keynote, offends fulls short in reality.. in all cases.

Since this is only for iOS 10.. i'm basically in the clear since there is no way i'm moving (unless i get a new phone, but that won't happen in the short term)..

i'm happy on 9.3.5

Before they announced the price yesterday I was just guessing that they'd sell them for $60 and when they said $159 I was a little shocked at that. So now they're a high price and only in white, not something I'm quite ready to buy. If they offered them in black, that would help some as they wouldn't look like Q-tips sticking out of your ears....

What are the chances Apple making different Airpod colors to match the iphone colors.

I think this whole "color range" scheme is set in cement ..

it would be so simple to just walk up to someone and snatch it right out of their ear. The mic itself acts like a little handle to grab.

I've read and watched reviews for braghi dash and many other such truly wireless headphones and they all have serious connection issues and their battery life is far worse, and they're far more expensive. So based off of that alone, yes I think these are well priced. I bought power beats wireless 2 years ago for $200 so comparatively these are infinitely better.

I'd love that too....at least offer jet black ones in addition to the white ones. But I'm guessing that won't happen. White has been Apple's "iconic" color from EarBuds to EarPods and now to AirPods. Remember the early dancing silhouettes of people with the white EarBuds? If not....

[doublepost=1473349938][/doublepost]Love 'em or hate 'em, these will start an arms race of new Bluetooth headphone innovation.

I personally think these look better than the bulky look of the Bragi, but I am suspicious about how they'll stay in. But for casual listening and use at my desk at work, these may be a winner. Bragi seems to have a bit better battery life, but don't include a charging case that I can see. I don't think I'd ever go 5 hours without at least taking these out and putting them in the case for a while anyway. Also the fact that they iCloud pair with every Apple device I own is cool. I have never used my AppleWatch for audio since it is just way too inconvenient to re-pair headphones every time I want to switch from listening to my phone to my watch.

It will be interesting to see if the next iPads keep the headphone jack. Apple certainly can't say there's no space. But I guess they could claim they need to waterproof them (even though others seem to have figured out waterproof headphone jacks).

First of all: it is crappy design. Look at that two thing sticks out.

I thought these were going to be overpriced at $100 only to find out they're $150 lol! They look terrible …

these are really ugly and awkward looking.

Wow! Those are ugly! Who decided to stick a baseball bat out of bottom of the airpod? They look best suited for a call center in a telemarketing company.

Nice Tim. But really don't they look really goofy?

Just so I can make sure I'm on the same page as you guys:

I don't get the dislike of the mic poles hanging down. At worst, they're better than other hanging microphone arms, and at worst, they're a little bit better than the corded poles on EarPods.

Maybe it's just an arbitrary aesthetic preference, but it's not like they stick straight out or have anything we don't already see often.

I'm surprised at the complaints about how expensive these types of ear buds are. If you do some research, up until a few days ago $159 for this type of bluetooth earbuds is way below the the industry standard prices plus a lot more battery life even compared to wired bluetooth earbuds.

$200-$300 is the standard price range for these types of ear buds.

So how does one increase the volume or put it on mute if there are no controls?

Please don't tell me it's all done via Siri.

I think it's done on that thing called... wait, what was it again? Oh, the iPhone itself. If you want/need controls on the earphones themselves, then wireless earbuds aren't the product for you.

No joke... they're literally the same earphones, but without the wires. How are people seriously going to complain about that? You know that if Apple changed the design to something totally different, people would be saying things like "Oh, they made this "perfect design" made for peoples' ears and then changed it -- guess it wasn't so perfect, eh?"

People will literally complain about anything and everything. Sheesh.

Only thing they are gonna be good for is sitting still and listening to them. No way they will stay in ears if active.

Why tout wireless and then require you to reach for the phone for basic functionality.
It's not uncommon to have your iPhone in a briefcase or purse on a crowded subway. Or in a messenger bag while riding a bike. I don't want to pull out a phone just to change a track when working out.

So yes, I know already this product isn't for me...and I suspect for many others who see this as a major flaw.

The Dash have controls on the ear buds. Pause, skip rack, go back, volume up/down, start tracking activity, search for BT device, start audio transparency...

Yes - the new The Headphone (from Bragi, makers of the Dash) pre-order for $119. You have to remember that the Dash have much more tech inside than just headphones - they are also waterproof and have an internal music player.

Not at all - you seem to be intentionally misinterpreting what I am saying. If you have one set of headphones just put the adapter on that and connect that to your phone. Just leave the adapter connected to your headphone cable. Why is this so hard for you? You would have to remove the adapter when connecting to other devices without a lightning port.

Good for you. When you have an adaptor need to be plug and unplug and lightning cable need to be plug and unplug, you have double the chance to break something.

OK - I take it that you will need two adapters - again though just leave that connected to the cable in the car and connect that to your phone.

I firmly believe removing 3.5mm will have big black slash to Apple. I cannot wait and see iPhone's sale tanked.

I think iPhone sales will fall not due to this but due to the perceived lack of innovation.

The wired headphones come with the phone so you don't think too much about them or how they look.

But if you're paying a premium of $160 you would want headphones that look good and sound good not headphones that come with the phone sans the wire with an insane price.
