Hard to believe people won't give physical media up.

I gave physical media up when my dvd then blu-ray collection filled up the 360 degree swivel stand it was on. That and digital movie quality was on the rise to the point where it was indistinguishable visually. And by that I mean you could only tell minute differences in quality when you froze a frame. Sound however is still better on blu-ray and it supports more formats. But this is a different topic for different forum.

However where the hell people fit all this physical media??? I was running out of space so I had to go iTunes Store digital since the befits outweighed the negatives in my case.

Are you downloading the music or streaming? If you are downloading, then you still need a physical media to store it. If you are downloading, you are paying for it every time you download it either through your internet bill or cellular bill. So I think owning a CD is a much cheaper option and plus you get loss less audio.

What, so they were going to get Apple to start stocking "CDs" in their retail stores. What ****ing planet are they on!

Wow, thanks, man! If it hadn't been for your comment, I would have remained utterly baffled by this article. Didn't even think of physical stores and CDs. I thought "now why would Apple not sell the new Adele album through iTunes? Is it because of this?

What year is it? My cable connection isn't metered, and neither is my music streaming through the phone (TWC, and T-Mobile, respectively). And my "physical medium" is an old 30 GB iPod in the car.

Mostly stream from my Apple devices and I already pay for Internet on my phone and at home so it's no extra charge to stream it. Also if I chose to download it there isn't an extra charge since I already own the content.

It's a tough sell when Apple doesn't sell anything with a CD drive anymore.

Technically, they do. (http://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=MD101LL/A&step=config#).

I imagine the marketing team wanted these setup in a little box at the checkout, like they do at Starbucks from time to time.

Except that Apple Retail Stores don't have a "checkout". You simply flag down an employee to ring up your purchase(s) for you.

I really don't see what's so amazing about her..... How she is already breaking records with her new video baffles me.

It might help if you check out the record sales of her two previous Albums 19 and 21. Also check the number of Grammys she has.

This is embarrassing. They're assuming that the Apple Store is like a supermarket where people find something else to buy at checkout.

Go make a deal with Macy's and JCPenney where this makes much more sense and people have the extra $15 to spare, and are actually looking for random gifts to buy.

Nothing wrong with CDs, I still buy them too, but it's a huge mistake trying to get a store like Apple's to stock it. Not only because of iTunes, but just because you're pretty much in and out of there most of the time.

It's a hell of a deal, 25 is going to be a major hit obviously. Not sure about the physical media part, but make it an exclusive Apple Music thing and you're likely not going to regret this.

How about an "Adele" co-branded Watch? It could come pre-loaded with her new album, and a custom watch face featuring her actual face. The box can be a custom "Watch|Adele" box with the CD incorporated into it as a bonus ... so no clutter in the store. And like the U2 iPod, Adele can pick the color combo.

I can't believe everyone on here who is surprised someone would by a CD. If you are any kind of audiophile then you know they sound much better than all this compressed digital music crap, which is fine when listening on an iPhone with some cheesy earbuds. If I am going to listen at home on my high end audio system then I would much rather hear a CD and I have a high quality CD player. Kids today are happy with all this low quality digital music, but for those of us who want a better listening experience a CD or even vinyl is a much better experience and until they offer higher quality digital music on a more universal basis I'll stick with these for music I want to hear. Second, I'm pretty sure Adele could carry this with no problem considering her popularity and past success.

I just can't imagine why the4y would pass on selling Adele's CD...
This is where you miss the picture. They're planning to rerelease the CD. It will be the best CD since the CD. It's going to be awesome. Queue Jony Ive video.

This is too funny to skip....... am "Rolling..." over here. CD!?.... AND in the Apple Stores....[nowadays]??? Hahahaha.... These people need a reality check and the "bonus songs" usually suck.

Maybe Apple should bundle a CD for free with any Apple device that can read CDs. Let me think...

Alright! That's interesting to know. I don't follow Mac very closely so I assumed the optical drive had already gone the way of the floppy disk drives.

If you need to read CDs or DVDs (I do very, very, very occasionally), you can buy a third party USB CD/DVD drive for £20. Works just fine. Even if you have a Mac with a CD drive, throw it out, use the space for an SSD drive, and create your own Fusion drive!

Not to be picky, but CD are not what an audiophile would consider good media!

That's only a minority of, well, "audiophile", compared to the majority of "music lovers" who quite like CD quality.

With "Music" languishing Apple needs this...maybe not at $30M but they need it. They should just include a downloadable version with the disc. I'm tired of people whining about anything that's on physical media. I'm tired of handing my device or ear buds over to someone because they want to hear something I have and that's the only way without them downloading it themselves. I'm tired of thinking about the possibility of us moving towards a real "Equilibrium" (the movie) type state where everyone lives in a barren room with four white walls and a digital device. Yeah, I don't really use physical anymore, but I might if more was available. I prefer the idea of physically owning things I pay for so no matter whether some company's database is breached or not I don't have to care about whether my purchase history is safe or whether my music/movies will be held under siege at a time when I want to them and I've paid for them.

A CD and a nice digital tube amplifier make for an exquisite audiophile experience for me.

Its all available on physical media, there is no more to make available. Just go to a store that actually sells it rather than wanting a single album sold in Apple stores.

No one is forcing you to buy digital media apart from you.
