If you want my opinion...

I bet they already moved and UPS didn't want anyone knowing bc once the phones went beyond the main hubs they would technically be available for 'possible' pick up? Unless the phones will all make a giant move tonight...

Or there is just a whole bunch of Kentuckians running around with new iPhones...

I am out on Long Island and whenever I receive something from UPS, it usually flies into Trenton, NJ, then Farmingville, NY. Soooo....that would be two more stops before tomorrow.

IMHO, your iPhone (if ordered early enough) is sitting there in a UPS facility very near your home town. Everyone calling and pestering both Apple and UPS about "....where is my iPhone?... am I gonna get it early? I'm a baby and I want my new toy!... waaahhhh!" has made them stop updating all of the packages status'.

You'll very likely get it tomorrow as promised... Everyone R-E-L-A-X...

Here's the latest on my iPhone shipped through FedEx:

Shipment information sent to FedEx
I called in and they said it's shipping from Ingram Micro in California. But, they don't have the package yet. I'm kind of wondering how I'll get this tomorrow by 3pm. Anyone else still have their phones stuck in California?

Oh believe me you not...

I am completely calm. Unlike some others around here - I'll get it, when I get it...tomorrow, Saturday or even Monday. Doesn't matter to me, I have my 3G and let's be honest - the 3G S won't be changing much

Let's be honest... I want my new Apple toy just as much as the next person; after all, I'm a geek. But, I've never heard so much whining, speculation,
and general BS in my life...

Sheesh...

Yeah, now THAT was funny...

If I were to guess what's going on with the delivery "delay"...

Apple is anticipating significant demand and there are logistical issues with
moving that many phones from China to meet the pre-order demand and
make sure there are enough phones in both Apple and AT&T stores within
the limits of being able to manufacture a large quantity of phones (i.e.,
they may still run out).

After all, they don't want to experience the same issues Palm did with the
Pre (remember: they ran out of phones).

Also, by timing the delivery of the iPhone OS update a few days early, they
spread out the demand on the company's servers. So... after a few days
of "delay", they've got all of the folks chomping at the bit for the new OS already updated, the servers are idling again, and the servers are now ready for the coming wave of activations...

All is going according to plan... You've got your OS, there are now enough phones in the pipeline to meet the demands, and you'll get your phone tomorrow from some very haggard UPS delivery folks...

We're almost there... and tomorrow will be a very fun day for many of us...

Its the 19th and my phone is still on hold in Kentucky. I'm finding it very hard to believe it'll be on the delivery van by 6am. Its starting to look like a Monday delivery for me. :(

I ordered online last June 13. I got a UPS tracking number today Thu 6/18 saying that it shipped Thu 6/18 with a delivery date of Mon 6/22, not Fri 6/19 as I had expected all week long.

Now why didn't they just deliver it yesterday Wed 6/17 so that I will receive it tomorrow Fri 6/19?

I think Apple simply told UPS to hold off all deliveries until Thu 6/18 regardless of whether that would result in delayed deliveries for some people.

Fuming.

Is that what UPS says or the Apple email? I got my tracking from Apple in an email and it said delivery on the 22 but when I put the number into Fedex's site it comes up the 19th.

Did anyone notice that the status changed to IN TRANSIT? The Package Progress section hasn't updated yet but it seems there is no longer a hold on the package. Here's hoping everyone's iPhones are on the move!

I'm not gonna get exited about that. Since the initial hold it's gone "in transit" about 3 times now. Though with it being hours away from the promised delivery date, maybe I should get exited this time around.

I see it! It's changing as we speak. I will now proceed to giggle like a school girl. :D

Yep, I'm in Hawaii and mine had been on exception for the past two days.

Just changed from EXCEPTION to IN TRANSIT with a "rescheduled delivery" of 06/19/2009 !!!

PERFECT!:D

I haven't been posting much but I've been reading thru the messages over the days and it looks like our confusing adventure is finally coming to a close! In just a few hours, hopefully everyone will be enjoying their brand new iPhones! Hope everyone lucks out tomorrow!

Yup - UPS tracking info is showing "In Transit" instead of "Exception", and now has a delivery date.

Damn you FedEx, STILL has not even been picked up! Anyone else in this situation?

Look for United Parcel Service gais. It took me a minute to realize this.

Yay!

You can also just put in your home airport and it will show all scheduled arriving flights from all airlines...scroll down to UPS or FedEx.
