Apple Delays iPhone 3G S Pre-Orders to Prevent Early Delivery?

Well, mine jsut shipped and should be here tomorrow by three! Awesome :D But, I do have one question, I have my sim card from my 3G, but the telephone listed in the email is not the same as what the sim card is. Can I just stick my sim card in there and have it work? And what will happen to the other sim card that has the same number?

Just got my tracking number from FedEx. It seems to me, just by this thread, FedEx had their sh*t together more so than UPS. UPS seemed to just confuse people.

Does anyone know if we are going to have to visit an Apple Store or an At&t store to activate it? I know there is some confusion about this.

This is as of 2 min ago and was originally shipped via UPS from China on the 16th, with all of the reported delivery dates...I just hope UPS doesn't delay the shipment from KY!

I am thinking the ones who had it shipped to their house can activate through iTunes.
 
My phone was delivered to my local AT&T store at 10:30 AM today per UPS tracking. So they apparantly have it there now. I wonder if they'll let me get it tonight. Most assurdedly NOT, but maybe I should try anyway. :)

Why does it say mine is still in Anchorage??? :(

I haven't heard anyone else on here say they are seeing the same thing for theirs!
 
I just saw the FedEx guy delivering what i assume would be the shipment of iphones to one of my local apple stores. I couldnt think of a way to get them from him and get away with it though... :D

No, mine's still in Anchorage as well. Has been since 1:50pm 6/17/09, AST.

Hoping that it's sent out to... somewhere, tonight, and makes it to me tomorrow. Going to be more than a little annoyed if I have to spend the weekend without it. ;)

I'd like to think that either:

1. The UPS tracking system is experiencing a huge lag (although other people have been getting updates).

2. They forgot the departure scan from Anchorage and it's on its way to Kentucky. I find this highly unlikely though after touring a UPS sorting facility a while back - those places are crazy!

Good to know my phone isn't stranded alone at least ... haha
 
Would it be safe to assume that people who ordered through apple are getting theirs from fedex and people who ordered through ATT are getting theirs from china or wherever through UPS

I ordered mine through Apple and it is coming (someday I hope :rolleyes:) via UPS

I'm getting one from each delivery service... :D Ordered both from Apple, seven minutes apart. It would have been far more convenient to do both in the same order.
 
I am so confused. I, regrettably, ordered through ATT.com thinking I would need to do that because I needed to change from EDGE to 3G data plan. I ordered a new 3GS for me, and a 3G for my wife as upgrades. My order page has said the exact same thing since the minute I ordered. I ordered on the 10th. Does this look like your orders? not talking about "In Progress" just the way it looks? My buddy did the same thing and the verbiage matches what you all keep saying you all have.

yep - same shipment as you guys. i think we are all getting worked up over nothing - i've had a replacement computer make it to me next day when it left from China via UPS - i'm not super concerned that the tracking still shows the phones in Alaska.

if you look at the screen grabs of people's tracking statuses in this thread, some have departure scans from HK and AK, some don't - again, we're in the US, that's half the battle. let's just all relax until tomorrow - after all, that is the day that we were told these were coming. meanwhile, we've got 450 posts worth of people analyzing UPS/FedEx tracking pages like they are the rosetta stone.

we'll all be fine tomorrow! (unless you ordered your phone yesterday or today - in that case, enjoy your wait ;) )

True, Apple did say that 19th but there is nothing more disappointing then seeing a status of the phone being here on the 17th, and then exemption claiming that I requested a hold. I just wish that situation was more organized between UPS and Apple.

I planned a trip and the leave time had now changed 3 times because of this situation. The phone is far to expensive to just leave on the front porch for the weekend. So, yeah. I am planning my trip around when the phone gets here. Crazy me!

Mine has been in "Anchorage" for days as well. Since UPS can't get their act together, I FedEx'd it a little winter coat & Bailey's Irish Cream/Hot Chocolate.

UPS for sure! I am sure that they knew all along. When I called them the first time, I was just told that there was a hold up in customs and I should still receive by the 17th. Finally, when I called back today; I was told differently. Shame, Shame on UPS!

Spoke with an ATT rep. despite the preorder promise of being delivered tomorrow 6/19, it appears it will ship out for delivery on Monday.
