You say silly things - but this is still happening today.
Almost immediately after every new iPhone launch, the same design/features seem to show up on android devices (latest one - android gets a blatant copy of the iPhone's swipe gestures).
Not sure I agree with the original settlement amount, but you can't go to court asking for exactly what you want. Same as when buying a house - you always offer slightly lower than you're willing to spend, as if you offer what you're willing to spend first time they'll try to negotiate

.
Android P gestures are a blatant copy of WebOS's gestures and multitasking interface. Which is not surprised taking in consideration that WebOS's lead software designer currently works at Google.
Also the gesture controls on Android P are implemented differently. You have an universal back button which you have to tap to go back and you have to tap on a button to go to the home screen, two things which don't exist on the X.
Anyway I will be interesting to see what will iOS 12 look like. The only way foreword for Apple is to copy features from Android, things like the notifications grouping, audio slider interface would be a much welcomed improvements.

Meh. Samsung is doing Apple’s tick-tock cycle now since they’re running out of ideas. Before, every year of Galaxy S had new design. No longer. S7 is the same as S6, and S9 is the same as S8. We’ll see how long Samsung can resist copying the notch.
They’re running out of ideas?
LoL let's put things into perspective. The S8 had the best design of 2017(close to it anyway, as it was praised by every single reviewer) .
It's way harder to reinvent something that it's already that good. It's simple logic.
By comparison Apple kept the same boring and uninspiring iphone 6 design for 4 generation. They only changed some elements on the back of the phones and that is it, the front remained with exactly the same look and same huge bezels for years.
I remember the easiest way to notice if somebody had an iphone 7 was to look for the missing headphone jack.

We can easily look at Android skins. There’s a reason most Chinese OEM skins (Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc) follows iOS style home screen with icons instead of Google’s app drawer. And before you say Samsung is Korean, LG’s skin also follow iOS style. It’s all to create the similarities with the iPhone.
Yeah because of Chinese people buying habits(one of the reasons iphone x was successful in China).
But it's Android so you are not limited to the stock home screen lock, you could make any of these phones look like stock Android if you want to.
And things are changing with Chinese OEMs. Not long ago Xiaomi said they want to better understand the buying requirements and habits of Europeans and how they are different in comparison to the Chinese ones(this is part of their expansion plans). Because of this they are willing to choose the Stock Android route(seen the Mi A1 officially launched in Europe last year).
