Toxic Fumes? That can only warrant a "positive" vote...

Nah... but really? lets hope it's not true because I'm looking into getting me a Mac Pro soon :p

Do not smell it. That smell is bad for you. Replace the Mac Pro as soon as possible.

.....why do you always beleive everything you read man????

there has been ONE source of this and it was tested by ONE (arguably biased) lab.

Smell ehhh...

That scientist what he didn't realized that his mouth is closer to his nose than the laptop his holding. So he has to investigate first where that smell really came from, maybe from his mouth. You know those scientist they never took care of themselves like basic stuff: brushing, showering, changing clothes that's why they always look weird.

Is it that new car smell??
I think I saw Jesus' face in the reflection of my laptop...anyone else seen it??

Had a few white Intel iMacs, we had to move them elsewhere as they had a very weird smell that made people feel sick.

The front of your nose smelt it, made some cough.

lol

Massive hysteria anyone?

Its funny to see this happening hehehe. I have 3 Mac Pro's and give service to several dozens and never found any strange odor another than a dirty office or anything apart from the machine itself.

I don't know about you but smoke is what makes a computer work. That is why whenever you do something to let the smoke out, your computer stops working. :D

This has nothing to do with the computer being more or less 'green'. It's a computer. It has electronics inside of it, which have a smell. Go to FutureShop and stick your face inside a newer display PC, and you will smell *gasp* electronics!

Possibly, but there are also other things that happen as a result of manufacturing failures -- plastics will emit an unusual / unacceptable amount of hydrocarbon materials if they were not cured properly. It's also not uncommon to read occasionally about limited batches of consumer products having unusual residual amounts of cleaning agents typically used to clean various parts of the manufacturing apparatus.

Most of the causes for an unusually high amount of heavy molecule emission from a product like this (when it isn't actually on fire or overheating at the moment) are along those lines -- manufacturing failures that are not indicative of design flaw and which can come and go.

So I wouldn't write it off immediately. If the evidence can be validated with a sniffer, then Apple will be able to date code it and identify the affected computers, and its wholly appropriate for them to be recalled.

I wonder if its that new electronic smell that some devices tend to emit(VCR's are one example I can think of). That smell is deadly.

Get High!

Apple Should Have Put Some Weeds Inside Their Mac Pros. Smell It Baby That's Why You Pay Premium On Those PROS. New Sticker Will Be Attached Not Intel Inside it should be "Weeds Inside". Lol!

It will be interesting what comes of this story. I'm sure others will begin to investigate. Who knows, this may open the door to an analysis of all Macs and perhaps all computers on the market.
