More market share doesnt mean a better product. When there was one model people complained that it was too big, too small, too costly, etc. Now they have variety. The more units, the more likely it is someone will find something more fitting for him/her. There are people who can’t stand the X. For those people with older devices that want wireless charging, True Tone, or whatever, the 8/+ is right up their alley. In the end it’s all about market share. More variety, more customers, more money. Unfortunately, this is akin to the Apple of the 90’s.
I'm talking about creating a better product as a result of focusing on one (normal AND plus sized) model.
Your logic states, having 100 models would be better than having the current 3(?) models... that logic is never satisfied, as there could always be MORE choice.
This is absurd and the level of quality and dedication to each product diminishes the more you add.
My logic is unquestionable through maths, it HAS to be a better finished product if it is the sole focus of all the teams, as opposed to split focus.
If people do not have a choice, they will still be satisfied, because they didnt know the other 99 options were available.
First few iPhone models didnt have these choices, and look how popular they were.
