That's historically been true, but Asian car companies are now making cars in America more than not. Today's automation and tax changes in the U.S. now make that something to lookin into at least. Doesn't mean Apple won't ultimately subcontract the technology out to Asia, but it doesn't mean they won't start here.
But with many Apple rumored advances, I cannot help but remember the Sapphire Glass debacle. That sure didn't work out well for anybody.
This is an iPhone, and the US is not the only market for this product.
Nor does Apple has 16+ models of cars that Toyota assembles, nor is their product easy on costs to ship across the world. The Toyota Corolla is popular around the world and they are made in China, Mississippi, Sao Paulo, Ontario, Japan, and Thailand. Only 8 of their models are made on US soil.
Contracted manufacturing is always better because Apple is not in that business. That is Foxconn, and Pegatron's business.
