I really enjoyed my iPod Shuffle. Lots of memories with it before I jumped to the Nano. Mine devices still work and I still speak about them to friends very highly even with their age. Timeless

Sad but inevitable. The original Nano was my all-time favourite design.
Pity the icons used on the iPod look straight from iOS 6. Could have at least updated that.

my nano still fine :)

Aw that's sad, but not surprising (especially now they're pushing Apple Music subscriptions which let's be honest is probably a major factor)

Tempted to grab a couple to keep wrapped and sell for stupid money on eBay in 10 years...

wow. i remember when i got my ipod nano (1st gen). i loved it! but times have changed i guess. i no longer want a dedicated music device to store songs on when my phone can just stream them to me.

Welp, thanks a lot, MacRumors. Now this happened…

I've always found the first generation Nano to be the prettiest thing Apple has produced, so I thought I might as well pick one up.

No, THAT happened because of the replacement program. (which is several years old now)

And I have to agree, the first generation had the iconic white plastic design and looked like a big iPod just shrunken down.

Glassed Silver:ios

This literally makes zero sense.
People buying an iPod touch will probably go for an iPhone instead despite the gigantic price difference. However, as for the iPod Shuffle and Nano, I think that people bought it because they wanted something portable they could use to listen to music while running, hiking, etc... instead of looking like idiots with those massive arm bands. Unless you're a tall guy/girl, and those arm bands don't make you look like as if you are running with an iPad.

I love my shuffle, and as it's getting old I was thinking about buying a new one. I guess if apple would bet on building a small device we could listen to music from, that would be just awesome. Reinventing the iPod can't be that difficult, can't it?

As a consumer it makes no sense. As an Apple Executive wanting to lift Apple Watch sales, it makes perfect sense.

It's a real shame.

Having just upgraded my 60GB iPod Video to a 256GB SD I really wish Apple would release a new iPod with click wheel.

Super thin, Flash Storage, Small Screen, Click Wheel, Bluetooth and Lightning Connector.

Make it see through and call it the iPod Glass.

The iPhone does all that so there's no reason for such a thing to exist. Apple would rather people buy the iPhone, which makes sense.

Maybe alongside the iPhone announcement they'll launch an affordable nanoesque iPod which is solely tied into Apple Music. Would make perfect sense in filling the void for a cheaper iPod and gaining more Apple Music subscriptions.

So basically a pebble core running Apple Music instead of Spotify?

Surprised, because it was a good stuff of its time. Well, Apple is moving towards the latest technology.

Absolutely, Apple fans increasing day-by-day, because of its newly launched features with latest technologies. Excited about Apple's upcoming features and updates ....

Goodbye iPods. Goodbye music players.
Once my iPods die off I guess I'll only listen to music when I'm in the car or on my computer.
Glad I stocked up on 6th gen iPod Nano's. They were the best....still are! I still use mine for the gym.
How the world has changed. How technology changes the way we do things and experience the world.
It's just like how Rock & Roll died off. Whoever thought we would see the end of Rock music. But it happened.

Shuffle was the worst iPod so I'm glad to see that go. It was the most annoying iPod I ever owned.

In the future I guess we'll just have headphones that tap into constantly streamed music services. And if you want to play a particular song, album or mix then you just speak to your headphone microphone and it will play it for you.
Who knows!
:)

There was a part of me that was hoping the Shuffle would be relaunched with bluetooth capabilities. I still have a 2nd gen and it's perfect for running. I dislike strapping a phone to my arm to listen to music and I have zero interest in purchasing an apple watch. The Shuffle with support for Airpods would have been the perfect workout companion.

Here's my 6th gen Nano (the only Apple Watch that I'll own) and next to it my 7th gen... a great little device. As far as I know, the Nano (7G) hasn't been pulled from store shelves yet, so if anyone wants one, hurry out to get one before they're gone.

There are still plenty of 6G Nanos out in the wild (obviously used). Watchbands for them are insanely cheap.

RIP iPod Nano.

The only people I know that have these are Android users that can't figure out to listen to music on their Android phones.

I really don't like any wireless headphones I've ever tried. I have very old school wired "on the ear" (not in ear, not over the ear) super lightweight headphones. iPod+headphones+cable all clip nicely on my hat, so I just put my hat on at start of run. If I ever find wireless headphones that aren't in ear and feel good, then I'll start using my Apple Watch for music while running. iPod Shuffle stays charged for two weeks or more (five hours running/week). Love that.

Someday when wireless gets more variety, better battery.
Truth is, I think we're already there. It just also needs to come down in price a little bit. ;)

I still own a shuffle but only one set of compatible headphones...

The Apple Watch is way better.

How does the iPod and the Apple Watch compare? One is for and it can store music and the other, well it's a watch.

Sad day. Apple are removing their affordable products one by one. The Mac mini will be next.

I wonder what happens when Apple runs out of products to discontinue. Nothing new (exciting) since Steve died.

This is sad. The shuffle was a great device for workouts and bike rides. Just clip it on and go and also very durable.

Perhaps I can find one on Ebay before they all go away.
