FTFY. Yes, I do understand the reliability benefits of wired connections in a few, limited sets of circumstances. But saying "Nobody" wants it, is hyperbole.

I've never broken a lightning cable in 7 years.I still have an original one that came in the box with my iPhone 5 in 2012.The reason they break is because of the way the user treats them, like yanking them out by the wire instead of pulling them out by the plastic bit at the top.

To be fair I also have seen the rubber wire covering deteriorate, in my case (probably in most cases) on a cord left in my car. Don't know if it's heat, UV sunlight, or a combination of factors but the coating will literally slough off. Still, it does take at LEAST a couple of years and the cables aren't that expensive.
