I’ve had the XDR Pro Display and stand in nano almost six years now.
It’s been one of the highest utilization / value products I’ve purchased. The thing is amazing.
I started the XDR pro owners thread back then and don’t feel the need to talk up the display much.
It can’t be understood in terms of the rest of the normal consumer market, similar to how AirPods Max can’t be understood. And that’s fine.
I agree w some of the folks ITT saying a follow-up gen 2 is likely on its way. Apple continues to support pro media workflows, in film and TV. There are people who work on computers enough to pay for the quality at the high end.
Apple has the market established and the high end performance hardware to drive the displays. This is not like the fancy Apple Watch line.
Mac Pro is not even that much of a related matter because Mac Studios are delivering in its stead.
I don’t see Apple packing it in on high end workstations here, and despite people’s reactions to pricing on these monitors, they are still not reflective of the premium some are willing to place on the best.
