If Apple’s recent form is any indicator then this would probably have come with a 30-pin charging connector. Lighting to 30-pin to USB-C Magic Dongle sold separately for $89.99 🤦‍♂️

Well, about 1 1/2 years ago there were rumors of a 3rd generation new Apple pencil.
Shiny it was supposed to be. And round (no device-clip-on charging?). Even pictures were released.

But that pencil never appeared. Not until today.
Maybe this latest rumor was about that pencil? The fact that this rumored pencil does not need charging would fit the rumored round design.

The rumor certainly could at least explain the latest iPad pencil dongle disaster.

Why would Apple scrap that product last minute?
Maybe they found a massive flaw? Or a patent they would infringe on if released? Or some patent negotiations went sour last minute?

Sketchy rumor and I don't believe it but I want to lol. Been using Galaxy Note series as main for many years (now S22 Ultra) because of pen. If and that's a big IF, they do support enclosed pen, I would jump to iPhone.

Yes, there are times during conversation/discussion with peers I feel like if I had a pencil or something I would've drawn things to explain them better. I use my finger which is very bad for writing/drawing on such a small area.

And yes, Samsung made the write decision to include one with their phone. Its neat.
I owned a smart phone with a stylist before the iPhone was announced and Samsung thought the future was keyboards. It was the Palm Treo we had 4 of them across 2 years and the factory stylists were missing after the first few weeks. When the IPhone came out I was happy to not have to keep up with that thing.

Sure, there is zero code in iOS, zero hardware support for a screen-powered pen, and zero supply chain/manufacturing leaks even after 1 million pencils being manufactured, but I'm sure some Chinese leaker on Weibo is correct.

Also, Apple charges $30 for a USB cable so I'm sure that a $50 Pencil is realistic... LOL

I wish I had my own personal stylist to accompany my iPhone.

Yeah this story is bogus. Jobs already explained stylus on a phone size device is pointless (Joke intended).

Tablet or iPad mini is another thing.

A larger trackpad on the MBP with Pencil support wouldn’t be a bad idea. Not perfect but not bad.
People often take Jobs comment about a stylus out of context, but yeah it's a fake story,.

This would be another nail in the entry level iPad's coffin; probably the iPad Air too.

I'd just get the biggest and best iPhone with the pencil, and use that together with the Macs, Watch, and AirPods, HomePods etc.

iPad Pros would be quite niche as I just don't see it being a laptop replacement.

I’ve had the Pencil 1 since 2015 and just got the Pencil 2. In all honesty, the little built in stylus in my Compaq Ipaq was just as good 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'd 100% buy a $50 'Marker' for iPhone.

I doodle over photos several times each day - and it's difficult with fat fingers.

Whipping out my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2 every time someone needs a comical penis added is tiring.
There's a ton of 3rd party styli/pens, both with and without batteries, that you can use on the iPhone. Most of them are cheaper than $50 and definitely up to the occasional "draw a penis on a photo" task.

If this is indeed true, someone would have for sure found hints of the device in one of the iOS beta versions.
This. A mass produced hardware accessory would be referenced in the code everywhere. Even if it were later removed, it would have surfaced.

So there are over one million units somewhere in a warehouse out there...right.

I mean is there anyone that could imagine Tim Cook's Apple manufacturing a million of anything and not selling it?
